My friends who are Black Americans, but were born and grew up in Japan, had a culture shock when they moved to the U.S. as teenagers. They strongly felt and believed they were Japanese first! Their color came second. As far as they were concerned, their homeland was Japan.

If they were raised in Japan with Japanese values, they will be much better off than their peers born and raised in the USA!

What does that mean? Because alot of black people in America are shooting down other black people in society to fit in or make society feel more accepting of them.....that's what that sounds like to me

Omg😍 listening to her read in Japanese was the best!❤ My daughter is 8 so I worry how she will adjust moving from the US to japan. Tiffany reminds me so much of my daughter so hearing her expressing her thoughts is so comforting. My daughter goes to a predominantly Caucasian school and the kids kept asking about and touching her hair (we have locs) so it’s interesting to know that Tiffany experienced the same and that this will probably be a “thing” no matter the location. Even still, this lets me know that kids can thrive in whatever environment especially where love is abundant. You are doing an excellent job with her and I love how well you conducted this interview. Thank you so much for sharing❤ I hope we can be blessed with an update as time goes on to show how well Tiffany is progressing 🙏🏾 best wishes!

The best part of this is you will have this interview to compare later as she ages through the Japanese school system. I hope you continue to interview her each year because her progress with the Japanese language after 3 years is impressive. The benefits she will reap later in life will be so great.

It’s always nice to get a younger persons perspective. It shows how genuine and pure we all are until hate is taught. Fascinating! I find it it interesting she succinctly described her experience with what already seems a Japanese cultural tendency to avoid elaborating on issues she experienced which were challenging for her, almost a sort of privacy. And the apparent ubiquity of a compulsion to infringe on personal boundaries by touching the hair of someone who is Black! This will be a challenging but fantastic experience for Tiffany!

Questions: 1. How do you keep Tiffany in tune with her blackness? Do you introduce her to other black children in Japan? Let her listen to reggae music or hiphop? Watch black shows and films? 2. Do you and Janique think Japan is a good place for a black family to spend the rest of their lives? 3. What are some parts of Japan you would like to see that you haven't seen already? 4. Despite there not being a mask mandate in Japan, many Japanese people still wear masks in public. Do you wear masks as well, or are you guys over it at this point? 5. Has the Japanese healthcare system treated you well? What is healthcare in Japan like? 6. How many years have you all been studying Japanese, and how good are you? 7. Does Tiffany have any desire to see what the world is like outside of Japan? 8. Do you attend Church in Japan, if so what has that experience been like? 9. If you had another kid in Japan, would they be considered Japanese by Japan? If not, what would they be? 10. Do you have any desire to relinquish your current citizenships and become a Japanese citizen?

He has a lot of videos, watch them and you'll find the answer to many of these. Sounds like he doesn't fear his kid going to school or the store and getting killed by a mass murderer, the police or because she's black.

^ I’m sure I’ve watched more of his videos than you have, so don’t get smart with me. Most of the videos on this channel are not about him. Even if he answered some of them in random livestreams or whatever, people who are new to the channel haven’t seen them. Why not ask your own “original” questions instead of being annoying on my post?

@@busymike "Most of the videos on this channel are not about him" Most of his videos are about the Black Experience in Japan (or Asia), it's not a stretch to imagine his experiences are similar. Ronzo, this was wonderful hearing a child's viewpoint and her reading and pronunciation was great. I commend you for _choosing the public school system as she will get a better induction into the culture. Since she has only been to school in Japan, she don't have any comparison so she gave an honest reply. She has pickup a few mannerism, such as the 'humm', a slight accent. If both languages were spoken equally at home her language would be greatly improved. Do parents usually have meetings when there's an ussue? I truly comment both you and your wife for keep her face off KZbin. My son and his wife (Japanese) chose to send my grandkids to public school as it's 2 blocks (5min walk) from the house and better for them as the International school commuting is 2 trains and 15vmin walk. Thank you for the video and special Arigato to Miss Tiffany.

This video has come out at just the right time for us! In a year or so we will most likely move to Yamaguchi Japan to live/work. My daughter is 8 years old right now, in 2nd Grade and we are from Australia. I would love for her to attend the local Japanese elementary school but have been concerned about dealing with language barriers (little bit different as your daughter started much younger in Kindergarten). My other worry was around racial issues - my daughter is biracial (Australian/African American) and with her skin and hair being very different for Japanese students to see - could there be teasing & bullying? It sounds like you were able to resolve the issues quite well with the teachers. Has she been able to make close friends to have playdates etc outside of school? Thanks for sharing this video!

Thank you so much for this channel. I'm currently working on getting my N1 JLPT and have wanted to move to Japan to become a translator. I am a young Black man and I feel unsafe here in the states. I actually got attacked recently. This channel has given me a lot of hope for my future. I've gone through a lot of discrimination (particularly of the violent kind) and have been pretty down on life in general. I've researched Japan and while I've come to the conclusion that they have serious issues, it seems like a good fit for me. When I decide to have kids, I hope they have an easy time like your daughter. Thank you so much for this channel. This is gonna be weird since I'm a random guy on the internet, but I truly appreciate you for making a channel that gives me hope. God bless you and your family!
