The Tang Dynasty(618-906 A.D.) is the most revered and prosperous dynasty of Chinese history. It was a time when life was tranquil and rivers seemed to flow gold. The peasants that were always at the bottom of the social pyramid ranked right below royalty and the officials. Merchants instead were at the bottom of the social ladder, where although wealthier than peasants, the goods they traded were essentially the result of the peasants’ hard work, hence the recognition and acknowledgement that peasants were just as essential and precious to the country. Even now, the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty and the happiness of the people during this time weaves its way from the past into the present, with the Chinese people still referring to themselves as 唐人(People of Tang) in remembrance of the golden period where it seemed to defy all worldly wonders.

I remember watching on tv I was 12 years old. You know in France before ceremony, the responsible for ceremony said he didn't want something similar to Beijing Olympics ceremony. Too historical, nationalist prideful. He wanted something inclusive (woke) . I knew right away it was going to be disappointed despite few good ideas . The situation was already bad but you can't expect good event especially in a country where leaders hate French people and culture . Want to mock history and religion. Instead of showing great thing from France they did degenerate and woke ceremony like we unfortunately expect. Chinese had very patriotic ceremony and really wanted to impress the world , show good image . It is supposed to be what a country wants when organize Olympic games (historically created on the model of ancient Greece Olympic, but with nations competing against each other as an alternative of battlefield. Pierre de Coubertin was a nationalist , conservative aristocrat. He would want the Olympics to be like that. Chinese ceremony is best ceremony for me , plus the nostalgia of 2008...
