Everyone now wants to review new cars, it's nice to see some older cars being reviewed for a change. Good for the shopping used car buyer. This one actually looks really nice!

Nice review! I have a ‘14 AWD R/T. I live in the northeast, so it’s fun to drive a V8 and practical for the winter. Actually, I’ve seen it’s value go up a little bit, I think because they’re very rare, nowadays. Would definitely get a new R/T if it had AWD, and it’d make the R/T stand out from the rest of the lineup.

The reason that they don’t offer AWD with the V8 is difficulty packaging with the 8speed ZF transmission. There isn’t enough room to use the system similar to the V8 Dodge Durango AWD... FCA says that it would be to expensive to develop a new system when the take rate would be around 10%..

Every sedan needs to have AWD

If they bring back AWD with a V8 will be the world best selling car for sure.

Nice review. I have a 2011 Charger R/T AWD with about 250 000 miles on it now...hands down one of the best cars I have ever owned. I absolutely love the car and will keep it for as long as I can, I live in Canada where we have a fair amount of snow throughout the year and the car is just great year round! If I want a newer one I will have to find a police version, they still use the 5-speed unfortunately and are not optioned like my current one.

I think the AWD with V-8 is available to the police. I've seen the Michigan State Police vehicle tests and they tested the AWD Charger with V-8.

From your honest opinion, I’m 26, coming from a 4cyl honda coupe to a 06 mustang v6 210hp, 240 torque, would you say its best to buy a 5.7 challenger or just go straight to 392? I do want some HP but not really a racer, I feel the 5.7 is Perfect for me cost, comfortably wise, but I am a little intimidated by the 392 power lol, think I can handle it? More so considering he 392 for the one and done, whichever challenger I plan to get I plan on keeping forever. As long as it feels really punchy, sounds good and has an impress feeling day to day as far as throttle response and not a lazy feeling

Dunno why nobody answered your question for so long but, I drove the Charger SXT-Plus for 7 years and while it was a great car with lots of pep, I always longed for the V8. If you can afford it, go for the 6.4L. Otherwise, you'll drive the 5.7L for a year and always be thinking maybe you should've gotten the 6.4L. I have a friend with a '16 Challenger RT, so it's the 5.7L, all stock and it's a beautiful machine with gobs of power and it sounds great. Sure, it's not the most powerful car available but 370HP is still plenty of go power for the average daily driver. Trust me, it's lots. That said, last year I traded my '12 Charger V6 for a new '19 Challenger RT Scat Pack 392 widebody. It has the 6.4L hemi with 485HP (these are under-rated in my opinion, most can put out peak 505HP). I went for this level because, due to my age, it will likely be my last new car and I wanted to get the widebody and that option wasn't available for 5.7L RT. After 18 months of driving the 6.4L, I have to say that it's way more power than I need or can ever use without getting into trouble but I still love it and I'm happy to have it. It has the ability to run in ECO mode that automatically switches to 4-cyl mode and it saves fuel. It can instantly resume 8-cyl mode when you stomp on it. The car can be a beast and go like hell when you want it to but it can also be a tame kitty for daily commutes. It's a great cruiser and very roomy and comfortable. For such a heavy car, it's surprisingly agile and good on gas. Considering the cars you're coming from, it'll definitely be a big adjustment for you. It'll seem absolutely enormous and you'll have to drive carefully until you get used to it. Be gentle on the gas and the brakes and you'll have no problems. It might take some getting used to spending more on fuel than you're used to but it's worth it considering the boost in performance and the roomy cabin.

The only way to get the R/T performance AWD in a new dodge is to get the GT and add a RIPP bolt on supercharger.
@palletocynic3674 жыл бұрын
Dodge RT remain cool design despite it has been retired and it make no difference for all Dodge cars . They all looks cool. For this price is not bad but It will be in very lower cost after few years as we already knows the future will be on electric cars.

No, yes, a gas guslar due to more weight, and need more hp to move all the mechanics. Would be slower at top speed and no I don't go buy a 4x4 truck thinking its going to be faster than the 2x4.

I can't argue that. The pre-2011 models were really plain. I couldn't stand the sight of them. With the 2011 refresh, they improved a lot. I bought a new '12 Charger and drove it for 7 years. I always thought the front end and the steering wheel belonged on a jeep or pickup or minivan. Eventually, I just couldn't stand looking at the steering wheel anymore and the grill was bugging me more and more. It was a practical reliable comfortable car but I did have those pet peeves. I traded it for a new '19 RT Scat Pack 392 Challenger widebody. Way more fun and way better looking. The Challenger is not as practical as the Charger, especially if you need a family taxi, but my kids are grown so now dad can have what he wants.
