ABOUT LAW & ORDER SVU
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," now in its 21st season, makes television history as the longest-running primetime live-action series of all time. "Law & Order" chronicles the lives of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate crimes. As acting commander of the SVU, Lt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) leads with empathy and professionalism, all the while dealing with her difficult past, which influences the way she relates to the victims and perpetrators of each case. As Benson's second-in-command, Sgt. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice T) adds a unique sense of humor and undercover investigative experience. Det. Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) has earned her place as an integral part of the team and Det. Dominick "Sonny" Carisi (Peter Scanavino) brings a fresh outlook and distinctive style of investigation to the squad.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is available now on Peacock, the new streaming service from NBCUniversal. Watch thousands of hours of hit movies and shows, plus daily news, sports, and pop culture updates. Stream now on Peacock.

@@findingmel6363 Although her mother was not a good mother to Olivia, Olivia still loved her. She still spoke to her constantly. Maybe you forgot or just didn't pay attention during the beginning. Yes, her mother was a drunk and Olivia was a product of rape. I think she turned out the opposite, instead of hating her mother, she felt bad for her and that carried over to everyone else.

This episode proved Olivia is one of the best Law & Order characters ever! I also felt sorry for the son because while I admit he committed a rape given his upbringing it was really the mother’s fault for turning him into her little puppet! I’m glad she’s getting punished and the son plead guilty to atone for his crime and I hope he lives a good life with his father, stepmother, and half sister.

Okay I haven't watched or scene the episode or the scene either yet but am I the only one who thinks she Olivia got some nerves to be telling somebody else how to raise their child. 😮 When she's basically and clearly almost in the same boat with her son and the mother. When she barley let Noah out of her sight until recently 😢😮 and you want to tell her something how to raise her child like get outta here with that Olivia here and I like her and all😢 but what she just said pissed me off for some reason tbh. I don't know it's like she's turning into another Rollins which I hate and can't stand tbh with all that judgmental abuse character she had going on or was on I guess.😢 Side note: I don't know I guess maybe I'm the only one who feels that way here about how she handled the situation oh well 🙂😃🤷🏽‍♀️ I still feel like she has no right tho to criticize or judge a parent tho. When what she did was clearly almost the same or the complete opposite I guess 🥺👀👁️

I can’t feel bad for Benson about her relationship with her mother because it doesn’t surprise me that her mother can’t love Benson because Benson is a product of rape. A guy forced himself on Benson’s mother and she didn’t want that. Having to look, bathe, feed, clothe, raise, and parent Benson would have to remind herself every single day of the rape. It’s no wonder she was incapable of loving Benson because she has to look back at the rape every minute of everyday of her rape. Benson doesn’t have a great relationship with her mother and it’s not surprising but there are times I have and need to feel sorry for Benson but it’s hard when Benson pisses me off in the episodes that I watch of this show.

@@babyvia6712 I don’t care. I understand why her mother would not want to parent Benson; she would have to relive every minute of everyday of the rape. I cannot blame a parent for neglecting a child of such a situation. The child should been put up for adoption. The child would’ve been cared for and the mother could at least suppress the reminders of her rape. I can’t hate the mother for this. I may dislike Benson but I can’t hate Benson for the relationship with her mother. She felt her mother hated her and rejected her that is bad for Benson but at the same time I understand why the mother did. These poor girls are victims. I am not going to call this abuse just because the mother was violated
@babyvia6712
@babyvia6712 Жыл бұрын
@@francostevo9939 Right, but her mother WAS abusive. She was abusing her child. She definitely was violated, and I would never be able to parent properly if I was a victim of rape and my child was the product. But that doesn’t change that Bensons mother abused her via neglect. It doesn’t. You SHOULD blame her for abusing her child, because she DID abuse her child, no matter what, because THAT is the textbook definition of abuse, and she can’t and shouldn’t be let off of the hook for that. At the same time it’s not fair to expose a victim of rape to the trauma of raising their rapists child, it’s not fair to expose a child to being neglected, either, because it’s never the child’s fault. The child SHOULD have been out of her care, specifically BECAUSE her mother was abusive. I understand it well and I can’t hate her mother either, but it IS abuse and it’s important that you know that Benson was being abused, even if her mother was ALSO traumatized.

Used to love this show, but now it’s moving to Benson as a psychologist instead of focusing on crime and the intricacies of solving them. Boring really.

Ok while I agree the mother screwed her son over raising him the kid was an adult capable of making his own choices and he chose to rape that woman. He could have easily chosen not to but look what happened. I'll say it now bad parenting is not an excuse to commit such a crime

Pwrhaps, but this is why I say that parents should require competency tests before having kids. I think that people only marry/procreate so they can have the opportunity to play god over another human being.
@benolr64
@benolr64 Жыл бұрын
@neonfroot you completely missed my point. The kid was already legally an adult when he committed the crime he's just as much responsible for his actions as his mom, and having a bad home life is not an excuse

SVU should have ended like 5 seasons ago, early SVU is where it's at and Benson doesnt get to lecture other people as parents she let her 10 year old son believe he is bisexual a kid at that age doesnt understand sexuality someone indoctrinated him but it's a show based in New York so I'm not expecting there to be commen sence involved.

Michelle Gomez? How is it that British (or in this case Scottish) actors can have a perfect American accent while American actors cannot do a British accent to save their lives?
@stephaniejane306
@stephaniejane306 Жыл бұрын
Because American accents come from British ones. In particular, since many Irish and Scottish settlers settled in the south in is easier for them to pick up southern accents

Okay maybe am I and probably might be the only one who thinks this and who's opinion is different from everybody else's, but I feel like I'm the only one who thinks Olivia here have some nerves to be telling somebody else how to raise their child.😢😮 I mean I love her and all ❤ but how dare she criticize someone else how to raise their child when she probably did who knows the best that she could during that time considering their clearly almost in the same boat as I've heard Olivia and the other lady. Frankly I thought she would have been in a better position to understand considering she never let Noah out of her sight all these years until recently with some neighbor or family friend kids family or whatever. And she still had the nerve to talk and call somebody else mother a narcissist 😢😮 like how dare you she is in no position to do or say that tbh. It's almost like she's turning into another judgmental Rollins that she's not here which I can't and couldn't stand her character for that.😢😮 Side note: I like her Olivia and all so I hope not because if she does I don't know what would happen I might have to reconsider or take a break 💔 from her or something because I don't like and can't really stand judgemental overbearing, characters like Rollins tbh😢

To be fair, it is the mom's fault. The son is guilty, there's no doubt, but the mom really just destroyed him, the woman is of devoid of any type of love as a glass bottle is vacant.

Fatherless children are at the greatest detriment. More than 80% of the incarcerated males in America were raised by single mothers. So for those who were raised by single mothers and turned out ok, y’all should be clapping right now. But the reality is you don’t represent the majority. If you deny this statement, then visit your local penitentiary, and five more within a 50 mile radius. And you’ll get the same results
