For some folks who have had or are having FTE problems with this firearm it was designed by Beretta to shoot 124 Grain or higher rounds. Failure to eject problems would most likely be fixed with this firearm with a simple change in ammo.

I have two Nano's. One has over 15,000 rds and runs like a top. The other over 6,000 rounds and runs the same. They fantastic firearms. Build like a tank. Almost over built. Break them down and compare to other guns. Stainless steel chassis, Magazines that look like custom 1911's and mild shooting. They have a strong recoil spring and will not like 115 gr ammo cheap range ammo until broken in. And they do not tolerate fools that limp wrist a firearm. The New Beretta APX A1 is now the third generation and my number one carry. I also own the 365, hellcat and the GX4. But none shoot as well as the APX. Beretta did a terrific job. The Nano was in production for over 10 yrs before the second Gen came along. Still a great shooting and built to last a life time. Shoot it more, and you will find that you love it.

just snagged a clean used one of these for $200...mine came with a 6rd mag & 8rd mag; interesting tidbit...the nano & apx carry are very similar which allows cross capability with mags; in other words...nano mags are not easy to find so grab apx carry mags for the nano

Pretty weird that one would be available, but not the other. Good to know though in case you can only find one or the other.

Thanks for the review. I got one a few years ago and I like mine. Should say I have a number of Barettas and have never been disappointed by them.

Nice straightforward review. I remember reading something bad about these when they first came out and wrote them off, but it seems like the ammo selection is the main thing. Interesting that you were able to use any 115 gr stuff at all, I definitely have to remember the lock the slide back trick. Funny I use that to break in mags (load 'em & leave 'em) but never thought about doing it for the recoil spring. And my first thought about the cup was now they've gone too far, making an ashtray outta this new-fangled polymer stuff!

I always wanted this pistol a long time ago, all the way back in 2011, but never pulled the trigger to buy it. I fulfilled my dream by buying it a month ago from private sale. I also ordered two extra frames for it. Looks and works like brand new with the new frame. I love this gun, sad they discontinued it.

Great video. I’ve had my Nano for 5 yrs or so now. I love the pistol however the one issue is FTE is common in ammo less than 124 grain. I’d say at least 1 bullet per box will likely FTE. Which is not an issue when carrying because most hollows are 124 or higher, but practicing at the range with cheaper ammo (115 typically) can be a bummer.

That's weird. Some people carry 115gr and even 90gr ammo for self defense... so I hope it's not a problem for them. I don't know the reason for carrying 90gr ammo (like FTX, XTP and some JHP), but they make them and people carry them. The Xtreme Defender (and Penetrator/Cavitator) are 90gr too... and they're excellent EDC rounds.
@BuckeyeBallistics
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
@Deuce - I recently tested the Extreme Defenders and they come in a 68gr version as well. They cycle fine in most guns- for some reason the Nano is a picky gun.

@@deucedeuce1572 I can only speak from experience… But I would not feel confident with anything other than 124 grain (or higher) for self defense rounds in this pistol.

@@BuckeyeBallistics That's cool. Never heard of those before. Will have to check them out. Just looked it up to verify and found that they also have 65gr 9x19 (and probably also for .380ACP). I was actually surprised when I saw that they were copper and 90gr, because I would have thought a bullet the same size as a 115gr would be much lighter if made of solid copper and that they wouldn't want to make them larger, because they would extend into the case too deep and increase pressure. Guess I got some catching up to do.
@BuckeyeBallistics
@BuckeyeBallistics Жыл бұрын
@Deuce - With a lighter bullet, they need less powder to achieve fast velocities. Also the back of those bullets are hollow to allow for higher powder capacity even with the extended length. But they are not actually that long- you can see this in my gel test videos when I recover them...

Why the love of 115gr? My Nano has thousands of flawless 124gr JHP rounds through it . The only time I've had problems with it is with 115gr. Why love a weak round like that so much that you choose to keep using it when the manufacturer advises against it? It's made to shoot 124gr JHP defense ammo. No need to "break it in" with 147gr. No break in necessary with 124gr JHP, and it's designed to shoot a hot load. Most 147gr is subsonic and designed to be used in submachine guns. But, I mean, you do you.

When did I ever say or even imply that I loved 115gr? I didn't. And bullet weight has nothing to do with being a "weak round." Matter of fact, usually the lighter bullets are more powerful due to the higher velocity. But when you put a heavier bullet in front of the exact same powder charge, you do get more recoil. Also the difference between 115 & 124 is only 9 grains lol.

@@BuckeyeBallistics I don't think I said or implied that you said any of that. I think you take a lot of general comments personally, like this one, that has nothing to do with what you said or did but with the topic you covered. And no, as a reloader I can tell you that lighter bullets are most definitely not the more powerful ones. Yes, 9gr difference can be a lot. In a gun like the Nano it can be the difference between an FTF and a quick follow-up shot lol. The weights of the bullets will have different amounts and types of powder behind them, resulting in different accuracy and power. But I do have to wonder, since you claim now not to be a fan of 115gr, why you would use it in a pistol where the manufacturer tells you not to use it? I think most shooters prefer to use the ammo that is best for their firearm, not ammo that the manufacturer has advised not to use.

Literally your opening statement was "why the love of 115gr?". Also, both Underwood's and Buffalo Bore's most powerful (ft-lbs energy) 9mm loads are with bullets lighter than 124gr, as are many other manufacturers. And leaving a factual reply as I have both times isn't "taking it personal." Lastly, I used 115gr because that's what I had on hand. Not my fault Beretta made a picky gun when literally every other 9mm I have ever shot shoots 115gr (and 90 & 124 & 147 grain) with zero issues...

Thank you for making the video. How many rounds have your shot with this gun by using 115 grain? I have shot about 500 rounds of 115 grain ammo, there was at least 1 out of every 10 rounds fail to eject. I just shot 100 rounds of 124 grain ammo 2 weeks ago, there was no fail to eject yet. I don't like guns which is peaky with ammo like this gun.

nano was designed for 124 gn or higher. There is something out there on the interwebs about Beretta saying this. It is a defense gun, not a plinker. It does not like 115.
