I LOVE the new Sequoia tbh.. You are probably right that the Land Cruiser is built better and if you keep it.. the 2021 Land Cruiser will still work in 20yrs with basic maintenance The 2024 Sequoia probably not without heavy maintenance & replaced parts. Driving quality I'd really have to see myself. I've not driven a land cruiser

As someone who has driven mutliple LandCruisers and currently owns one, I will have to agree with Doug, don't get me wrong. The LandCruiser is amazing, but after test driving the new Seqoia, there are multiple things that things that the Seqoia just does better, number 1 it is a safer vehicle, just due it being newer, it has much more advanced safety features, and tech that you can actually use. Now if you're keeping your car for 10+ years, then the Land Cruiser will obviously do that cos it has proven reliability, I just can't understand people paying brand new car price for what is fundamentally a 10+ year old vehicle. For most consumers the Seqoia is just a better vehicle, again this is just my opinion and I do have a LandCruiser, but I felt that the Seqoiua was just as well built as my LandCruiser, and as much as I wanted to hate on the V6, I can't deny, it is an amazing powertrain, effortless torque from very low RPM's, its definitely easier to drive on a day-to-day basis compared to the V8. I know I am definitely in the minority here, don't get me wrong the Landcruiser is amazing, but it also comes with its flaws. People can spend their money how they want to, and if the Seqoiua fits Doug's life more then that's it. I love my V8 Landcruiser and I probably will never sell it, but I can also admit that the Seqoiua is a better vehicle for most people.

i've checked forums and the PDFs from toyota on the 2024 sequoia and they list all trim levels as having a multi-link rear. Maybe i'm not looking in the right spot...

Do not. It’s the same solid axle as the Tundra pickup, and very clunky, jittery and unrefined on road.

"multi-link" = Solid axle, spring ( or air bag), shock, sway bar and trailing arm. Damping rates depend on trim and off-road package.

1291? The official is like 1700+? Wow. I intensely dislike how manufacturers over-report their payload capacities to websites and the like. I was going to get one because I wanted the higher payload, but now I am hesitating... Car/truck/van buying is so frustrating right now. Edit: Thumbs up from me for reporting that. Edit2: And yeah, I agree that a 2021 Land Cruiser is going to be a supremely reliable vehicle and as my father has a 2018 I an attest to the robust functionality.

Sequoia looks better imo, toyota has been doing both hybrids (prius history) and turbos(2jz) well for a long time so its reasonable to expect this powertrain to be reliable and meet the toyota reliability expectation they have set for themselves. Space is legit better in land cuiser but both are large and probably sufficient for most people. I think its a toss up between the two and comes down to just personal preference.

These are truly embarrassingly unrefined and unfinished, with horrible packaging. It’s just such a misstep when Toyota could have done a Tahoe/Expedition/Wagoneer killer, and they just didn’t. Great review.

@@jakes5530no reviews I’ve seen has said the ecoboost is more reliable then the iforce max. The sequoia isn’t as nice but I guarantee it’ll outlive the expedition. But neither one can hold a candle to the previous gen 5.7 v8.

He got it because he was blindly enamored by this😂 The sequoia according to real human eyes is a complete mess😂. From its useless 3rd row, unusable cargo space, subpar build quality, materials and fit / finish that make Tesla or GM look better, dated tech, inefficient hybrid from a company who is supposed to be the master of hybrids, crappy handling and ride due to the live axle and lastly its way overpriced 😂

I cant tell if you are being serious or not but the Sequoia has substantially better looks, is far less "recognizable", and the technology both inside and out is substantially superior. I think they cater to different audiences - to say you wouldn't have made that decision is understandable but I certainly dont think it was a questionable decision on his part either.

Had a 23 TRD Pro and it was a cheap rattling mess. Not worth $82K. That’s Lexus money. I test drove the Grand Highlander and Lexus TX back to back recently and have the same opinion about those two. GH is not worth $62-64K.

He's becoming more of a Marques Brownlee type of clone. Hes reviewed too many high end cars, luxury exotic cars and EVs, and he tends to trash on most companies that arent European brands like Audi, Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche, and I find it rather annoying. And He just only cares about technology and features more than quality, reliability and powertrains. He probably just brought that 10 year old 100k mile 200 series Land Cruiser only for content and views before he sold it after having sort of "reliability" problems that don't seem too major or anything, but ohh well..
