@@Tool0GT92 Absolutely. And it does unless the battery is dead in the fob. My Ocean is my daily driver and I probably have to touch the fob to the panel under the steering wheel about once every few months. So, I change the fob battery. Which is way more often than it should be but not something I think is worth harping on when it costs about $0.80 for a battery and takes about 20 seconds to change every few months. Again, the fob sucks but it isn't as bad of an ordeal as many make it out to be. My lock/unlock buttons also work almost all the time. Can't remember the last time they didn't. And, like many Ocean owners, I have two fobs and two NFC cards.

History is funny to go back and watch. Understanding the key fob issue, you can touch the fob to the door handle and it will open, and touch it to the left side interior panel and it will recognize. But not to dilute the pain early owners felt, especially for a $70k car, I would up buying one for $26k, and it's been a month and I love. Already 1,148 miles, 2 round trips to LA, and a non-stop Vegas run, and the car drives like a champ. No issues, other than rear reading lights pop on and off during night driving. But next to my 2010 BMW 550GT, this has been my favorite car ever. I really wish they had kept it together, got the software right and continued developing the car, but it is what it is. Too bad society will miss out on having the Fisker Pear, an 250-range EV for $30k new, but I'm sure we'll survive somehow.

Range dropped about 10% from warm weather driving and the lack of battery preconditioning plays a part in this- but ALL EV’s suffer in cold weather range. I am waiting on 2.2 update and have ordered 20” rims and Blizzak snow tires for the winter as i am looking forward to taking it over some mountain passes this year. As long as the car is safe, i plan to drive it as long as i can get support for any issues- and thanks to a network of mobile and in-location service partners, i am good for at least the short term.

Does the warranty covers any issues or you have to pay out of pockets? I want to buy one
@memyselfundeye3 күн бұрын
@ luckily, no issues yet. Technically there IS NO WARRANTY, but the new Fisker Owners Association has arranged for new waterpump installs ans software updates. The pumps should be free but reimbursement on the labor is not 100% guaranteed and it could cost $250-$500 out of pocket. Back before bankruptcy i had the mobile tech swap out the air vents and clear all the software faults and manually update to 2.0 where i am now. DO NOT buy one unless they give you a new 12v battery and the vents are 100% operational which you wont know until you’ve taken a long test drive and have changed AC settings, vent directions, fan speed, etc. its also important to run the car around a while, turn it off and get out and lock it with FOB and NOT unlock it for 10-15 minutes to allow it to deep sleep. This clears errors , but also reveals any possible niggling issues (vents, overhead console fan, etc). Be sure to check on the settings the “software and Updates” tab to see what actual version is installed. Don’t buy it unless it gets 2.2- the latest and possibly the last available update.

And I still didn’t get 2.2, hope to aquire it soon Positives for me are: 1) cool look; 2) very comfort suspension 3) very comfort seats 4) long range

It's pretty interesting seeing people with some credibility reviewing a car without even basic knowledge of its features or design choices. This review is as lame as the one made by MKBHD. When the car can detect your key fob, it's because its battery is too low. In this case, you have to HOLD the key fob near the NFC reader on the lower LEFT side of the panel. Also, the sad theatrical play where the reviewer is unable to shift is caused because the seatbelt is not buckled up - and the car did not detect a key, which is what you expect it to do. The Ocean cannot be driven without the seat belt. It will also constantly chime is a passenger is unbuckled. The infotainment is not lagging anywhere close to was is depicted. It's actually faster than many recent EVs I tested lately, including the Mach-E, the Tesla M3. Their implementation of one-pedal driving mode with 3 levels of regen is available - it's perfectible but it's good enough to seldomly use the brake pedal. For the "lane centering", the car does have "lane keeping" where it will chime upon leaving your track and the steering will correct your trajectory. The Ocean is far from perfect. The latest 2.2 software is a serious leap forward but still has quirks. Meanwhile, for the price to get one today, it's a seriously nice ride. Overall, this is a sad, biased and deceptive review. When you review cars and want to show some credibility, just at least RTFM.

The most ridiculous thing about this is that car companies seem to think $70,000 is affordable. The overwhelming majority of people can never afford something like this. According to nearly every loan calculator I can find, that's roughly a $1,400 a month car payment. An individual would have to be making north of $150,000 a year in order to afford that on top of a mortgage/rent payment, utilities, food, etc.

Tuckers were notoriously bad as transportation. Yet they are worth a ton today. For the avg buyer, having to do this would be a disaster. Fisker is a sad story. The car is nice looking and had potential to succeed but it took too long to reach the market and then its software was clearly not ready. That was disastrous and the final nail in Fisker’s coffin.

Almost bought one of these until I found out about all these issues.

This guy is not even placing the Key on the NFC reader. The NFC reader is on the left side of the steering wheel....why are you awkwardly tapping it on the right side?

Would be kind of cool if it got open sourced lol Want to see what hackers and modders would do

THIS is why you don't buy new cars because you pay to be the test subject of the brand. No matter which brand, if you plan to buy a car (not leasing) go for a 4 years old Toyota or Honda after you check all the recalls issued by the brand.

At $13k, I'd just scrap it for parts. I'd think you would get more just for the battery.

ioniq5 N has boost mode and yet they never limit the usage.. Fisker really messed up
@memyselfundeye10 күн бұрын
Its no big deal. I just use Extreme mode when i want to embarrass the tuner morons with the burping farting exhaust systems at the red lights. 17,100 miles on my ONE and ZERO boosts used so far.

I'm curios how much the loss of value is Fisker being dead vs EV depreciation

Having consumers pay for the recall with the promise of reimbursement is literally a scam

'Murica, only country with rich enough people to take a chance on a fisker. Possibly the only country where a dealer could sell such a thing and say that buddy its your problem now
