30 seconds on the clock, you make 3 moves, you wait 10 seconds for the computer to read those 3 moves, lose on time

I closed my eyes for the last 30 seconds and tried to just follow & understand what was going on, I was completely lost and clueless within 10 seconds. I don't know how Eric manages to play a game at the same time and end up with mate in 1 only to flag due to no fault of his own. Newfound respect unlocked right there. 🥇🧠💪👏

Good players have memorization techniques, they need it to memorize so many openings, good GM's can do it for many many boards.

@@CeilingPanda its not really about memorization as much as visualization. You only need to remember one thing. The board. The hard part is visualizing it.

@@CeilingPanda Yeah you are a little bit off in your understanding. I agree with @Jordan Taylor. When Eric answers this question on Twitch he contradicts what you say. Also, he's not a GM, but can do more than one board at a time. Also, how many is "many many boards" in number terms? I have taken part of more than one simul exhibition before Covid, but "many many" is not a number.

Eric Rosen Yes... the chess board is pretty much ingrained in my mind. It helps to have dedicated well over 10,000 hours to the game. I can compare it to visualizing a room in your home. You see/experience it so often that you can visualize it and remember where all the furniture is.

So i was in Bens chat then was here when he raided, FenBinegold donated to Ben and suggested that Ben would get crushed every game if he played 2200s with Queen odds, Ben said itd be about 50/50, Ben asked Eric (which is what youre seeing here) and Eric agreed later when he understood what was being asked after the game finished.

Do you simply imagine the entire chess board in your mind? Or is there another way of remembering where your pieces and opponents pieces are?

My tip would be to split up the board into the four quadrants and try to visualise each one individually. Do exercises such as moving a knight around a 4x4 quadrant etc.

(Off topic) I haven't seen Eric play the Scandinavian as black. I've been following you for some time now and I haven't watched a single game using this opening (there's one where'd you taught us how to counter it), but I'm really intrigued to see you play this opening, knowing that you favor aggressive openings such as the Stafford as black

GMs and even Carlsen also uses Scandi in their streams; not saying that this opening should be used in tournaments, but with Eric's talent in analysis and positioning abilities, it is really intriguing how he will perform midgame using scandi

That's not fair because his clock is running down while the voice is still saying the previous moves. Ideally the time shouldn't count until the voice has said the move.

This just makes me miss your streams. Also, the speech synthesis delays and typos need a longer increment to be fair. And TTS muted during blindfold. But anyway, that guillotine blade got jammed in the frame 1 inch from your opponent's King's neck. Oh well, digested food happens.
