26:56 Thank you for this voice of reason. I read the rules book while climbing out of strong depression and it helped me get my mind together,and a year or two later the Maps of Meaning for something more philosophical. When the signs of.. well that what came next started to dominate the media surrounding the person, dropped all connection but it feels now like one must be ashamed of ever having listened to the person and there's a great deal of useful information that could be gathered from that, even if that deal became lesser and lesser over time.

Or maybe be reasonable yourself and understand that people have expertise in the field and you don't have to value their opinion on other matters and shouldn't invalidate their work and expertise in that because they talk bollocks on the topic of other fields

Slightly off topic, but The Weinstein brothers' descend from grace to megalomaniac insanity is worth a video in itself. I know the word grifter is very trendy and gets passed around easily, but these two actually fit the definition perfectly.

What the internet does to intelligent people who are qualified in one or two fields and then gain a large audience is it gives them the illusion that their opinions carry weight across the board. Sprinkle in some personal trauma, distrust of authority and conventional thinking (often for justifiable reasons, at least at the beginning) and some powerful incentives and you have a mixture which tends to twist a mind towards crankiness and audience capture.

Letting Kamala go over time endlessly Rich? Sometimes maybe they did, but they allowed Trump to have the last word on most of the questions and he ended up with 7 more minutes of talking time than her. Cmon now! Keep up the good worth, love these videos!
@arthurchen64643 ай бұрын
It's kind of wild to hear Rich, a journalist by trade, to think CNN without an ounce of fact-check did the best job at moderating. In this Trumpian post-truth era of politics, journalists need to learn to fact check politicians who constantly and consistently lie. Post-truthers like Trump got to where they were because media simply didn't know how to deal with them. They knew how to push back on traditional politicians who maybe outright lie once or twice per 10 minute interview, and sneak in 3-4 slimy dodges along the way. They didn't know how to deal with politicians who lie blatantly on every single subject. Now they're finally learning how to deal with constant lies, and we're all the better for it.

1:41:27 - from my recent observations in Europe, often times even if you try to have rational discussions about the pros and cons about immigration you are often being put into the right-wing corner, even if there are valid left wing arguments against (mass-)immigration. That makes rational conversation very difficult. I might be wrong but at least from what I have seen the "corner-putting" seems to be going into only one direction most of the time which is now causing a backlash. It is overcorrection from years of "foreigners bad" politics decades ago. We as a society have gotten very bad in ousting the lunatics from groups, be it political, religious or any other.

The weird thing about the dogs and cats thing, except the amazing memes, is that it kinda caters too the deep conservatives (took ur jebs kinds). Are there really undecideds who would swing either way on immigration which have Ohio cats as main concern? Not the people who's been killed, NYC, drug trade, potential sleeper cells etc. Such a long shot to even think you'd get a single voter like this. Cat ladies sure aint voting for him.

Watched them eat people in Haiti during the chaos in their country in 2023, accepted it as real and terrible. The thought of them eating animals in 2024, preposterous and racist!
@ericocke47163 ай бұрын
When there is no evidence of them eating pets, and then you equat cannabist gangs with the entirety of their population, yes, it does come off as racist.
@Lucaz993 ай бұрын
What are you talking about? You watched them? Who is them? The entire country? I know of 1 video from 2021. How many cannibalism incidents from Haiti you know of? You’re making cannibalism sound routine in Haiti just to make a point that we should believe these claims Haitian immigrants are eating people’s pets. It’s not preposterous and racist but it’s certainly xenophobic as hell to just believe this outright without evidence.

This is the most biased reporting I've ever seen. You only focused on positive things the haitians brought to the city and gave zero coverage of the negatives, like legacy citizens being denied government benefits because the offices are swamped with haitians, to haitians being given driver's licenses before they even learn how to drive. Someone actually went to the city and did pretty good reporting on all this, you conveniently left out all of it.
