Honestly what is the point of this video? It's a developing technology that is going through real world experimentation essentially. Just like the new tech for solid state batteries is going to be changing a lot of things about EV's. To spend time saying how something is bad, that has a microscopic sample size, and a technology that is developing is seriously asinine. It's like you're trying to knock down a developing tech that, along with battery powered vehicles, is going to move us away from ICE vehicles which is a good thing.

China has not been communist since 1998 when they privatized homes and became a nation of job-hopping entrepreneurs and capitalist investors The ruling party is the Communist Party, but they have not espoused communism since 1978. They are CINO (communist in name only) If you want someone who opposes free trade and favors centralized top down management, follow Trump

Interesting. Both our Y and 3 have 20,000 miles on them and the tires are about half life. Not sure how you’re accomplishing what you’re accomplishing LOL. Also both of those cars are lighter than the BMWs they replaced. Video seems overly dramatic.

"We can't redesign every city in the world"... Don't need to - the degree of car dependency is most acute in North America so the "world" where the car dependency is most horrific is only the same definition of 'world' used in 'world series'... ...and even north america has inflicted the problem on itself in the last 70-80 years, it hasn't been that way forever.

A life without everyone having a car because we had great public transportation would be a dream, but not reality. Let’s keep moving forward and doing what we can to do better! EV’s are just plane fun to drive. I’d never go back to gas.

I constantly see Facebook warriors yelling that “the grid” can’t take it if we all drove EV’s. Leaving California out of it, I’d like to see the facts on that. Too many people grab low hanging fruit like what Landman dangle and they run with it all over social media.

Great video, Ben. It’s crucial we don’t get sidetracked by the EV vs. ICE debate, especially in crisis situations like post-flood scenarios. The real takeaway here should be how these events highlight the vulnerabilities in our centralized power systems. Instead of pointing fingers at EVs for needing electricity, let’s pivot the conversation towards promoting decentralized power grids. Decentralization can dramatically increase our resilience against such disruptions. Imagine if every home, neighborhood, or small community had the capability to generate, store, and share energy independently. This isn’t just about technology; it’s deeply rooted in American values: • Freedom: Freedom from reliance on a single, potentially failing power source. • Independence: Energy independence where we aren’t at the mercy of natural disasters or centralized grid failures. • Security: Enhanced security for our nation’s energy infrastructure, reducing risks of widespread blackouts. Let’s rally behind these values by advocating for policies that encourage solar panels on rooftops, community microgrids, and personal energy storage solutions. By focusing on these aspects, we not only bolster our energy security but also empower individuals and communities, fostering a more resilient and independent America. Thanks for bringing this up, Ben. It’s a conversation we need to push forward, not just for the EV community but for all Americans looking for stability, security, and sustainability in our energy future.

So, one million birds being killed by wind turbines means nothing because cats are killing a lot more? That's a pathetic argument that's used by people like you to try and justify large numbers as being insignificant. One million is still one million regardless of what other number you compare it to.

I saw your title, and thought "Wow, imagine if AdamSomething saw this and had something to say" only to realize you're debunking AdamSomething in this one 😂😂😂 I normally like AdamSomething, but this was a bit of a miss from him. He's pro-train. EVs are not good enough. It's simple. It's definitely a debate among city planning types and environmentalists. I can see both sides. It requires a bit of nuance, and Adam doesn't really deal much in nuance.

Ben, studies have shown the environmental impact of making a vehicle equals the carbon and other pollution spewn into the environment by the vehicle if it were ICE powered. In other words, the energy needed to make every part, turn the lights on in the factories and move the workers to an from these factories is substantial in its own right. The EV, one would hope, will eventually last a lot longer than its ICE powered brethren, meaning that fewer total cars need to be produced because they can last 10 to 15 years longer, thus providing even more health benefits than if cars were solely ICE powered.

Six and a half minutes in and we still haven't gotten to the important stuff. I don't give a crap about youtube or spotify. I want to know about how it drives, etc. That other stuff belongs at the end of the video after the important stuff. And why should I care about the time someone bumped into your car? That could happen with any car and does not belong in a review unless a minor fender bender causes the car to fall apart.

Avg cost to replace ev batteries is 2500 to 20k. Google cost to replace i3 battery is 13k INCLUDING LABOR according to Greencars. If battery is damaged BEFORE EOL then add that too. Swapping batteries has proven to be fast and economical.

"we can save over a trillion dollars in public health benefits" I love EVs. Especially ones that can carry a few hundred people at a time, have steel wheels, and use wires instead of batteries to reduce weight and reduce the cost and emissions of manufacturing. We call them Transportation Assistance and Integration Network System, or "TRAINS" for short.

North American cities WERE designed around mass transit and walk-ability right up until the end of WW2. It took only a decade or two to completely rebuild them around private automobiles so any argument that it will take a hundred years to put them back seems absurd. That said, I'm not convinced there's the political will to do so... so yes we need to replace every gas car with an EV in North America... as well as push to fix our cities and towns by reorienting them around people and not cars.

The question is is Adam Something against Ben Sullins. I know that Adam likes to go bike riding. But does not like to ride his bike in the US because he does not want to get run over. I don't understand the number vehicle emission drops too historic low, when only 7% of cars in the US is EV's. I think that maybe also has something to do with the fact that ICE cars are getting cleaner in the last 10 years and especially Diesel in the last few years.

Thanks Ben on the analysis and for a video that has had that many title changes begs one to wonder about it. I won't give him the time of day to watch and add to his view count. He has a few valid points but the reality of the world is it will take time and he lives on the continent that has had the longest amount of time in developing solutions around transit plus it is highly populated with amazing transport systems many with zero-tailpipe emissions. I'm on my second EV and have loved both even with my shorter range original gen Ioniq(28kWh) I still did road trips just meant abit more planning is all.

There is a payback in dramatic license. Shows like "The China Syndrome, and Chenobyl" nearly killed the nuclear industry. Both were rip-roaring good, but made up from the director's visions of a good movie, but certainly not the truth as it happened. As McLuhan said over half a century ago, "The medium is the message." Meaning that people think TV and movies are reality. They are not, they can, and do, lie to you even when they say the movie is based on a true story. So in "Landman" the director is taking dramatic license, but there is no pushback which misleads an already misled public.

EVs are lower Carbon emission over their lifecycle. That is true. They are also a viable concept now with 300 mile range and 20 minute charging times and that's getting better. However, EVs are not as efficient overall as trains, trams, busses and ebikes/scooters for the last mile. They won't fix congestion and the loss of amenity that personal vehicles cause.

"Considering that the hardware (cameras, radars, etc.) necessary for autonomous driving is more or less clear where it should be installed (Tesla, Xpeng, DeepRoute-Ford, Mobileye-VW), wouldn't it benefit us all to have legislation that mandates the manufacturing of all new cars from today onwards to be structurally equipped to update and add this functionality? The sensors could be placeholders and the car's CPU could be an upgradable motherboard prepared to add this functionality. In 5 years, a rich man may have a €60,000 car with 100% autonomous safety, but if a poor man has a 5-year-old second-hand car that for €2,000 (which could be paid with reduced insurance) cannot be upgraded to autonomous driving, the rich man will have only reduced his risk by 50%. I hope I've explained myself, greetings from Spain."
