The goal was to show the ability of the rifle, not the skill of the hunters. In that regard, the video perfectly demonstrates what the Rogue is capable of.

Now velocities with reservoir airguns used to drop off gradually with the loss of pressure, with a resultant projectile drop. If I understand correctly. If I am getting the picture right, the latest generation of hi-tech computerized reservoir rifles are designed to release air precisely to maintain shot-to-shot velocity as the tank depletes.
@CrosmanCorp13 жыл бұрын
@sqitso With the capability of shooting a 170gr bullet at 850fps, the Rogue is definitely not a toy. You don't need a background check to get it. It's quiet enough to fire in the backyard. The range is shorter than that of a centerfire so you won't endanger the neighbors.

It worked great on the big jackrabbits down in Texas. It's to heavy for a walk in the woods but if you one shows up on a still hunt it will work just fine.

@SFISHER1 So fishing in a 2-acre pond versus the Atlantic Ocean is not fishing?
@CrosmanCorp11 жыл бұрын
It is now available exclusively on crosmanDOTcom.
@CrosmanCorp13 жыл бұрын
@SFISHER1 Agreed this is not a fair chase hunt, that's why there's a big honkin' "CONTROLLED HUNT" at the opening. In a 2-acre pond you may not see the fish, but they can't go far. It's still hunting/fishing because there is some level of skill involved, even if "you have no idea where they are" you have a pretty good idea if you're catching 1%.

This high fenced environment looks the size of my back yard. I guess it's better than nothing. Also, I think I know those pigs knew what that "mehh" sound led to. That's why they wouldn't stop.
@CrosmanCorp13 жыл бұрын
@seriouslyhuman It's hunting. It doesn't fall under fair chase rules but it's still hunting.
@CrosmanCorp13 жыл бұрын
@northfly Some folks like the idea of an airgun because of its lower range (great for close quarters like urban hunting), low noise (Rogue & Marauder rifles are fully shrouded) and the ammunition is relatively inexpensive. A .22 would not have been effective on this hog.
@Shaw5258711 жыл бұрын
It's pretty disappointing that Crosman condones, even promotes, high-fence hunting. I would have been more impressed if they were able to let the pigs get away a bit more and then hit one. In fact, the only reason that I can think of for not allowing that is simply that the rifle isn't powerful enough to do the job at greater distances. Would have been nice to see that issue laid to rest. Now I'm not sure if the rifle is too weak at longer distances or if the marketing dept. just goofed up...

Very nice! Thanks for the video. The two shots seemed very quiet compared to some of the previous videos -- is this a matter of microphone placement? or recent improvements?

The Rogue is not the gun for a walk in the woods - it's for still hunting. It's a different challenge for hunters and it's quiet report makes multiple targets possible.

What Does it Take to Kill a Deer? will this .357 kill a deer 50 yards or less.What is the largest grain lead that will fit in auto loader. Can you load larger grain if loaded with out clip. can this gun be used as a single shot.

To the debate on "Why an air gun?", you might keep in mind there are lots of places in the US with varmints where you cannot use a firearm in city limits. This addresses that issue very, very well. I have a large piece of land inside city limits with coyote, raccoons and gophers. They are a real problem. Using even a .22 is out of the question and will earn me at the very least a hefty fine. Killing varmint with this rifle works very nicely and I definitely got my $1200 worth!

@CrosmanCorp That is a better way to state it. I said it's shooting, but you pointing out it doesn't fall under fair chase makes me have to recant the "shooting" statement. My statement would have been accurate if the hog had been tied out or restricted from movement.Your point was well made.
@CrosmanCorp13 жыл бұрын
@seaox81 This video should be considered the most accurate replication of the report. Other videos had poor mic placement or the gun was being shot next to a bunch of AR rifles.

I believe they make up to a 175 grain projectile and yes it can be single shot without the mag. I wouldn't even try taking deer with it just based on how's difficult it would be to get a deer in that close and standing still. I'm sure it could be done but I don't recommend it!

Ugh, my only complaint is the cost. I understand it is a quality weapon but still I just can not see the $1,000+ cost in any air rifle including the Evanix Giant. As for the Mosin Nagant lover, very few firearms firing the same caliber will beat the accuracy and definitely noise generation of air rifles.

yeah I agree with SFISHER1. That's shooting not hunting. I don't take issue with testing how humanely it does or does not kill. Conservation departments have to do that as well before determining if a caliber is suitable for a select game size. Take no issue with skinning and cooking dead pig, but that's not hunting.

Compare it to a very cheap and well built rifle, I'll use the Mosin Nagant in this instance. A Mosin will cost you around $120 these days,and costs $.17 per shot. A 150 grain bullet will hit around 2800 FPS, carrying about 2600 ft/lbs of energy. This thing will top out at 1050 fps with around 200 ft/lbs energy. Pitiful. This is $1300 without the tank. Pellets are $.20+ a shot and that's not counting the air. That's not talking about reliability and accuracy. Air guns belong in the back yard.

I've been using airguns since age 5 over 44 years & even though they're apples & oranges still nothing justifies these retailers pricing an airgun $1000 to $3000 when a Weatherby Magnum 7mm costs less. There's just no reason for it but greed. In most states it's illegal to hunt with airguns & so called 'Controlled hunts" no real hunter hunts like that.
