Saturday the 18th May, running the Belvoir Castle parkrun.
227th parkrun and 1st at Belvoir Castle.
First time at Belvoir Castle and bit of a cooler misty morning. Was fortunate to be able to make it to the last running of the winter route through the grounds of the castle, before they switch over to the summer course through
Started nice a quick with a descent through the trees away from the castle, with definitely the fastest opening mile for a parkrun, maybe one of the fastest miles! Mile 2 and 3 started slowing down as the gradient increased, the final stretch was excruciating and ground to an almost full stop before going over the top of the hill and dropping back down for a sprint to the finish
Official finishing time of 20:48
6th placed finisher out of 124 and 2nd in the 40-44 age group
My PB remains at Clumber Park parkrun 19:28 ( • Clumber Park, parkrun ... )

Great run Matt, that last half mile looked tough. Well done to the 2 buggy runners

Cheers Jeff, yeah that last bit was brutal. The 2 buggy runners were flying and there was another not far behind too !

Done Belvoir myself twice Matt, and both times I sounded just like you over the last quarter of a mile!!!!

Ha ha, yeah, it's got quite the sting at the end, will have to go back and see if I can finish it without crashing on that final ascent!

Good run on Saturday and good place to bag a fastest mile on Strava😂😂. I spoke to you at the start and briefly near the cafe, definitely more time to come if you did it again I'd say.

Cheers, yeah, it is a really nice opening mile or so, not sure about that final one, though 😂 It was good speaking to you, will have to return again for the summer course and then back to try and improve on the winter route!
