Then when I was discharged I couldn’t order an Uber so I had to take a taxi which cost me $30 more than an Uber would have. Then I couldn’t pay because I didn’t have my wallet or phone so had to run in and get my wallet to pay the taxi. People in southern India use banana leaves for serving food on special occasions …but only because it is considered good to do so..not for showing off. Edit :- Y’all are correct . Even in northern parts of India dried leaves are used to make plates by sewing them together. Serving on leaves is also a tradition in many countries because it generates a lot less waste compared to plastic plates and cups when you’re serving a large number of people. (They decompose or can be used to make compost). Plus it is really healthy to eat from a banana leaf. But again , we do it because it’s a tradition and is done only on special occasions, not because we don’t have plates and definitely not because we’re ’too lazy to do the dishes’ . The woman in the first video was probably just looking for views because a whole meal is served on a banana leaf, not snacks that can be handheld.

Hey an Indian here! Firstly, banana leaves are natural, biodegradable, and abundantly available, making them an eco-friendly choice. Secondly, the leaves are large enough to accommodate multiple dishes, allowing for a complete meal to be served without using multiple plates Additionally, banana leaves contain strange anti-bacterial characteristics that help digestion and can destroy bacteria in food. Banana leaves have a wax covering that gives them a glossy appearance and imparts a mild flavour to the steaming food served Banana leaves play two roles here: During baking, they're a vehicle for creating the moist crumb and fruity aroma, and they also serve as a loaf-pan liner that ensures easy removal after baking Banana leaves are widely used for cooking and serving food in Asia, Africa and South America. Before the joys of modern refrigeration were discovered, people in tropical countries used to cook and wrap food in banana leaves to prevent them from spoiling. But have you wondered why people eat on a banana leaf? As per Indian culture, the banana leaf has religious importance and when we eat on a banana leaf, the food is considered 'prasad' (Offering To God During Pooja,Devotional Offering,Purity) In addition, serving hot food on banana leaves gives food a specific smell enhancing the taste and making it healthier and nutritious. I absolutely despise the waste of food. The food banks in our city are struggling to supply everyone who needs them now, and that includes A LOT of people with jobs. Sometimes people should be shamed right off of the internet. And these people are at the top of my list. Its disgusting how much food all of them combined are wasting when so many people are struggling to eat 3 healthy meals a day. Or to feed their growing children 3 healthy meals a day. 😡😡

In my country (in the Philippines), my family would use banana leaves whenever we have a family reunion in Bulacan, in my grandparents (mom-side's relatives) house. But sometimes, mostly when its independence day, and we only do it SOMETIMES in family reunion, just to celebrate the traditions because it is the traditional plating for "Kamayan" in the Philippines. But that doesn't mean you should do it everyday. In culture or not. Using dishes are more better, because its reusable with the help of motivation of doing chores 🧽🫧. Just please, do chores. PS (EDIT): THE FACT THAT IT WAS JUST PIZZA OR WHATEVER SERVED, JUST EAT IT BY HAND. OH, ITS GONNA GET GREASY?? WASH YO HANDS, DUH. I know that it isn't culture related showing in the video, but, still. As someone who partakes in this, we don't do this everyday in the Philippines.

Banana leaves are used in my country, Indonesia, often as plate especially in a more traditional setting like traditional weddings, just not so much on a daily basis. Also, we usually put them ON TOP of a woven rotan plate not just have them on the table. Don't know about other cultures but I'm pretty sure she's just doing it for the look or intentionally rage batting. Also, I hope that isn't the garbage bag and the compost bag instead because she could've easily compost the leaves given she had a large garden to grew banana trees.

I'd much prefer knowing about it, than choosing not to, you know? Like, the fact that we see through the BS in the way society works, means we can hopefully be the change in the world, and that's an incredible thing. :) Thank you, Hayley, for another great video calling this BS out. You're definitely one of my favourite creators on here.

There's no need to feel upset about banana leaves as plates! Using banana leaves as plates is a wonderful tradition in South India that has been around for ages. It's quite popular at public events where many people gather. Banana leaves are not only eco-friendly, but they also enhance the flavor of the food, are biodegradable, and serve as a cultural touchstone. Compared to styrofoam or single-use plates, banana leaves are definitely a more sustainable option. Plus, they add a special charm to the dining experience!

Each time I pass, few more things have been taken out of it ^^ sometimes humans are cute

For the kid's bags we put in little toys, kids art supplies, candy/treats, and kid's makeup in them, along with a giftcard or even a cash bill. We collected several unwanted ipsy bags from other people and I think we're nearing 300 donated bags. Just an idea. I disliked Ipsy and have only stay subbed for the bag and I usually give away the products in them.

5:31 I have a terrible relationship food, I was sent 1 summer to live with my aunt bc my single mom had to keep working and couldn’t watch me, my aunt gave me and my brother big portions that we could not finish; so we tried to throw it away. Except we couldn’t, my aunt would FORCE us to eat the food; last year things were tough for my SILL SINGLE mother and I would only eat a free school lunch a day. I would LITERALLY BEG people for food, seeing videos like “yall know that 1 person who be ALWAYS asking for food? Like yall don’t eat?? 💀” I’m not eating, I’m sorry. So this PERSONALLY pains me, you wasting food that could have gone to someone who needed it. That feeling of doing something good; is better than the feeling of a few thousand likes.
