Since the Fiscer Ocean is gonna be build in Austria in the same factory as the Mercedes G, built quality should be pretty solid!

Upvotes on this show how common this misconceptions is. Mercedes factories don't have any magic build quality tools or expertise. You should see how badly built Merceds EQS early production units were. It's an iterative process that every automaker has to go through for new models. EQS even had all their cars recalled because of damage to steering wheel safety during assembly process. Yup. And Ford recalled all Mach-e cars because the poorly installed glass roof had high risk of flying off. You would think 120 year old company would know better. Nope. It's the same iterative process for every brand. Every automaker has the same tools, robots, stamping machines and testing tools. Mercedes isn't anything special. Also, Mercedes hasn't invented anything revolutionary since the Carburetor which are already obsolete.

I think for personally, the Fisker looks too... 'Futuristic'? It's like when they designed the car they tried to make it scream 'future' with the wacky bump in the 'D' pillar area, the inset headlights, and very small taillights. I suppose at the end of the day, there's a market for that! In the same way that every other person owns an Audi A1, Audi A4, or BMW 330d (Here in the UK at least), there's a market for the Model 3 and Y too even as they become increasingly common. (Though I do think most people buy a Model 3/Y for the drivetrain, charging network, and interior features such as seat comfort, sound system, and features of the center display, over the exterior looks!)

It think what might age the Ocean is more the graphics than the proportions. That step up in the windows might be of it's time and the name of the car at the front. The thing is if Fisker plans to have all new cars after 8vyears like legacy makers it probably won't matter I'd it ages. This is probably more a Tesla concern since the Model S is ten years old now. If someone told me that it was the follow up generation of a 1994 Renault Laguna or a 1996 Opel Vectra, I would've believed, because of how dated that design looks. And besides, in Model Y (as well as in Model 3) because of the extra height, proportions look all wrong.

We've got a reservation in for a Fisker. ... Agree 100% about the rotating display - when, realistically, would I actually use that feature? And the interior looks better with it in portrait mode, imho. The only real design complaint I have is that I wish they (and other companies) would do away with the fake grill. I don't mind the negative space there - it's just, why make it look like a stylized ICE grill?
@ReeisLive2 жыл бұрын
Do they give you a delivery date? I was thinking about ordering one.
@FrankBlissett2 жыл бұрын
@@ReeisLive Actually, I can update my original post. Short answer: No. ... When I originally posted, we had a "reservation", which was a (90%) refundable deposit for a spot in line. A reservation for a Fisker is not a promise from you or Fisker for when or even if the sale goes through. ... Since my post, Biden's "Inflation Reduction Act" was set to make major changes to the EV tax credit in the USA, which would have disqualified the Ocean's 2023 (and possibly 2024) production run. There was a phase-in allowed, though - if you had an order made for a car before the IRA became law and the car is delivered in 2023, it would still qualify. ... So, Fisker slapped together a process where reservation holders could convert their refundable "Reservation" into a non-refundable "Order". No delivery date, though. Just "late 2023" for the trim line we want.

We have an early Model Y only issue is bummed it does not have a heated steering wheel. Had a few little minor issues when I picked it up resolved in minutes. . The only money I have spent in two and half years is one air filter replacement and a jug of windshield fluid. I LOVE my Y it’s awesome and drives like a dream. I love my car and baby it something I have never done with my Audis or Benz there is just something so advanced and amazing about my car that I know I am driving the future and it does not get old. None of these others cars come close to it. We are on our third model S and I will say we have had more issues with the S then the Y but again all pretty minor over the life of the three cars. Love them and the power in the latest one is insane. . You want an awesome car get a Y S or 3 you jsut cant go wrong and you want reliability get a Y you want minimal cost to maintain get a Tesla and if you have range anxiety get a Tesla and go anywhere. When at a super charger its all so seamless and the chargers work unlike all the vids I see for non Tesla chargers that do not work. I do not get paid to say these things I simply am telling you about our experience and of anyone we know who has a Tesla or those we meet along the way. For now Tesla is the only choice. Eventually these other companies will figure it all out but for now Tesla rules. Can’t wait to receive my Cyber Truck. Maybe its all because I am a sci fi guy. You have to do more research when you do reviews. You missed SO, much on the Fisker Ocean. The screen does rotates only while in park. Also there are more rear light on the top back that are integrated to make up for the slick thin lights. Your review is ok but you lean to much to Tesla.

