Love these sorts of series uncle ben where u instead of like other guitar teachers teaching just merely notes involved in,,you actually break down the solos and give briefing about the guitar theory involved so that we guitar players at intermediate level can actually relate our theory to the practical use and learn a lot. Once again thank u uncle ben and I m hoping for more of these sorts of "breakdown of solos" in the coming days so that we can up our level of guitar playing in these quarantine days. Love from Nepal uncle ben and take care🇳🇵🇳🇵🤘🤘

Marty Friedman solos kill me. They're so tastefully melodic that they don't sound as blisteringly fast as they are.. let alone this sill being the gold standard in guitar playing for me, 30 years after it was recorded.

When the album came out I had a friend on his way to the airport to fly home to Michigan from Alabama. He went about 30 minutes out of his way just to stop by and have me listen. I had a dual cassette deck and ripped it in about 3 minutes. I was hooked after Take No Prisoners. I may never get it right....I have never exercised the patience to learn what I am actually doing. Pawn shops eventually got all my guitars until the Washburn I lost in the divorce. All I have at the moment is an Alvarez acoustic. Been that way quite a while. But I do enjoy picking it up and trying one more time. No telling how many times I have tried. Nobody sounds like Marty. That album raised the bar forever. You reckon he is considered tall in Japan? Definitely considered big.... by everybody that ever hears him.

When Marty's playing, or what we hear as the hirajoshi scale, he's almost always just playing arpeggios with notes added in between for effect, as is the way he describes in instructional videos
@BenEller Жыл бұрын
That’s correct. I oftentimes see people prescribing all kinds of super technical and obscure scale names to what Marty is doing, when in reality, he’s a VERY arpeggio-minded player.

that vibrato on the 12th fret at 1:47 i think should actually be on the 2nd string 15th fret right after you bend the 15th on the 1st. Kinda like those pre-bend type things where he bends into the above string then bends that above string down as in like one full note if that makes sense. I never really learned theory but yea thats one thing i noticed that people always miss about marty solos. I think Chris Zoupa actually got that part right on his vid. Another example is on the skin o my teeth solo and also foreclosure of a dream solo. It kinda sounds like "yeee-hawww" with yeee being the 1st picked string then hawww being the 2nd plucked string...if that makes sense. lol
