Hey Ben! Thanks for this video, super helpful. One question - if a business is brand new (as in they only have a few sales / conversions) would you still optimize for conversions? Or in that case, would doing a campaign optimized for traffic make more sense? I read your article about choosing the right objective which seems to suggest aiming more for traffic in the (very very) beginning. Thanks!
@BenHeath5 жыл бұрын
@@nickwetta4624 that depends how many conversions you think you will generate per week? Any more than 10 and I would use conversions - otherwise you can start with traffic.

A few videos in, i decided to stop watching, went out to a Dollar store, bought a note book just to take down notes from this guy. ive watch a ton of people, all of them claiming they gonna teach me this and that, that im gonna get more customers, but complete BS, i broke down their videos and they spend more time beating around the bush and persuading people to join their class than talking about the topic they want to discuss. yours start when the video starts. keep it up man. you're an MVP.

I'm curious about the cases when you WOULDN'T use a conversion campaign. They're expensive, right? Others run traffic or reach just to build the lookalike audience. I wonder about the video campaign to get engagement by potential customers.
@BenHeath5 жыл бұрын
Great question - conversion campaigns often cost more per CPM (per thousand impressions) but they usually cost less per conversion - so if conversions is what you really want - they are less expensive. I won't use a conversion campaign if I'm not able to or don't want to optimise for a conversions event. For example, if I'm advertising an article or just delivering value with a video. But if I want someone to buy or become a lead - I'm using conversions.
@onesun30235 жыл бұрын
@@BenHeath I see. I'm doing ads for a friend's business where the average customer spends $500 to $2000 and it's not in a major metro area so it's hard to get even 50 website visits a week let alone 50 leads or purchases. I'm not sure how much to convince him to spend on a conversion campaign. Neither of us are ad experts and don't want to throw $1000 down the drain. I've tried to get him to submit his last 1000 customers to facebook for lookalikes but some customers are HIPAA protected so I'm trying to gather what I can from fb page and ad engagement. Sorry to ramble. Do you have any insight into this situation? I want to do well since this is client number one. Also, do the ad costs get cheaper after December?

Ben, Do you suggest that for a local business like a daycare, the lookalike audience should still be 1% of the United States, instead of choosing the local towns near me? I've been choosing 5 local towns near me and the audience size is always small, sometimes smaller than 10K. I do get even smaller audience sizes when I try to select additional targeting. Thank you for this video. I have found this video useful. It made me think about why my targeting might not be working.
@BenHeath5 жыл бұрын
In your case it would be better to use a 10% lookalike and then narrow by location in your ad set. You'll want the largest lookalike possible because you will be excluding a huge amount of these with your location targeting criteria. If the population near you is very small then you may need to go with open targeting. A 10k audience is too small.

Do you have any advice/key elements on how I can structure/mix up my ad campaigns to keep the effective and generate results every month?
