What a lovely jam with the SQ-1. You've got some excellent ideas to make a seemingly static and simple device so interesting. Cheers.

Great jam. I have the SQ-1 rigged up with my Model D and I absolutely love it

Very much like public transport. The algorithm read my mind and put this video first thing in my feed. This weekend I'm stacking various delays and stacking various sequencers and feeding all of that in and out of my Uli-synths. It should be one hell of a birthday party 🥳 This is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your patch notes. Great stuff. Have a fantastic weekend, and happy music-making!

Thanks a lot for your comment! Very much appreciate public transport, although it's often a pain in the back here... That's why I take the bike ;)

Very cool dude. I’m just getting started with the neutron and it’s daunting trying to figure out how to make cv connections that make sense and produce predictable results. Your videos like these are a true inspiration.

Thanks! Neutron is like a small modular, which is pretty cool, but it takes some time to get comfy with it.

Nicely done, I now regret having sold my SQ1 last year. This triggers my GRAS (Gear Re Acquisition Syndrome) 🙂

Know this situation well... However, the SQ1 was never on my "perhaps I should sell it" list, because it's so incredibly handy.

Whoa😮 b e a u t y f u l l! ! ! How do i make that patch 🙏 i have to pinch myself not to let tears stream.... 4 real... Also hard time deciding if the neutron, k-2 or pro 1 is going to be my first analog Love 🎉 but the sound sculpture you bring with this track makes me seriously want neutron... I make ambient...ps. can i 'play' notes on the Korg sq 1 hooked up to the synth?😊

Neutron is very capable, the Pro 1 is limited to one voice only and the K-2 is a blunt copy of the MS20, so I would definitely go for the Neutron (although the Pro 1 also sounds fat). The SQ1 is not a keyboard at all, but by quickly activating and deactivating the steps (which is very easy with the SQ1), you can actually "play" notes.

I too love what Vermona’s Melodicer; however, as a modular newbie on a strict budget, it’s simply out of my range of affordability right now! Given I already own a Neutron and an SQ-1 and am looking into buying an affordable quantiser for my next purchase, is there a way - perhaps by patching in an external Doepfer A-156 before the Neutron but after the SQ-1 - of transposing the entire sequence in a musically-relevant fashion? I love stochastic material (especially when combined with the synchronised S&H control of a filter to add some variability) but find such repetitive sequences, well, a little bit monotonous after a minute or so! Any help or advice gratefully received...
@synthesizer832 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could chain the Doepfer quantizer in between the SQ1 and the Neutron, and the 156 also has a transposition input. The 156 also has a mode switch to select different harmonics (major, minor, chromatic), it's a very handy tool!

Sounds good, this. Cheers for posting. What have you got the sq1 set to?
@synthesizer833 жыл бұрын
Hi! SQ1 is set to random mode and I just activate and deactivate the steps.
