Not that I believe this entirely but I may pose a circumstance of the tunnel. Each part is a digestive track but as coraline goes through she’s going deeper and deeper The mouth- a trap of wonderful colors and wonder The toys- the holder aka the stomach The other tunnel she goes through to go back- the small intestine And finally when she gets through the door to leave the colon/ large intestine

Hey, Congratulations!! Also, not sure if you already mentioned in the past but Ms. Spink and Ms. Forcible tell Coraline that they get all of their dogs STUFFED when they pass. They never say who stuffs them but do you think the Beldam somehow could be possible because her tools to make the dolls are from an embalming kit and she quite literally stuffs the dolls?!?! I could be over analyzing but I find a strange coincidence and possible connection. Love your videos!

In the book, I truely belive the black cat is helping Coraline. But with the changes in story in the movie, it does make a lot of sense if it it not just distant and bored but actually acting against her along with the Other mother. I had a theory inspired by Freud, that the cat symbolises Coralines Superego (the rational cold part) and the other world itself is her ID (Her disires and selfish wants). She switched between the two and chooses one at the end.

Congrats on your wedding!! But tbh I see Noir aka the black cat like the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. They both can disappear and reanimate whenever they please. They both are chaotic neutral. So Noir can both work for the Beldam and Help Coraline to get what he wants. If you think about it he likes the other world and to keep it existing he must help the other mother. However he could have gotten a liking to Coraline so he wanted to keep her alive. Its a baking a cake and eating it to situation.

Fungirl I’m from Russia, I’m a very big fan of yours and I’ve loved this cartoon since childhood, I noticed that when Beldam lures Coraline by deceiving her, at the moment where she has real eyes, she has SNOW ON HER HEAD AND CLOTHES, just like at the end of the film when Coraline saved them. I don’t know what this means, because I’m not such a great theorist like you. I constantly look at your theories!!! On Saturdays, I always wait until 4 or 5 o'clock that day for your video to come out!! I’m shocked by your findings, you are the best theorist!!!

Interesting theory! But personally I just can't see the cat as evil. I think the reasons he's vague with his advice are 1: cats are naturally more quiet, they use body language much more than they use noises. A cat that could talk would likely say few words anyway, expecting you to pick up on other cues like an arched back or pinned ears. 2: the cat does still give information about the Other World. When Coraline first arrives, the cat says "You probably think this place is a dream come true. But you're wrong.", warning her that not all is as it seems. And when Coraline asks how you can walk away from something and end up back at it, the cat explains that Coraline's just walked around the world. 3: it's quite possible that the cat is vague because he knows the beldam could be watching, listening. If the cat helps Coraline too much, the beldam could decide he's more of a liability and throw him out of the Other World. Then the cat wouldn't be able to help Coraline at all until he finds a way back in. By the time he got back, it could be too late, so the cat can't risk being thrown out; some help, even vague, is better than none at all. As for why the cat doesn't just play a game with the beldam, that's easy: the beldam wouldn't play with him. She hates the cat, even called him vermin; the beldam would refuse to play with him, and Coraline, her parents, and the souls of the past victims all stay trapped. But if Coraline plays, they have a chance at freedom. It's risky, and the stakes are high, but it's a chance that they wouldn't have if the cat offered a game.

I feel like the only thing that would even give her a heads up to Coraline being gone is seeing the chair with a pile of things on it and the key missing. If she had a bad feeling about the door that would make her forget about the groceries and look for Coraline

When I was younger I always thought of the tunnels as the Beldam’s wanting Coraline to pass between them. Like the blue tunnels are all pretty and magical looking but the dirty ones are when the Beldam doesn’t want her to come in. At the very least it could by a psychological trick to Coraline now?

I know I'm taking some creative liberties at this point, but in My Little Pony. Chrysalis is described as a change lane. Who takes the form of someone you love? Honestly, I was under the impression that the other world was just an extension of greater being. Like the Pink palace is the head and the rest is the body, the other characters are just there to help digest the food, including the Other Mother. And that's why I believe the cat never refers to the Other Mother by name, she's not the one in control.

That cat could be like the god Puck. Puck has had different interpretations in mythology and the one that comes up a lot is a trickster nature. Whether he chooses to screw over the protagonist of the story or help them in a mischievous way. The cat was definitely being mischievous when constantly interacting with Coraline.

To elaborate on the lazy eye. One of his eyes is smaller than the other. There was a girl in my school who had that as well
