I gave birth in 2020 in Japan and I want to say before listening to everything what black women get through is honestly about the weight is a little funny but not bad. My birth and delivery was absolutely amazing with Japanese Midwives, they are so kind and tender with thw whole process and your birth plan. I wish I was still in Japan to share my experience, I'm in the states right now pregnant with my second baby and I wish I was in Japan with all of my heart. Congratulations on your lovely daughter

I am Japanese. Congratulations on the birth of your baby!🎉🎉🎉 Even Japanese obstetricians and gynecologists have different policies depending on the hospital. Some hospitals have strict calorie restrictions and poor food, so you should research reviews beforehand. But almost without exception, if you have Japanese health insurance, even if you are a foreigner, all or most of the costs of childbirth will be paid by the insurance, so you will pay practically nothing or little. Japanese people are angry because there are foreigners (people from some Asian countries) from anti-Japanese countries who abuse this system and cheat them out of their money.😡 But Japan is concerned about the decline of the country due to the declining birthrate, so people like you who are doing productive activities in Japan are very welcome. Please have lots of children and increase the population.😄👍

This was a culture shock for my wife, who's from Japan. She expected to be in the hospital for at least 4 days, but here in the US, if you are fine and the baby is fine, it's encouraged to leave with 24hrs. My first two sons had jaundice and our 3rd was a complicated pregnancy. So we stayed at least a few days. We have our 4th due any day now and we'll see how this one will be.

CONGRATULATIONS 🥳 And that bit about how certain hospitals will deny you if you can’t speak the language is understandable tbh. I can imagine a situation where a severe error could occur between the doctor and patient due to miscommunication, and how that could bring about litigation.

When my husband and I was living in Okinawa the local obgyn provided excellent care during our appointment and it was the local Dr. That took my concerns seriously and save my life, b/c my pregnancy ended up being ectopic. That emergency appointment was approximately ( two different ultrasounds and exam)$100 usd. About 9 months later we used local IVF doctors and had an amazing experience. The were so kind, patient, and transparent during the process. The price of a full cycle of IVF cost us approx 5,000 out of pocket.

@@missplainjane3905 #1 compared to the US I do think they are highly advance #2 on a scale from 1-10 I would rate all that you listed at 10 because I’ve had nothing but wonderful experience especially at local produce stands.# I find that the Okinawan people were so kind and had a peaceful demeanor. They way that they value life and their land, the island is clean! I’ve felt welcome and safe and made some really close friends that are born and raise in Oki. Three words. Safe , peace, beautiful… once living in Oki and fully embracing it once you leave there’s something about that little island that leaves a void nothing can fill . I could go on and on

Congratulations! I have had a friend who had to blow off the Japanese weight standards as well. In addition, she refused to be induced when her baby was "overdue" but waited an additional two weeks until the contractions started naturally. I'm curious. Did you use any of the stomach girdles/wraps which support the muscles during a pregnancy? That's a Japanese thing, too.
@jhayashi1772 жыл бұрын
American here. I have lived in Japan for over 30 years and when I was pregnant, my mother-in-law bought me the stomach wraps/girdles but I didn't wear them. *AFTER* the birth, they were expected by the midwife. Actually, they really helped reposition all my organs, and regaining my "figure" wasn't the challenge that so many other American/European women talk about.
@lynda.grace.142 жыл бұрын
@@jhayashi177 Interesting. This is one practice that I think more people could get behind. Support before birth for muscles that are stretching and afterwards to assist to reposition the organs makes a great deal of sense.

I live in Canada, and I don’t know what an NST monitor is. The one they wrap around your belly to hear the heartbeat? But it probably depends on the doctor. I had an amazing doctor who knew and understood me. I also had extremely short labours. They couldn’t get me hooked up to a monitor with my second one, nor was a doctor in the room. That is really cool that they want you to recover in hospital, and that you got truly good care (seriously WOW!) and that they took care of the baby too, when you needed rest, etc. That’s amazing. And the food looked like a 5 star restaurant! That’s incredible! Definitely not Canada’s typical hospital food. Lol! I’m curious where in CA you were at, but if you are private about that, I understand. I just found your channel today, and I love it!

They didn’t let my husband in the labor room during the birth and that was a bummer. 😢 But the birthing was smooth… as long as you listen to and don’t question the doctor… 😬 They did not respect my wishes to EBF. They acted like my large breast made it difficult to feed baby…. They didn’t even have a celebratory birthing meal due to COVID. 😅
