And guess what guys, never ever in my life have I had such delicious, crunchy waffles, and they are not too sweet at all! Thank you Michael! You guys have to try this recipe!

I'm from Belgium and I have to say; they look amazing! When I make them I put the yeast in luke warm milk first and then stirr it. It will activate the yeast. Just make sure that the milk is not too hot or it will burn and kill the yeast.

Can you confirm if this Liege waffle vs the regular softer waffle, which is more popular in Belgium? 😀
@maaikebelmans32002 жыл бұрын
@@tweewin soft ones are not really popular here. You also have waffles from Brussels. They are crispy and made with a different batter, without the sugar pearls. But allover the liege ones are most popular!
@tweewin2 жыл бұрын
@@maaikebelmans3200 I bet! I have only eaten the supermarket version, so I don't have a good comparison point. They were pretty yummy, so I cannot even imagine the fresh one! I've been trying a few recipes from American food bloggers, no winner. Haven't gotten a chance to try this version, yet. Excited to do so soon! Could you type the Brussels' version in your native language? I would like to research that, too. 😁

@ritaning5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recipe. I tried it and the waffles turned out the way I want. They smelled so good when I cooked them fresh after adding the sugar and resting. I put some dough balls in the freezer and cooked them a few days later. They tasted good too but they didn’t have the same aroma as the fresh ones.
@xKETISHx4 жыл бұрын
If you want your waffles to be done few days later and smell as good as freshly done you should put less yeast. About 2-4 grams. But you won’t be able to cook them the day you prepared the dough.

What is the brand of waffle maker you used in this video, did you spray the plates before loading on the dough balls and if you did, do you spray again as you add each new ball of dough. Thank you so much. I absolutely adore your videos.

The pearl sugar helps with the caramelization outside and adds some sweetness to the waffles. You don't really need pearl sugar. You can get rock sugar and smash it smaller. Or like myself, I didn't have pearl sugar one time, and just use regular granulated sugar to sprinkle on the top of the dough before I covered it with the top side of the waffle machine. Still yummy and works the same (created caramelization).
