Hey Ben, the image you used at 13:25 - the part where you mentioned Chinese moveable type - that image is actually Korean. I really enjoy your presentation, as a self-taugh graphic designer this kind of material is so helpful to me. Thank you for the great work!

Great video, I just want to make one correction that I haven't seen others mention. When you said the German Bauhaus designers were kicked out of Germany, you switched from saying Nazis to Communist. The Nazis were not communist, they were fighting the communists in Russia and they jailed and deported socialists and communists, of which many Bauhaus members were (which is why they were persecuted).

Bauhaus was fantastic! Thank you for this video! But please be careful, Nazism is not a branch of communism! Most of the artists, as well as philosophers, thinkers, scientists etc., fled to America from Nazi Germany during the thirties and forties while trying to save their lives and families because, mostly, they were of Jewish or any other "decadent" and "degenerate" descent. Soviets (not Russians) were not that big of a problem at the time, and were, in fact, one of the key factors in keeping Germany from completely devastating Europe. On that note, Nazi propaganda against degenerate art (Entartete Kunst) also gives an insight in clear and to-the-point ways of conveying one horrible and frightening message. Cheers!

What distorted history are you teaching? Indian Vedas are the oldest written texts in the world and at present the scientists confirm its date back to 2500 BC. The Vedas are composed using Sanskrit, a system of language that is almost perfect for any communication. The Chinese came to India in search of these knowledge systems. Alexander also travelled all the way to the borders of India attracted by what Magasthenes (Greek Historian) wrote in the "Indica".
@juurstudio11 ай бұрын
Vedas were mostly only recited and passed on orally for a very long time. Serious scientists are right now claiming that they were actually written down "only" during a period of 1500-500 BCE. This still does not explain why, for instance, the respectable The Meggs' History of Graphic Design (2016) glosses over Vedic Sanskrit as if it played no part in the formation of world alphabets. He only ever mentions it in the following paragraph: "The Aramaic alphabet is believed to be the predecessor of scripts used in India, apparently arriving around the seventh century BCE. Extensive elaboration was necessary to develop alphabets suitable for Indian spoken languages. The Indian subcontinent has a complex array of spoken and written language forms, and the specific origins of early writing in India and its neighboring nations are quite controversial." The grave error there is, of course, that Aramaic alphabet had nothing to do with Vedic Sanskrit which was written in Brahmi script, which played much more influential role for the development of all the other Indian scripts and alphabets.
@mrhellaboy11 ай бұрын
@@juurstudio Yes, I agree with you that the Vedic Hymns were passed through generations via recital. That doesn't mean ancient 'Bharat' (present Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Burma, and India) had no written languages. Bharat invented a refined language from existing languages and that is termed "Sanskrit" Just means "refined/Purified". The Sanskrit was meant to serve the purpose of communicating the Vedas to the far reaches of Bharat without distortion. Recital was considered to be the best form of no-noise communication. If you want to know how successful this system is then just travel through present India and try to talk to people from different states of India who speak different languages. You will be surprised that although they speak completely different languages The Vedas shall be exactly the same without any distortion in not only pronunciation but also written scripts too. I have not seen or heard of any other language system that has achieved such distinction. The world needs to wake up to the truth that Bharat was a very advanced civilization and is still far ahead of other civilizations in context to "spirituality" And seeking truth.
