Hi, I’ve made Belgian waffles but not your recipe. I don’t believe I’ve ever used pearl sugar🤔 They look delicious and thanks for sharing them with us. Enjoy the weekend and until next time…..Dolores 🥰
@BakingNicky3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dolores! Thank you! You’ll love the pearl sugar addition! Last time I was in Brussels they offered these liege waffles but also the normal kind, very different but so good in their own way 😊 Enjoy the weekend too x

can you freeze the dough balls for later use? thanks!
@BakingNicky2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried this for this recipe, but I know yeast can be forgiving when it comes to freezing but consuming within the next 2-3 days otherwise it will die Good luck!

I made Liege waffles last night. They were delicious but not as fluffy as the Liege waffles cooked at our local Belgian ice cream parlor (run by a Belgian couple). I'm wondering if she includes some beaton egg whites in the recipe.
@BakingNicky2 жыл бұрын
Hmm it’s a yeast dough, egg whites would be long deflated after the kneading But what you can try is resting the dough for a little while once shaped and before cooking like a second proofing
@markferwerda79682 жыл бұрын
@@BakingNicky I talked to the Belgian lady in the Belgian waffle shop in our town today. She said that my waffle are not as "fluffy" because I'm not including any additional sugar in the dough other than the pearl sugar. I stirred up a batch this afternoon and included sugar in addition to the pearl sugar, but I haven't baked them yet. My dough is in it's first rest so that the batch can double in size. After putting in the pearl sugar, I'll form the waffles and let them rise again prior to the waffle iron as you suggested.

Pearl sugar is made from sugar beets.

Way too complicated for waffles
@BakingNicky2 жыл бұрын
Have you tried Belgium waffles? Theyre just called waffles but do not think that they are the same as a batter-only American waffle 😉
@cocobrowny Жыл бұрын
They’re not the same as American waffles. The only similarity is that you cook them on a waffle iron. They are worth the effort (if you can really call it that - they’re not complicated at all), but if you can’t be arsed to do more than a pre-mixed thing then that’s your prerogative and I won’t judge you for it. But if you have a spare couple of hours where you’re bored and feeling experimental, try ‘em! 😊
