Exellent job on the big old kirby Sam! Braver man than me - id not want to delve inside a kirby too much - which is a good job i dont do them like i used to (just got a g4 ,but thats by the by😂)

That's fantastic work what you did! Brushroll roar and agitation is insane in these. One of the best deep cleaners for carpets for sure. I have G6 (2000) and Tradition (1979). I just love them, but they have never been my daily vacuums due to the weight and size.

I believe the brushroll should be set on number 1 when new 2 when used and 3 when heavily worn

Good to know! I can't remember what setting I gave it back on now 😂 Was straight and level across the head though so hopefully it'll be alright!

The fan shell should have been sealed with 100% silicone RTV during assembly. Lot of dust will escape at the unsealed joint. New rollers are always set at 1 with 3mm of Brush exposed on the assembled head. #3 will give about 9mm of brush which will shorten the rollers life and prematurely wear out belts.
