It would possibly, be very, helpful to some folks, to hear a review of the Bell Star line being worn during Flat Track / Dirt Track / dusty / 'roost' conditions, the availability of shields with Tear Off posts and Tear Offs.

I personally own this helmet and it's super comfortable, flows a ton of air in when you want it, looks phenomenal with my red, black, and white 07 gsxr 600, phenomenal peripheral view...and its perfect for track and daily use. I got it for $264 on revzilla. Fantastic helmet and top notch quality. Love Love Love this helmet....and perks, it has the cut out for bluetooth speakers already 👌🏼

How does this Bell Star MIPS compare to for example the Shoei rf-1200 solid? And is it just me or does the matt black color look more like a (dark) greyish color in the photos on the webshop?
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
Both the Star MIPS and RF-1200 are DOT- and Snell-rated for safety, and both use a composite shell construction. Both are also known to be pretty quiet helmets. The RF-1200 is a bit lighter, but the Star MIPS has the additional rotational impact protection of the MIPS slip-liner. The field of view is also slightly larger on the Star MIPS, though the RF-1200 still has a large field of view. As for the matte black, it looks darker in person. Matte black will never look as dark as a gloss black though. -DrewZilla

How does this for compared to a qualifier ? I’m a size large in the qualifier and wanting to order a star Thanks!
@RevZilla4 жыл бұрын
Size wise they are very similar. The Bell Star MIPS does fit a bit tighter out of the box, however the overall head shape is nearly identical. If you have any other questions or concerns, or want to chat more about this helmet/sizing specifically, please feel free to reach out to our Gear Geeks at cs@revzilla.com or 877.792.9455. RevZilla I looked into that but it appears to be a one size fits all solution. I’m concerned that it may obstruct my vision at certain points. Maybe I’m overthinking it because of the investment I’ll be making in the helmet and shield. I’d hate to spend the money and not be happy with the setup.

I'm about to buy this. What do you mean by it won't fit your head? I'm a true Intermediate Oval myself and I just bought a small classic star and it's super small.

I'm between a Large and an XL in the Shoei RF1200 (I'm replacing my RF1100 since it's expired). The RF1100 larges fit me perfectly but I find that the 1200 is a bit smaller and is squeezing my head pretty good along the brow. How do these fit compared the the RF1100/1200 in terms of sizing? I've looked at the size chart but I find it's easier just to use something as a point of reference. I also have a long peanut shaped head and apparently these are good for that - is this true? Thanks!
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
The Bell Star fits snug like the RF-1200, but the Bell is narrower than the Shoei. If you weren't aware, Shoei offers head liners for the RF-1200 that allow you to get an in-between size. For example, the stock size large liner is 9mm thick, but you can get a 5mm liner for a looser fit around the crown. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-rf-1200-center-pad
@DarwinAllen6 жыл бұрын
I was not aware - that might be the ticket! Not a bad price on those either. I also found my chin comes out the bottom of the RF1200 when it did not on the RF1100. Is that going to be a problem? If not, I think I'll order one up with the thinner liner - if it is, I might give the Bell a whirl.
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
It's ok for your chin to stick out a little bit. -DrewZilla

I think the Bell's are sized too tight. I measured according to the instructions (exactly) and ordered a Large. It fit like a c-clamp was on my head. Now returning for a X-Large. I shoulda known, The helmet I'm replacing was a 8 year old Bell Vortex X-Large and fit like a champ. I thought (wrongly) that Bell would have corrected any wrong sizing problems in 8 years. My bad.

I’m in the same boat. My head measures 59 cm and it’s a true long oval. I take a L in my shoei hornet but an XL in my Bell MX9. I’m thinking the XL is the way to go in the Star.

Im looking for a helmet that is compatible with prescription eyewear and it says on their website that the bell star is but I don't see it on any reviews that there is a designated eyewear arm gap. What's your opinion?
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the new MIPS version of the Bell Star you see here does indeed come with and updated liner and cheek pads that accommodate glasses frames. In addition to the Bell Star MIPS, I recommend Arai, Shoei, Shark, and Scorpion for eyeglasses. -DrewZilla

Tough call, all are high quality and well made. The Shoei is slightly round, the Star is slightly narrow, and the AGV is right in between. It is nice to see Bell integrate MIPS, which the other two do not have. -DrewZilla

Got one of these the other day took the inside liner off and for some reason it just doesn't want to stay anyway I put it back.Seems it was a one time removal for some reason the plastic is not very strong and doesn't stay in place after one removal. Over nice helmet don't know if I need to keep the inside liner but it helps keeping my headset wires covered.

The comfort liner is necessary to keep a proper snug fit. Once you line up the snaps, you may need to apply a little more pressure for the snaps to click together and hold. -DrewZilla

My head is 60 cm and Large was WAY too small. It's heavier because it's safer; Bell overbuilds it so it has a lot of margin to pass Snell and get Sharp 5 star.

What do you guys recommend, the Bell Star or the Shoei RF1200? Both are Snell Certified, yet bell is 5 stars sharp rated while the Shoei is 4 Stars.

Is this the same exact Shell shape as the Pro/Race Stars? I have the prior Bell Star in a small, but it’s broken in slightly big. I’m an XS in the RF-1200. Trying to determine whether I’m going to be a XS across the bell star line. The small pro/race feels really tight but so did my current Bell
@RevZilla6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the external shell shape is the same. However, the internal shape is slightly different. The Flex Impact Liner used in the Pro/Race Stars is more accommodating to differences in head shape, but it also fits really tight. The shape of the Star MIPS is still similar to the standard non-MIPS Star, so you might try an XS in the Star MIPS. -DrewZilla

If this is a helmet designed for riding on super sport bikes which it obviously is, why do Bell market it as a helmet for upright bikes.
@RevZilla5 жыл бұрын
The regular Star actually has a different interior that orients the shell for a more upright riding position. the RACE Star rotates the interior in relation to the shell to be optimized for the 3/4 to full tuck riding position. -DrewZilla

If MIPS really worked, why doesn't Bell use it in either of their race helmets, the Race Star and Pro Star? Seems bogus.

Because Bell's 3-layer Flex impact liner used in the Race and Pro Star models has a middle layer that provides rotational protection like MIPS. MIPS is the best option when using a standard EPS construction though. -DrewZilla

It depends what features you value more. The Bell Star MIPS is DOT- and Snell-rated for safety and includes the MIPS system for better rotational impact protection. However, it is heavier than the RPHA 11 Pro. The RPHA 11 Pro is DOT- and ECE-rated for safety, has better ventilation, and is lighter than the Bell. -DrewZilla
