Please don't get a duck. Rescues are the exception. But the sale of chicken and duck eggs results in the chicks imprinting on the humans then often ending up in shelters or never getting to see their natural water habitats.

This guy is fooling himself if he actually think that duck likes him, get that duck a buddy and watch how fast that duck will want nothing to do with him. I have 16 ducks and 6 geese, Likes Corvus said, the only reason this duck likes the guy is because it has imprinted on the guy and that all it knows. If you want ducks you need to get atleast 2 as they are very social animals.

I had a duck like this. He was amazing! I have pictures of us all sitting around the table playing cards and board games, and he would always win! “Pay the duck” became a frequently used phrase in our house. He would run to the door with the dogs when the doorbell rang, and was best buddies with my oldest shepherd. He also loved the cats! You two are lucky to have each other!

Cool duck! We used to have 4 of them, but they were very grumpy and wouldn't let us handle them. They were also smelly, phew! BUT, they were a lot of fun to watch and I never got tired of looking at the green iridescence of their feathers (the ducks were black) and the smoothness and streamlined shape of their heads and bodies. They were a riot when they chased my dog around. In the mornings they'd make a raucous to be let out of their coop so they could run around the yard and scoop up all the slugs that had surfaced during the night. They and the chickens made for great pest control. I miss all of them...

Check and double check those heat lamps in the shed. Make sure they’re never left on for too long and try to get quality ones. I’m writing reports on barn fires and they’re the number one reason for fires in winter. Absolutely love this story!

I grew up on the water, on the sound. We had lots of ducks, most we raised from little chicks we got, then from them having their own, along with other wild ducks that showed up to eat the crushed corn we fed them. I loved feeding them, you could sit on the ground and they would sit down beside you not afraid. One winter during hunting season, most of them flew too far out. Then we were down to just a few.

I bonded with my chicken because she was the runt and she was bullied. She always seemed special because she was never afraid of me as a chick. Anytime I put my hand in front of her, she jumped on my hand and fell asleep. Today she is actually the largest chicken we have.
