Thanks to Squarespace for making this video possible, along with The Watch Movement for providing the cringe mobile ad clip; you can check out his work here: kzbin.info/door/nuViqRaK2ZB045D34CbeqA For anyone wondering about the advert audio - I was forced to try and isolate to vocals from the bgm, in order to avoid potential false copyright strikes on the channel (so, it's a bit muffled). Thanks, Ben

A brand like MVMT/Vincero aren't good value for money, but if someone wants to pay too much for a Chinese watch and are happy with what they got, there's nothing wrong with that... Especially when there are channels like this one, out here, providing the information you need to make a solid purchase. But if a company like this is actively deceptive, or worse, a scam... it's disgusting. Thank you for continuing to expose dodgy companies like this one!

@1betterthanyou1 I personally own 2 Vincero watches, and they’ve never had issues yet (for the 4 months I’ve had them, so keep that in mind). I’m not going 2 say it’s high quality or that it cuts out the middle men, cuz it doesn’t, but I do like the way they look, and it operates good enough for me. The customer service is also good, the delivery dates are reliable, and it seems like the company is open about their product, even saying that the founders themselves moved to China, which is something that most companies don’t have the balls 2 do. It builds trust with the company, and it seems like said trust is being backed up by their more recent investments that u brought up. My only hope is that they rebrand from an “Affordable Luxury Watch” brand to a fashion watch brand, which is much more accurate
@allensu9363
@allensu9363 3 жыл бұрын
Nah if you want a Chinese watch just get one on alibaba. When I was a kid and didn’t have too much money I loved getting cheap Chinese watches. There’s really nothing wrong with the quartz movement, even a $6 Chinese watch can be fairly accurate. The problem is when brands try to sell that $6 for $200 without making any changes.

Exactly. They're appealing to a certain type of very sad person, who thinks that a watch is going to make them popular or cool or whatever. I for one don't buy watches to receive compliments - I'd honestly be happy for people to not speak to me. I buy them because I enjoy them.
@marcelo90z
@marcelo90z 2 жыл бұрын
Weird how people rarely talk about this as one of their shady advertisements points, or so I have seen. If someone comes to me just to compliment my watch, especially a complete stranger, I'd be scared shitless, because for sure it's a robber coming for me. I'd like a watch to look good, but being a robbery magnet would surely detour me away from buying one of those. I think only very insecure people would fall for that one, but considering how Filippo Loreti is still around, it's sad that using a cheap psychological trick like this would still make bucks for someone.

@@mitchaelhollingsworth1698 Squale (like Panerai) is swiss constructed, but the HQ is in Italy (Squale in Milan, Panerai in Florence) :) Locman too is interesting. They are based in Elba island and opened the "Scuola Italiana Orologeria" (Italian school of horology) there, where they produce in-house movements (actually a date/time automatic and a chrono/time/date automatic in their Montecristo line). But they seriously need to giveaway the quartz based watches and reposition themselves when it comes to mechanical ones. About watchmaking, of course now Swiss is more regarded than nearly any other country for movements (even tho they started back then to fake UK/French movements, more or less like China does now with Swiss ones), Italians are more famous for the design and are very strong in more heavy mechanical stuff like aerospace and cars/bikes :) Each his own.

There are lots of brands which copy random designs from Longines, Timex or Seiko, put some nice sunburst on the dial, take a generic SS case and put a 2€ Miyota (or, if you are lucky, a 10€ Ronda) inside, sell it for 200€+ and talk about luxury. Obviously made in China, you overpay 100-300%. BUT at least you actually get a watch which works as a watch for your cash. This here is just a scam. Btw. your editing just reached a higher tier.

Good job at exposing this scammers. Ever since i started paying attention to watches i keep asking myself a question. If these companies selling cheap chinese watches are so successfull marketing this garbage, wouldn't companies producing quality products like Seiko, Orient, Timex, Casio etc. demolish them with the same approach. @@Mint-cb2vc agreed, they're excellent especially when you consider the reasonable heritage, QC, reputation and completely in house from movement to watch they're incredible value but they do miss the mark sometimes even with they're more expensive pieces. Either way if you spend 3-400 on an orient, you know you're getting a lot for ya money but only the newer ones in my opinion, sure there are some nice vintages but most of them look far too dated imo 10 year's or later I'd say.

I have been buying from Chinese manufacturers for 5 years. This is how they work. They make a production line and a design. They then try to take orders for future production runs. They take full payment first to pay for manufacturing overheads like materials, workers and even the factory rent. This means the company only has to invest 30% of production cost and they get there profit before the item has been made.

I'm Italian and I laughed so hard watching this. There aren't so many real Italian brands. Many of them are just microbrand like "Meccaniche Veneziane" or "Vertigo Watches". However I suggest to check them out.

A limited edition of 500 is a good number for wholesale purchase because the buyer gets a big discount from the manufacturer,so with what they pay for marketing it becomes obvious that the product is very cheap and is in no way "luxury."What we have here is a couple of Lithuanian chavs ripping people off................................

My 70 CHF Swatch is of far better quality than those “Italian Luxury Watches”, it hosts an ETA Quartz movement, is Swiss Made and has a real customer service, meaning I can walk in a Swatch shop anywhere in the world and get a broken plastic strap end changed for free even 7 years after having bought my watch. And all of that for a fraction of the price of a Chinese made Filippo Loretti. So they should advert “watches that cost 8 to 16 times more than their real value” instead of “watches that cost 8to 16 time less than other luxury brands”. There is no luxury in Filippo Loretti, in comparison my Swatch IS real luxury. The reason why luxury watches cost more than Filippo Loretti has nothing to do with cutting the middleman, it’s because it’s high quality. On the other hand, Filippo Loretti isn’t even quality

I wouldn't even say they've replaced the traditional middlemen, just re-named them. Retail don't mark up. They sell things for retail price (duh!) - they make money because the manufacturer or distributor sell them at a discount. 20-25% is pretty typical for fashion retail, which is low margin compared to some others that hit 50% or even into the 90% bracket for short shelf-life groceries (the more the manufacturer is dependent on the retailer to actually sell the product, the higher it is). So, in effect, their "ambassadors" are just retailers they've roped in under a different name, more rules and an exclusivity agreement. FL don't want to be in a traditional retail space, where the salesperson will show them other watches at the same price-point in person, where FL's lack of quality will speak for itself. Their shtick only works if you swallow the BS and imagine it's a 4-figure watch for £150. n.b. I find it funny that their 500-run limited edition is exactly the order bracket size for the watch on Alibaba that is clearly is a re-stamped version of ^_^

The luxury watch brand starter kit: 1. Find a cheap Chinese factory where slave workers can pump out your bland design for pennies. 2. Slap an Italian name on your brand so brainless posers will pay thousands for your product. 3. Use words like luxury, hand crafted, artisan and legacy. 4. Rake in millions upon millions. :)

I just don't get why they are doing this. Why not say: "We make quartz watches that look pretty nice, and because they're from China we can keep the price low, and we ensure fast delivery" -- and I mean LOW and FAST! That could've been a legitimate niche in the market. But instead they're pulling a very obvious scam. Perhaps not to the uninitiated, but it's only a matter of time before 'real' watch enthusiasts get their hands on them and tear it down. Seems like they're digging their own grave.
