I'm going to have to watch this 100 times over, but first pass... The mirror man, and having the horse mask from the shard from his forehead 😲 The doors pulling backwards, then rubber banding back up and into the upstairs window 🤯 Traffic light, that's some crazy good masking and particle work. Keep it up man, you're putting out some amazing work, and the calibre of your editing skills and effort you put into after effects really shows! a lot of travel videos tend to be all in-camera effects, whip pans, and basic masking, but your extra time spent on the PC just separates your videos from others massively and brings a breath of fresh air. Really enjoying your content, and love seeing a fellow Aussie kill it!

Your transitions are insane🔥🔥🔥
@alexjcorona26056 жыл бұрын
I know a lot of work goes into those transitions, but tbh I think it starts to become flash over substance, and it's very cheesey in places. Good cinematography doesn't need a bucket load of these crazy transitions to be engaging and dynamic. In all honesty I don't really have time to focus on anything or build a sense of story when they are happening. I'm not a purist by any means, but the parts I enjoy most are where it calms down on the transitions and you get to see some really beautifully selected shots. The dude is crazy talented, and personally I think it's just overkill to try and stand out. Tbf, I guess it's the same way I also have somewhat of an aversion to heavily photoshopped images as well. They are pretty to look at and are an artform in themselves, but I want to know that what I am looking at is a representation of what was seen in that spectacular moment, not a heavily altered version of it for the sake of pretense. Travel videos for me, are a representation of the real life moments we can experience, so I kind of want it to reflect that when I watch it.
@Benn_TK6 жыл бұрын
I guess it's all personal preference, some people love to be captivated and stimulated in a dream like way while watching videos and others want to be captivated in a realistic way. I've always been a dreamer, so I guess that's what I do. (:
@alexjcorona26056 жыл бұрын
@@Benn_TK Totally get that dude, was one thing I failed to mention, that it becomes like that sort of dream sequence, which, as you said has it's own appeal! Seriously though, those shots are madness and regardless of my personal taste, I think you are insanely talented, and the imagination and craft that goes into a video like this is nothing short of spectacular. Keep creating brother.

@sunlightdavid6 жыл бұрын
I concur. I can appreciate how time-intensive each single VFX is and how incredibly challenging it would be to string sequences one after the other in a manner that flows and forms a plot. I feel that this is a distinct style that doesn't try to mimic the 'film and cinematic' flavour that is seen more often with deeper storytelling. However, I'd say that 12 countries in 4 minutes is insane. Can we also take a moment to think about doing that in 24 days lol. I did a Europe trip recently for 9 countries in 45 days and I felt pretty exhausted by my 4th week. I wasn't even focused on video on that trip lol. With the pace of his trip considered, I'd say it is very hard to find strong scenes that are happening on its own (vs directing strangers to give you footage which you can do more easily with developing countries' kids e.g. Thailand and Cambodia). With very limited footage, I think this video must have been pretty challenging. Personally, I'm more of a fan of *good* 'Watchtower of Turkey' style videos. I tried my hand at it for an India video and it took me MONTHS. (I'll link it below.) I didn't follow closely on how long Benn took to edit this (pray tell!) but I would say loads of man hours went into it! That level of dedication is already commendable. However, no matter what style one practices, I'd say execution and finesse in that style is actually what sets one apart from the pack. That said, my favourite parts were 02:21 and 03:10. :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHzdoIRnZ9ymkNk
