I did when I still shot events. They're great during receptions. I prefer the tungsten-colored ones for the warmer cozier look. They look more flattering IMO too. And if you got at least 2 of 'em at opposite sides, you can get real nice backlight/flares. These are awesome and tiny and the ability to use batteries are awesome! I think the bright spot could help to concentrate more light on the subjects while still wide enough at a distance.

You mentioned taking the Apurture LS 60x and Amaran 60x to a wedding and using both of them together. I’m currently contemplating on which of these two to buy actually for wedding filmmaking. Can you explain on how you used them exactly and power levels you used them at considering that I believe one is way more powerful than the other but also double the price ($419 for LS 60x vs $200 for Amaran 60x). Did you have them both at 100%? I don’t know if the Amaran 60x will suffice vs the LS 60x for the exact same use case scenario of wedding dances/speeches such as you mentioned. Or will I be better off buying two Amaran 60x? Also what modifiers did you use as I’ve seen people use fresnel modifiers to fine tune the light onto the dance floor/speech area and not blinding everyone else. I think the LS 60x has a built in fresnel lens so would I just be better off buying that instead of an Amaran and having light spill broadly? I know I could probably purchase a fresnel lens modifier to attach but then the price difference becomes negligible and especially the portability. Sorry for all these questions but since you mentioned these lights for exactly the same reason I’m looking into getting one I think any information you provide will be greatly helpful and appreciated!!! Keep up the great content!

Great informative video Benj! I’m a wedding videographer and looking into getting the 60d because of it’s portability and fairly priced. I’m just wondering if this can be a key light for wedding receptions, dance, and speeches. If it can, in your opinion how far can it be placed away from the subject to be used as a key light? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the video, Benj! Super helpful! On those examples from the Palm Springs wedding, were you using the stock reflector attachment? I’m wondering if barn doors or a spotlight are needed or if I could just rock the stock attachment. I’m a wedding videographer, so looking to achieve a similar look to what you had there. Thanks again for all your hard work on the channel, always so helpful and insightful!
@benjhaisch3 жыл бұрын
You can use the stock reflector for sure, but you’d need a set of barn doors that would fit that reflector, OR use another reflector like the ones that come with the 100 & 200 series. That also being said, for weddings it’s fine IMO but they technically don’t recommend them with bicolor lights as the COB mapping of the colors can show up in shadows.
@jeremybay71702 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. When you use this light at a wedding for speeches/dances do you have the reflector on it? I'm wondering since it creates that hot spot in the middle.
@kipling19572 жыл бұрын
Thanks and really useful! At the wedding when you set them up as static lights did you use the mini reflector that they come with them or some other kind of modifier? I’m wondering of that hot spot is an issue in practice in these types of events.

Hi Benj thank you for Cascade obviously. Would you make a video sometime where you reach how to use these lights at a wedding. I use strobes and I would love to try something like this as well. @benjhaisch3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the panel lights in general are just very different from a COB light like this. I’d most likely use the COB light for a key and maybe a panel for an accent as there are just many more modifier options for the 60D/X than the P versions. That being said, I have a P60C on preorder because I do want to use one still too :)

@benjhaisch Жыл бұрын
Nice! Yeah, I’m actually on Maui right now. The LS60 is a better wedding light for sure. But this works in a pinch. The hot spotting diminishes the further you are away from the subject, but you can use other modifiers as well

Great video. I don't know if you'll respond but for mini documentary type content, between the 100D and 60D, which would you recommend? I'm trying to have something versatile but packs a punch and is small enough to be portable. I know the 60D has the added advantage of the Battery power.
@benjhaisch2 жыл бұрын
For doc stuff I’d probably use the Aputure 60X if it’s super run and gun. But the Amaran 60X Is also going to be a great budget option. The battery power is a crucial feature too. All depends on your output needs though. Hard to tell without knowing the scope

@@benjhaisch I hear you and i appreciate your response. Right now I just need a big light. I know I'll probably dabble in commercials and spec ads but I just need to get something for general use until I figure out what I'm niching down to.
