Since a few years I am using TF3 in our church and believe me it is an entry, entry and again entry level board. Very easy to use and learn but has so many limitations comparing to x32 / Wing / A&H SQ series which are at the same or similar price level that I would never, never buy it again. Great toy for beginners to play with a digital board but it was very frustrating for me to discover all of these limitations.
@brightengale

Yeah, we do think that the TF series is great for entry level. It is much harder to get to the advanced features, and there are some things you just cannot do. We think that there are better consoles for more skilled operators.

I have been considering an upgrade for my church. I have considered many desks for price and functionality. I was surprisingly worn over by the TF series. Some compelling features that stood out for me; 1. Ease of use, easier for my team to navigate and build their understanding of digital boards. 2. Well thought out simplistic navigation; matrices, effects, send on faders, straight forward 1-1 input to output patching.....TOUCH Screen. 1 Button, home button when you get lost. 3. I can do an offline mix.I already downloaded the TF editor and have been setting up my mix and getting familiar with the workflow for when I actually do get the board. 4. The TF series has a clean look and a premium feel to it. 5. Count on the trusted longetivity and dependability of the Yamaha brand.

Thanks for doing this and posting. I’ve worked with both consoles over the last few years. I feel that a better comparison (to the TF) would be the Midas M32 rather than the X32 . While the OS is the same, the physical layout of the M32 is so much easier to get around on. I chose the M32 over the TF because the Midas preamp was much better, the monitoring expansion options were not limited to Dante/Aviom, MIDI implementation for DAW control, ability to multitrack via USB or SD card. In addition, the monitor app for iOS/Android gave meters per channel and on the master of each monitor bus. Yamahas monitoring app allow for some good customization but lacked metering.

The M32 is close to double the price of the tl5. I'm not sure a comparison of the 2 would be fair. if I paid 5k for a console I would hope it would be better than the 3k unit in almost every way. I think the x32 is better comparison based on a 3k or less shootout .

The Behringer is the lowest common denominator, made for sound techs who prefer to mix with their eyes rather than their ears. The lack of a touch-screen is an issue for techs who enjoy playing around with EQ graphs. By far the worst thing about the X32 is what a PITA it is to reconfigure the EQ and dynamics knobs before you can actually make an adjustment. A speedy board this is not. The Yamaha is for sound techs who prefer to program a setlist of mixes in advance. After you specify everything in detail, all that remains is babysitting the faders after you trigger each cue in sequence. It's ideal for techs who want to automate a show as much as possible.

As an A1 most days on set.. the x32 is the better tool especially with an iPad and wireless router. 1. The ability to use stage boxes two 2. The line in and out in addition to 32 xlr 3. Sd card recording in 32 bit float 4. Super easy BUS 🚌 setup... easy and life saver in last minute new additions to hybrid events I could write a paragraph or novel from experience how X32 is better for new and experienced A1. Thats being said eacv their own this is my opinion from experience

This just popped up on my YT feed. I use a Yamaha TF with the Dante card, two Tio stage boxes and seven Yamaha DZR speakers, running in Quick Config mode through the TF board. It is so slick to use for church or for remote conferences. I also have a Yamaha QL5 board in my church running a full Dante system (Nexo Amp, Shure ULX-D wireless mics, Rio stage box). That is wonderful - but painful for non-pro operators to use. The Yamaha system (a TF5 and my own TF1) are great, simple to use for even a complex Dante system, and Yamaha's support has been great (had a power supply fail in a TF5). The Behringer X32 that I've used seems needlessly complex, backwards in some of its terminology (High pass and Low pass filters names are odd), and is really dated. BUT it's been bulletproof in an application I use it for.

Yamaha support is a "little bit better"? That's sort of like saying Einstein was a "little bit smarter" than Goober from the Andy Griffith Show. Behringer wins the price contest for bang-for-the-buck, which is what they set out to do. That is all. Yamaha is (and always has been) on a whole different level in terms of support and build quality. Behringer is fine as long as it powers on and you never need a repair. It's just disposable gear, and they simply have no interest in support after the sale. None. Choose wisely.

@Brightengale Great comparison both mixing consoles. I always hear that Behringer X32 is more advanced, and Yamaha TF is for beginers. I have two questions: 1. What can Behringer do and Yamaha can't? 2. I saw presets in Yamaha mixing consoles? There is much more presets that i have in Yamaha TF-1. Are this presets manualy added - like sond technician, or where can i download this presets (i have last update softweare? Thans guys

as someone who mixes regularly on a M7cl and an SD9 I would still suggest the TF5 over the Behringer. You will NEVER see any Behringer equipment on any rider or on any higher end stages and events. At least if you are thinking X32, spend a few bucks more and get the M32 for the much better preamps.

Midas was acquired along with Klark Technik, Bugera, Tannoy, Lake, Turbosound, TC Electronic and TC Helicon and are all part of the Music Tribe. The X32 has Midas designed preamps as standard, which the M32 is better on some aspects I agree, but it also costs a lot more, the preamps, operating system and effects are absolutely identical, the M32 has a higher dynamic range reaches 112db instead of 106, the sampling rate of the M32's preamp goes up to 96khz while the X32 stops at 48khz.
@InVisionsynthmindscape
@InVisionsynthmindscape 2 жыл бұрын
If you read the whole message that I wrote up to the end where I explain the differences, you understood that a comment of this kind was useless. The X32 offers MIDAS-branded Midas-designed preamps that reach a maximum of 48khz, while the M32 obviously uses its native components of the brand which, however, reach 96khz, therefore with 50% more power than the X32. If you use them all 2 by setting them to 48khz they are identical. You will see gain levels of 6db compared to the X32 with better overall build quality and greater accessibility with the M32 but with a substantial price difference of 1200euro about a few years ago (2017) it was over 1800euro, in recent years the X32 is rose in price despite being no longer the flagship digital mixer after Behringer's release of Wings. Other marginal differences, M32 frequency response: 20 Hz to 20 kHz 0 dB to -1 dB with a sampling rate of 48 kHz. X32: 10 Hz to 22 kHz 0 dB to -1 dB with a sampling frequency of 48 kHz always. Better screen resolution and colors in the M32. The M32 weighs more, over 34 kilos the X32 stops at 20.5 kilos so it is easier to move. I hope I have clarified once and for all.

As someone who shares this viewpoint here’s a list: Fewer effects - No midi control - User defined keys are way more limited - The one knob control feels clunky - Scene recall is terrible (fastest change is 1 second) -Audio interface is locked to 48k which is a pain for streaming -console feels limited unless you specifically fork out for the Dante stage box and expansion card -I don’t like the scribble strips as much -menu navigation feels clunky. -you ,an only adjust 6 (I think) bands on the GEQ of a send. Anymore than that and it stops you because “you’re degrading the sound.”

When I was at the NAMM show a few years ago, the Yamaha reps admitted that even the CL5/Rio preamps don't sound as good as an M32. "You'll have to work a bit harder to get that sound." They did, however, say that their Rivage preamps (in the hella-expensive RPio boxes) were great. Gosh, for a $100,000 touring console, you'd hope so...
