Thank you, Florian. Most KZbin reviews are just a summary of the specifications but yours had much valuable content. I was especially interested in your replies to some of the other comments where you mentioned that you had a 2760HS and that this 2870H compares well with it. I also have (and love) the 2760HS so this was very important to me. Great review!!

Thank you for the amazing feedback! I also love my 2 GW2760HS displays that I currently use as my main display and the GC2870H could really keep up well with it. I'm due for a replacement, but it will be a 21:9 3440x1440. Stay tuned! 😊

You have a detailed, technical review of this monitor. Rather than than just focusing on technical specifications, I wanted to learn practical information about the monitor such as what is it like to live with day-to-day, such as re its size and features. Like another reviewer (Marcin Wu), I too am interested in how it compares with the GW 2760H series monitor.
@florianuhlemann6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the great feedback! This monitor compares really good with the GW2760HS, as I've owned both now. The GW2760HS has a smaller bezel, but the GC2870H is able to provide slightly more canvas size and better color performance, while keeping the same low input latency/lag and accurate color representation, especially after calibration. Keep in mind, mine was a little heavy on the reds before calibrating (on user mode with 100/100/100 R/G/B).

Hi nice and simplistic. Though I’m still torn if 1080p is okay 👌 compared with 2K /4K on a 28” size?
@florianuhlemann6 жыл бұрын
I love using 1080p on a 27/28” monitor as it is a very relaxing pixel size. It is less of a strain on your eyes and let’s you sit a little further away compared to 20-24” displays. Personal preference of course! Next choice up would be 2560x1440, but preferably at larger diagonals. Like 32” or so.
@onzkicg6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I just got my 32”qhd, nice size but maybe ideally arms away, my table is small about 40cm so I have to tilt eyes up just to type in address bar lol 😂 And another thing- surprisingly my GTX580 flickers on/off intermittently so I ended up just using on board graphics. Maybe I should buy new graphics card as well.. darn these upgrades lol 😂 like fashion.. once u buy new clothes.. other stuff follows haha

An amazing and professional review! Thank you very much. I was wondering about buying this monitor and now I can see I can do it with no worries. I have one question, though. How does this monitor look when compered with BenQ GW2760HS? They are both very similar in specifications and price. GW2760HS seems to be much older, though, but theoretically provides 4ms reaction time. What might be your opinion about it? Which one should I buy? Thank you in advance for your answer.
@florianuhlemann6 жыл бұрын
Hello Marcin, thank you for your comment. Great to hear that you liked the video. I actually own both monitors (2x GW2760HS and 1x GC2870H) I would say the new generation ups the quality slightly, increases the area but at the cost of a slightly wider bezel. (Does make a difference if you use a multi-monitor setup). As the price is the same for both, I would certainly recommend the new one as it delivered impressive results in color and input lag.
@skowron_19786 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your answer. Eventually, I've decided to buy GW2760HS. It's a new revision from April 2018 and I'm quite satisfied withe the choice. I really needed to have DVI port and GW2760HS has it, whereas GC2870H doesn't. Anyway, I'm sure both monitors provide great quality for the price.
@florianuhlemann6 жыл бұрын
Good choice@@skowron_1978 , nonetheless. Keep in mind you can always use a DVI-to-HDMI cable, they work great. I'm currently using one on my GW2760HS as well due to GPU output options (and I'm running dual-screens).

Thank you for the review. If you don´t mind, can you tell me what is the best (more realistic in terms of colour) modes between Standard or Game mode? I use the monitor mainly for gaming, but in Standard it feels more close to my laptop and iPhone (except for the whites). Once again, thank you!
@florianuhlemann6 жыл бұрын
To me as a purist, I only prefer a "correct" setting. If you'd like, you could copy the settings I have my monitor and and use the color profile attached. Basically, I set my displays to 6500K and a brightness between 120cd/m2 and 140cd/m2 depending on the brightness of the room. Meaning, this doesn't depend on the modes you pick from the monitor but the accurate settings for each display. So in order to achieve these, I select the User/Custom modes and then adjust the colors until I have a "pure" white color. Gaming probably increases the dark areas to gain a small advantage, at the cost of a more accurate representation of the gamma curve and contrasts. Hope this helps and thank you for your comment.

I just bought the monitor, i see a lot of inconsistency in full gray color(i kind of see lines that are darker than others by a bit). I tried using the srgb mode but I see noise on dark areas, which doesnt show on other screens. I tried to use an iPhone to compare the screen while costumizing in OSD, but I guess its not possible to color match it. Should I use the profile that you got or my screen different from yours?
@ijustwatch54783 жыл бұрын
I do design work so its kind of a bummer working with gradients :(
@florianuhlemann2 жыл бұрын
The monitor is set by default sometimes to limited rgb range, i.e. not 0-255, bit 16-245 or so. This can cause the gradient issues. Other than that, I have two of these in use an love them! Great image quality. Color profile may match to a certain degree, but it will not replace a full calibration/profiling. Be sure to get your OSD settings correctly. I do not use sRGB mode, but custom color settings with individual colors adjusted so that 6500K grey/white is reached.

From my tests and benchmarks the colors seem to be pretty good and accurate enough for photo and video editing. For high end professional work (medium format, hasselblad, etc.) there may be better alternatives with active color calibration devices integrated into the monitors.

I can't make ambience brightness work on my BenQ GC2870H. I'm using HDMI and when I turn off/on the lights there's no change. Could you test that feature on this monitor?

I have not tested that feature yet, and I don't think this monitor supports that out of the box. It may be possible with an external sensor? Couldn't find anything on the web / documentation on this, but will look into this the next chance I have. (May be a while though.)

When the monitor is displaying a bright image or video, it looks great, but when it has to display a darker image or a level in a video game, strange dark digitized and pixelated areas appear around objects, or on the dark objects. I can't seem to fix this annoying issue, can you please tell me what to do?
@florianuhlemann5 жыл бұрын
Hello Miljan, I'm sorry you experience such problems. Did you make sure your RGB value range is set correctly? i.e. 0-255 instead of 16-235? Otherwise I would make sure you reset your settings, go to color "User Mode" and set HDMI RGB range to 0-255. This should make sure it's good from the hardware side. In your operating system, make sure there is no color profile set that could throw it off, i.e. these user-guided calibration tools
