It's worth pointing out that Uli doesn't replicate any old $#!+. He's evidently obsessed with re-rendering beloved -- even iconic -- vintage designs in the context of modern production practices, (hopefully) improving durability, reliability and most importantly, affordability (and profitability.) The austere soy-ink-on-cardboard reflects B's understanding that unless a product's packaging supports merchandising efforts, it neither improves sales nor enhances the customer's perceived value -- amounting to lost profits. My hunch is that, now that B have established mainline marketing channels, KZbin buzz is all they really need to sell gear.

Are they gonna pay back the 20% VAT? Of course not. They never saw that money - why would they. No, you’d have to claim back from the tax man (arg). Life is too short. I wouldn’t recommend people buy gear from Andertons’s they could get from Thomann if they’re based in the EU for exactly the same reason - currently, it’s a mess. Great customer service is not exclusive to Thomann, and I don’t understand why people shop at places that don’t pride themselves on it for expensive kit.

They also couldn't provide me with an idea of what the total cost would be until AFTER I had paid for the items, and even then it was short on what UPS invoiced me for once they had the gear, felt slightly held to ransom by them, what should have been a £240 purchase turned into a £320 shopping spree, which if I known at the point of sale I might have invested in different gear altogether from somewhere else! Sounds warm, but it's a bit disappointing that the filter has such a limited high frequency range. From another demo it was clear to me that isn't the case on the original. It makes for a warm but somewhat dull sounding synth, lacking clarity. I'm a bit surprised that they couldn't get it closer to the original like they have with other clones.
@StarskyCarr3 жыл бұрын
Apparently this is exactly how the originals left the factory. I contacted Behringer about this and they say lots were modded after market to Make them brighter but originals did this...
@MacXpert743 жыл бұрын
@@StarskyCarr Hmm, strange story. I don't know if it's true or not. All demoed units I've seen don't seem to have the limited range. Of course I don't know if they've been modded. But it seems to me Behringer would have been better off making them like this supposedly 'modded version' if this was done to so many units as they claim. I think most people would prefer the wider range of sounds that can be made with a filter that is capable of the full frequency range.
@MacXpert743 жыл бұрын
@@StarskyCarr Doing a little googling I found this video where they talk about a 'sizzle' mod for the original Mono/Poly to add high frequency. However from the demo it's clear that the unmodded stock Mono/Poly doesn't sound anywhere near as dull with an open filter as the Behringer one. The mod is more like a subtle EQ to boost the high frequency a little, but the stock one doesn't have the high frequency cut as we hear on the Behringer. So I still find Behringer's claim dubious. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2K3pWuqqdaDbaM&ab_channel=ChipAudette

How do you think about Behringers latest endeavors of copying more recent gear such as the Arturia Keystep? Their strategy to produce reverse engineered devices at agressively low costs, putting pressure on companies that actually develop new instruments and technology, setting wrong price expectations for the customers can be toxic for the market. Dont get me wrong, i love the fact that there is a solid 808 clone that i can afford. The company that not only steals designs from dead people but is now actively stealing current designs from other current companies? The company with zero customer support that ignores all complaints of faulty products? You can also look up reviews from people that worked for the company and see how they suck from that side as well. I'm just saying if you are into supporting less evil companies maybe you should consider supporting the better synth companies.

Well it's on the European continent but no longer in the European Union... so there's no longer free trade and we have import duties etc just like we do from everywhere else now. transporting goods over the borders has become a massive hassle if you need to return anything.. (well it is if you want your VAT and duties returned from the government!) I've even made a video on the changes since Brexit and how there.s an administrative nightmare faced by anyone doing it.

@@StarskyCarr Yeah, it was really terrible not to want some unelected bureaucrats in Brussels deciding what's best for the people in the U.K. 👍🏻
@StarskyCarr3 жыл бұрын
@@sonicimperium don’t want to get into a Brexit arguement - but that’s simply not how it works. All Eu laws have to be approved by the EU parliament which is comprised of elected members. We all elected our EU parliament members in elections.. they approve the law (the U.K. was instrumental in most and voted for nearly all of them btw) The bureaucrat nonsense is just a fallacy spread to mislead people. The Eu has bureaucrats yes.... but no more than most cities... and only a fraction of the bureaucrats employed by the U.K. so following the logic I suppose now we’re being ruled by our own unelected bureaucrats at least? Just what I want .. a load of Etonians deciding my fate! 👍

@Richard South A switch has been thrown across the globe, deal with it. It's the progressives that push politics onto everything by politicizing everything and will continue to do so until you push back. I have a feeling if this uploader wanted to do a video on the supposed injustice/inequality/oppression/etc in the synth world, you'd have zero problem with the of pushing politically orientated social justice issues here. You'd be bending over backwards with praise for the politically-adjacent content I'm sure.

Just got a real Mono/Poly that looks brand new for $1200. It's my favorite Korg ever made and well worth the extra money to have a real synth. I can't believe people are still falling for this Behringer garbage. Wait 6 months and it'll be a race to the bottom just like all their other faulty synths. Drifty osc, pots and switches that go bad in days, midi that doesn't work right, and a horrible company that does nothing but steal designs and is now actively stealing current designs from current companies as well. In a few months the market will be flooded, people will complain about faulty units but get no response from Behringer, and all the shops will be forced to lower their prices to compete with everyone else desperate to get rid of overstock. Complete garbage. Save your money and buy something better made.