The Fisker looks beautiful. Incredible design. From the side the Tesla looks so much like a Honda Civic it's crazy... Teslas are just bland.

The Fisker's C/D pillar area is a hot mess and the concept wheels are kooky to say the least. The black Fisker has nice wheels but that profile back section can't be fixed like the wheels. It has a great front and rear end and that stance(!) I mostly like the Fisker design more but it'll age like a 2010 Lincoln MKT. It has a sharp shoulder line but they decided to kink it up and add silly little windows. I'd go with the Tesla.

those silly little windows are fully functional "dog windows" and if you have ever had a pup that insists on taking great gobs of air despite the rain or cold, they are a godsend over having the rain hit you in the side of the head as you drive 🙂

Not sure about the Tesla having a bean shape but I see it more of a used bar of soap. LOL😂

There's no contest. Fisker is the obvious choice because of the design, originality, price and range, as well as more or less guaranteed build quality from Magna Steyr. On that last note, Teslas are known for crappy build quality, at least the ones we get in Northern Europe.

I see a little bit of Range Rover Evoque in the Fisker

Fisker looks like a Skoda...hahaha...but more options for the buyers better for the BEV transition.

Model Y looks very dated already... Fisker looks so much better. you are also using old pictures of the interior of the Ocean.

We all know Tesla is more of a software company and it's not debatable that their software will be leagues better than Fisker, which would be a major purchase reason for me

And Tesla's Supercharging network is amazing. Charging on non-Tesla chargers on long trips is super painful if at all possible.
@robertemery5272 жыл бұрын
Yes, perhaps, but after a certain point, sans FSD (which I could't care less about), just how much software do I need?
@mydutube2 жыл бұрын
@@robertemery527 Everything in our life has become a compute modality. Cars are no exceptions. Most people rejected early iPhone models as expensive toys (which they kinda were) but as the technology evolved to become more mature and useful, iPhones and smartphones became a necessity for everyone. People who own a Tesla for a while get addicted to things like autopilot, navigation screen, over the air improvements, remote control features etc. FSD is an expensive toy right now but it's optional anyway.

I sold my Model Y just for business opportunity and going to buy Fiskers Ocean ultra 👍😀 $49,999 minus $7,500 tax rebate, another business opportunity

Tesla believes that as long as they call their ev's Suv it is an Suv. Fisker Ocean knocks them right in their face. Make room for a real SUV, the Fisker Ocean😁👍.

I think if you want your car to look like a jellybean then yes the Tesla is the way to go.

Fisker is not bad but it's a little busy, particularly the front is of a lower budget type language. The multicolor logo will tend to clash. It's a bit like a Mini countryman, some range rover but it's not a big vehicle. A lot of moving windows will cost them for a 37k budget. The spin screen is ambitious but without a cause. Dash is 3esque, pretty good. There doesn't seem to be any attempts at autopilot which puts them increasingly behind. It's not going to be easy coming in between Tesla and established automakers and make money in supply constraints and inflation. The Karma could have been good if it wasn't so heavy and it was pure electric and fast. 6.9 seconds today might also be too little.

I totally agree with you. The Fisker will not age well. It is the same as every other suv

Haha true, but I'm not sure many cars do. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that? I love the look of the Range Rover. Fisker Ocean def has Evoque vibes.

LOL it is a Fisker claim car versus actually real car that is tracking to be the best sold car in the world and safest in class with world leader in charging network. makes no sence to compare before Fisker is battle tested
