It's my duck gun that I don't mind if it gets a couple scuffs on it in the duck boat . Otherwise it smacks mallards and anything else like a good shotgun would. And 2 oz turkey load still hurts out of this and anything else. Lol
@dustindavidson45093 жыл бұрын
Bought the "mallard" version for my 11 yr old a year ago and he absolutely loves it. We have put several hundred rounds through it hunting and clay shooting and have not had a single issue yet. We got this one for its adjustability and brand name/value. He's now 12 about 5' and fits him great. He loves it. I did pick up a Briley extended charging handle and bolt release for him at Christmas and they have greatly improved his love for the gun. The bolt release was the only negative I had with it and the Briley fixed that up, plus made it look that much better. I would highly recommend this gun for your entry level semi auto.

Did you have problems with it naming when you first took it out of the box and fired some rounds from it?

It is common to have some issue straight out of the box. With a new gun, give it a good cleaning before shooting. Sometimes after cleaning you can still have a few little issues but that should go away after a few boxes ammo and the gun breaks in a little.

I pulled off the freeway in El Paso Texas and bought one for $679 as an extra. Great investment, as opening dove season there was an ammo shortage, one of my friends forgot his choke, so he would 't have hunted if I didn't have it. I tried it for a minute and missed some really easy shots, but I was looking down the barrel and some pressure with others watching me, otherwise for $670 range in semi-auto I would of had to run a Stoeger and wasn't willing to risk it! Nice review. I've had mine now for two years and have shot 12,000+ rounds through it. I did install the Briley oversize bolt handle and their paddle style bolt release...great adds. But I've had "0" mechanical issues with the Outlander.....I love the gun! Regarding cleaning, I've found that around 550 rds of the 3 dram loads it begins to get "sticky" on ejection. I personally don't find that an issue due to the fact that most low price target rounds tend to be dirty. But the sticky issue comes more from the discharge residue collecting on the mechanical parts inside the receiver rather than the gas piston. I recently bought the Retay Gordion Waterfowl model which is an inertia gun. I never owned an inertia gun and was curious about them. There are some considerable differences in those two guns beside the obvious gas/inertia systems. But after shooting the Gordion over 2000 rds, I really like it. It has a more slender pistol grip and forearm than the Outlander and is 3/4lb lighter. It too is a reasonably priced 12 ga inertia gun and well worth the $750. I'd like to send a pic of the Briley accessories I put on the Outlander but don't see a way to do that here.

I have an a300 and it’s not an outlander it’s whatever model has the wood furniture and I’ve had it since I believe like 2017 or so and I’ve put thousands of rounds through it and can’t be more happy with a purchase. They were fairly new when I got it and even then I paid less than $800 and that was with the wood furniture. Quail opener was a couple weekends ago and we were hunting on a property with an electric clay thrower we were shooting all night. It started having issues ejecting completely after probably 100 rounds of non stop fire playing Annie Oakley for an hour or so and I finished the night out running it single fire and tried to remember the last time I cleaned it or oiled it as it had been hunted with and put away dirty multiple times over a couple years and when I pulled it apart I pulled a chunk of carbon the size of my wedding ring off the piston and made a ping pong ball sized pile of carbon from the bolt on the table. I’ve never been more impressed with something than I was after seeing how dirty it was running up till the end there. Well worth the money. Also I have more expensive “nicer” semis and kind of bought it as a back up if a friend needed one or I wanted to shoot something different then fell in love with it when I was in the new gun stage and only wanted to shoot it. To this day, unless I’m shooting skeet and want my over under, it is the gun I’m most comfortable on and shoot the best. I’m not sure if it’s my favorite as I’ve had a couple longer and put more rounds through but if my life depended on a round of sporting clays it’s what I’d want. Seriously 10 out of 10 and I’m kind of a critical dick so that means a lot. Oh and that quick cut when he’s reassembling it is because it’s a three handed butt fuck getting the bolt and rod together onto the trigger group.
