I went to Sav-on after watching this and Anthony hooked me up with a Makaira and a Phenix Axis. He was so knowledgeable and super friendly, he even entertained my 3 year old so I could compare reels 😂😂😂

Just a suggestion and maybe something to go along with this “tutorial “ type series. As someone that is not familiar with the area but wants to bring their boat down to Long Beach or San Diego I’m kind of lost. There seems to be so many launches in So Cal it can be confusing. Then where do we get live bait and ice for the day. Besides just going down there and ending up wasting most of a morning figuring it out it would be nice to see some tips on best boat launches and then where to get your supplies. San Diego is a 5 hour trip and it would be nice to have a plan before heading down there. Best way to get setup for a day of BFT fishing.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment and letting me know what would be helpful for you. This is actually a great suggestion and I can see how it would be helpful for people. I'll certainly keep this in mind, but I'm not planning on making an episode like that this season, but we'll see. So much to cover, so little time!

Awesome video but I didn’t hear what size assist hooks to use on those jigs, can you please tell me the size assist hooks I need to buy for the jigs. Thanks
@christophersmith54854 ай бұрын
What is the strategy behind soldering your hooks to the jig rather than tying to the solid ring and then connecting it to the jig via a split ring? That way you can swap jigs out with split ring pliers easily

Thanks for the info... Awesome... 👍

How do you know the depth of your jigs while you're releasing them? Make the line when spooling the reel? Multicolor line?
@BenjieKimFishing Жыл бұрын
hey there! thanks for the recent comments, really appreciate it. And yes, you're correct - either marking the line or the multi color spectra.

@scottlandb65792 жыл бұрын
I know this is a stupid question so I just set up a penn fathom 40n w/ 80 lbs braid and will be running just a mono or likely fluoro leader. Question how do you know what depth you’re at? I want to say back in the day Wed mark our line w/ colored markers for every hundred but is there a counting technique? Like count 10 1thousand and your at 100 ft? Anyway I’m going on a overnight and next year gonna try to get out a ton. Been gone for 18 years and recently moved back. Thank you for these videos. 👍🏼
@BenjieKimFishing2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, my apologies on the slow response to this question. Marking line is still a thing, there are line counting devices you can use or you can manually do it. But accurately knowing your depth is tricky and I think comes with experience and time on the water. I've been told it takes about 30 seconds but there are also other factors that go into this like how much you're scoping out from the current. For me personally, that's the greatest challenge I'm still working on is getting that jig straight up and down as much as possible.

The only thing you missed was make sure the gap in your hook is big enough for the gig to to through it if not, it can hand up on the gig.

How do you know if you're on that "300 ft" zone?
@jakewyngaarden98915 ай бұрын
Marked line either get a line counter and mark ever 100ft with sharpie or buy pre marked line.
