I've seen that cheap loads have a very straight crimp on the tip of the shell. federals have a nice rounded crimp.they cycle better .nice video

Thanks, it is a fantastic shooter. I have a friend who prefers the Montefeltro over my Ethos. It loves the 1 oz loads. I will say that with this gun, you will have to be ok with the magazine tube only holding 3-4 rounds. You cannot extend that as the barrel lug is small. Not unless you know a really good gunsmith who can remove the lug, weld on a larger one and modify the fore end stock and barrel nut. But this gun is one of my all time favorites. Gas guns may give some lighter recoil, but I shot 250 rounds through this gun in one shoot and it didn't even give me a red spot on the shoulder and no soreness the day after. And I was shooting Winchester 2-3/4" heavy lead shot, 1-1/8 oz loads. It's a sweet gun.

more money isn’t always better. like a gun from benelli over twice the price might not be how you want it. I personally have the Montefeltro and I don’t think I could buy a shotgun better than this thing. It’s insanely reliable and durable.

I have the SX4 not sure if they changed something but mine is a month or so old mine barely recoils at all it has a soft pad maybe it doesn’t fit mine I have not shot the Beneli I know they make great guns

BH NV I know. I tried 3 different mic setups. If I got one that cured the wind, it blasted your ears with the shots. But I’ve moved from New Mexico now. Currently in Kansas. Hopefully making some more videos soon. It is a sweet gun though!!!

I'm about to buy my third Monty. I grew up with The old franchi and A5's. My Monty's have thousands and thousands of rounds through a 12 and a twenty. After about 14 years I've figured out all you do is replace the magazine follower, mag cylinder, mag spring, and inertia spring. Then wait another 15 years....

What model number is yours? I purchased one yesterday and it said “2+1” capacity at the shop but I read online that they are all “4+1” capacity

When you pull off the barrel cap, hold the barrel and forearm tight and point the barrel to the ground. A thin aluminum rod will fall out. Don’t let the barrel fall off. But that aluminum rod is the mag tube plug or shell limiter. When installed it only allows 2 in the mag tube. Remove the plug and it holds 4.

I’m kinda thinking it might have been. One of the reasons I got rid of it. It was not even close to my SX3. My buddy shot it too and he’s a big dude and he said it kicked hard too. Funny you commented on the Montefeltro as I did sell it after I bought the Ethos. Got a fantastic offer on it too. But I just picked up another Montefeltro but this one was a Silver Featherweight 20 GA. I have the video uploading right now with footage of my M4 and a modded 870 pump in the same video. I figured I’d put all 3 in one video instead of 3 separate ones. Thanks for watching!

Thats weird. The SX4 is one of the TOP shotguns the get great reviews. Everybody says gas guns recoil less than inertia.

I’ve heard this from so many people that I just wonder if I got a dud. But I had a friend with me who also said the SX4 was brutal in recoil. And these were not hot loads. Just a box of field loads. I shot the same loads in the Montefeltro and it was nothing. About a month later or so, I bought an Ethos and that’s the lightest shooting gun I’ve ever shot with field and target loads. I shot over 500 rounds in a weekend and didn’t have any soreness at all. I mean no red spot on my shoulder and no soreness. It is amazing. You can feel 3” magnum loads but even those are not that bad. Benelli knows how to do it.

Just bought a Benelli Montefeltro 24" barrel, cal 12/3". Had it up against Winchester SX4, Beretta 390 & 391 Urika, and Remington. No way in hell it'd be one of those. Benelli is far better.

P E J Yes, I do agree with you. That was a good list to choose from but Montefeltro is a superb shotgun and in another class. I have an Ethos and comparing the two, there’s no difference in shooting. You got a good one! Thanks for the comments!

Yeah, I have owned Benelli Super Black Eagle (12/3.5" semi, first gen) and Benelli Nova (12/3.5" pump), as well as shortly a Benelli M3 Super-90 with both smoothbore and rifled barrel. Very pleased with those.

The SX4 must not fit you very well or something. I own a Montefeltro and much prefer it but it definitely doesn't recoil less than the SX4. The SX3 was a much better gun though as you said. Not sure what winchester was thinking

I sold both. The Montefeltro was sold because someone offered me a fantastic price. I also have the Ethos so I let it go. I have since bought another Montefeltro 20 ga Silver. The SX4 was traded.

You should watch me shoot my new 870 Tactical with a solid steel folding stock in the video I’m uploading now. Bird shot was nothing. The buckshot bought broke my jaw! LOL. I’ll be looking for some low recoil rounds for that steel stick. No recoil reduction at all!

You should try one. I’ve shot tons of shotguns and normally you will almost always get better recoil reduction with a gas gun. Especially shooting 3” and 3.5” shells. But with field loads, this thing soaks it up fine. My Ethos is even better.

I was thinking the same thing. I had a Benelli Montefeltro 20 gauge for 10 years (not even a 12 gauge), and that thing would *wear your shoulder out* with basic birdshot loads. I ultimately had to go back to a Remington 1100 that wouldn't beat me up so badly. Kornholeeoo must have gotten one of the ultra-rare soft-shooting Benellis.

I think it depends on a lot of things and if you are recoil sensitive. I have the Benelli Montefeltro in 12 gauge and its great soft shooter. I had a Weatherby model 82 gas gun that beat me up until I got proper mount and stance. Then I could shoot 100 bird sporting clay events without any trouble or bruising. Take my Montefeltro on 3 day pheasant hunts and multi day dove hunting trips. During inclement weather the Monti is my backup sporting clays gun and normally shoot main event followed by super sporting clays event. Is the Montefeltro softer shooting them my pump, or my side by side, yes it is. Is it softer than my over and under, no it is not. It is softer shooting than my old Weatherby gas gun but not softer than my buddies Beretta A400 gas guns. There are many gas guns that are not as soft shooting as the A400. I shoot pump clay 100 bird events and side by side 100 bird events many times same day and its no problem for me but the Montefeltro is softer shooter. I think recoil is too subjective and we all handle it differently.

That's what I was thinking...I bought a montefeltro silver last week and low brass 7.5 shot federal beat the hell out my shoulder...one of the hardest kicking shotguns I've shot

The bottom line is alot of men are simply soft these days. Soft in the head and soft in the body. I haven't ran across a rifle or shotgun that has ever bothered me to the point of complaing about it. And I upland hunt only. I start at 7am and walk until sundown. I stop fot a break at the truck once. Shoot and shoot and carry and walk and yeah there days I end up locked up pretty good the next day but I do it all over again anyway. People just gotta stop being such wimps.
