I've been using the ProArt P16 for 3 months now, and I have to say, it is a beast!!! I create video content and graphics, and I also edit and produce my own sound with Ableton Live. It's always smooth and fast, like nothing I've ever seen before. As for the support, there was an issue with a BIOS update causing the laptop to bootloop, so I contacted them through the dedicated app they offer to ASUS users, and they assisted me until the issue was resolved.

I think a really important thing that you haven't mentioned is the flexibility of the laptop. Like you mentioned with the bounciness, using a pen is not that great when it cant bend backwards. To me that's a huge downside especially when I'm trying to work on-the-go and I can't carry my large drawing tablet.

Hey Ben, I have a random question for you. I don't know if you have a 64GB P16 around, but if you do, could you go into your system info in Windows and see if you have 64GB usable? I got one of these the other day, and although 64GB is installed, Windows (and all applications that show this type of info) indicate only 32GB usable.

Hey Ben, thanks for the vid. Just in a market of a new laptop. Im wondering if 32gb ram is enough for me? The price difference for a 64gb seems to be quite big so im not really sure if its worth the money. Mainly Davinci Resolve video editing up to 4k. Thanks.

I think having a higher refresh rate with the OLED display might make it consume even more power, draining the battery faster but I think they can mitigate that by turning down to 60Hz when unplugged and 120Hz when plugged in

@kennethderamus7946Ай бұрын
@BillHughesVideo So I bought one, and of course, it immediately had the boot loop issue 24 hours after I set it up. Fix from the people on Reddit, was to flash an older version of BIOS. That did work, but it still made it do a full system restore, so I would have lost everything if I had actually used the thing. I contacted ASUS and let them know about the issue, back the light was the first time they had heard about it. But it turned out that I did make them aware that they had released a corrupted bios. They have since come out with two newer bio updates, 312 and 313. Both seem to be running stable on my machine after 2 weeks now I will say however, so far this machine is not all it's cracked up to be. If I run it in any kind of battery saving mode, it's very laggy, and you can't run video editing software like DaVinci. So if you turn the performance on, the batter is gone in like 2 hours. I'm still in my return window, struggling with what to do.

Thanks for the review Ben. I remember seeing one video of the preview of this Asus laptops from earlier this year at a convention that showed someone briefly using the Asus pen to draw on the trackpad of the P16 like someone would with a Wacom tablet. I am not sure if this is something that actually works in this manner with pressure sensitivity? Or maybe it was the trackpad registering the tip of the Asus pen as it would with the tip of a finger driving the cursor on the screen. Just curious. Also was wondering if the Asus pen allows for changing the buttons layout in similar manner as a Wacom pen. Thank you Ben. Cheers.

Yes, it's "Lightroom Denoise" which uses "AI" for denoising and needs a modern GPU, which makes most laptops with iGPUs unusable for photographers if they sometimes need to denoise RAW images (it can take minutes with iGPU versus 10-30s with a dedicated GPU per picture).

It's the exact same chassis as the G16 2024, only with a 4k 60Hz panel instead of the 1600p 240Hz one and that dial pad thingy on the TouchPad. Also, it doesn't have that slash lighting on the lid. You can also buy it with 64 gigs of RAM unlike the G16 which tops out at 32 gigs. That's literally the only difference between the two I believe, and the lettering on the keys is more 'professional', so to speak.

What is better for 3d modeling? Asus pro art with rtx4070 and 64gb of ram or Asus Zephyrus G16 with rtx 4080 and 32 gb of ram? Does 4K screen make any difference in 3d modeling? At the Best Buy they are priced the same $2699
@BenGKaiser3 ай бұрын
I’d go RTX 4080 for 3D Modeling.
@statusquoreject3 ай бұрын
I'm an industrial designer and so 3d modeling and rendering. Most CAD programs use your RAM and GPU. Depends on the software you use but programs like SolidWorks or Rhino prefer Nvidia Quadro cards which aren't in any thin laptops for cooling reasons. The 4080 is a much better GPU than the 4070, but it also depends on the how much power the GPU is getting so look at the wattage as well. If the 4070 gets more power than the 4080 it will perform better but I'm almost positive the 4080 gets more power and I think Nvidia caps the power at 100w anyways. 60hz doesn't matter in 3d modeling but may cause jittery movement when rotating a model depending on the size and complexity of the 3d model. if you can does the 64gb RAM then the p16 should be fine, but I think the price point is ridiculous for a 60hz screen and I'd lean to a g16, only downside with the g16 is its limited to 32 GB of RAM.
