People don't like manual safety but I think it's the most important feature you would want in a pistol especially for law enforcement use. Thank you Beretta for still making guns with manual safeties.

My first carry gun was a PX4 subcompact in .40S&W, but I switched over to 9mm and picked up a full-sized 9mm PX4. Much to my surprise, the full-sized gun actually carries MUCH better than the subcompact version. It's only a couple of ounces heavier, but it actually feels lighter in the holster, because the weight is spread out over a larger area.

As a owner of the H&K's and Kimbers and a Glock 19, I must say that this piece caught me off guard as well. I took my daughter to a gun store today so that she could choose a weapon for conceal carry and home defense. She tried the Ruger LCS compact, Tuarus 709 and G2 Millenium and the M&P Shield and Glock 43 and was unable to rack their slides or release their slides. She hates the revolvers so that was out as well. Then we looked at this Beretta PX4 Storm compact! Wow! She had no issues with racking the slide or releasing it. It was a perfect fit for her! It's a very nice pistol for the money!!

I have this exact model, and it really does handle like a full size gun. Plus the relatively high capacity for a subcompact is good at the range, not reloading every 6 or 8 shots is nice.

I have a full sized .40 S&W PX4. I like it, It feels good in the hand, I shoot it well. It is a wide pistol, a double stack. Even in it's sub-compact version it remains very wide, and that is it's problem as a concealed carry firearm... the LEAST important dimension is length, the most important is width. The subcompact version has a standard tilting barrel operating system, the full sized and compact versions retain the rotating barrel feature...the rotating barrel is where the charm in this pistol lies... it is accurate, reliable and the recoil impulse is straight back and mild. If I wanted to carry this pistol, I would opt for the Compact, not the Sub Compact model.
@LarryRickenbacker6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your informed reply. I've had the Px4 Storm sub-compact as my EDC for over two years now. Your observation about the recoil-reducing rotating barrel is enough to give me cause to "test-drive" a full-size or compact variant of this reliable pistol.

Nothing really to get used to, but I always, I'll usually use a rest to see where any guns print on target after which, I know whether or not they shoot high or low without having to guess thereafter. I too thought it was a hot mess when I was looking at it in the case but when I shot it I was amazed at how it handles recoil and with small hands the small back strap works perfectly. Thanks for the strip down it helped me when I was cleaning it for the first time. Great video! I purchased this gun in 2010 and have been very happy with it. The only negative that I have to say is that it is very picky on ammo. High quality, expensive ammo works just great but the in-expensive ammo is prone to jams. I purchased a 350 round can of Blazer 115 grain ammo from Academy for $99 and have not had a lot of success with it. Last month I put about 50 rounds through it and had 3 stove pipes. Other then that, you are spot on in your review! As always, I enjoy your vids!

Love the double action, trigger is crisp and clean, a tack driver. The only thing I didn't like we're the sights but that was personal preference. For me it's perfect for edc. Fits in my pocket easily, a little on the heavy side but so am I, with a belt on Its unnoticeable. Love having 14 rounds at the ready. Going to get this in .45 too.

Sootch00, if you like the PX4 Storm sub-compact you are going to love the compact! I have one in 40S&W and it is a sheer joy to shoot. The sub-compact is stylish but the compact is a truly elegant weapon. I made mine fully ambidextrous with a paper clip to switch the magazine release button to the other side, polished the barrel throat, dropped a Wilson Combat Competition hammer spring for the 92 in there (it fits just fine) making it 8lbs DA and 3 lbs SA, slapped on some FDE Rubber Talon grips and it is good to go. With 12+1 rounds of Underwood 40Cal, and 14+1 rounds for reloads it is the perfect carry gun.

I understand the Storm better than when it was first released. It's baby brother to the 92's. Instead of military length 5" barrels, we get 4", 3.5" class, and 3" barrels. The longer versions, like the 92, don't tilt the barrels. All 3 versions, and the 92, have identical controls - slide mounted decockers with or without the safety (at least G variants for the two larger ones). This consistency of controls is huge, even if the Apex changed it up completely.

The Px4 Storm subcompact is my choice for lawful concealed carry. The .40 S&W round offers me a ballistic upgrade over my old Colt Detective Special. So far it's been 100% reliable. The slightly chunky size and extra weight make for a surprisingly soft-recoiling pistol.

+ayokay123 Yeah, 36 mm (1.4 ") wide? Not happening.
@flashfire201robloxlegosand87 жыл бұрын
ayokay123 Everybody is all up in arms about the bogus 1.4" thickness. Granted, it sucks that you have to pay extra right off the bat for them but when you switch the safety levers out to the low profile "Stealth" levers the width drops to 1.2". That's only a hair wider than a Glock. It's the size of an LC9 and handles like a Glock 19 and has the smoothest DA/SA trigger in its class. It's a really decent pistol! Especially at the price it's going for now and most of it's detractors have admittedly never even fired a shot out of it, tried to holster it or even picked one up. The ultra-short length allows the grip to carry horizontally, almost flush with your waste band. It doesn't print with the aftermarket contols at a competative 1.2 inches in that position, but it didn't print at the original, comicly overblown 1.4 inches either.

I got one "used". I put used in quotes because if it had more than 200 rounds though it I would be in shock for 345 and the owner put the extension on the other mag. Had my local gunsmith convert the safety to a decocker only using a Beretta part. It rocks as a carry gun. 13+1 to boot. I can't beat it.

Thank you for this review man. I finally got mine today but going on vacation tomorrow for two weeks, I cant wait to take it to the range. The DA/SA trigger sure will be fun. Mine is the 9mmx19.

SOOTCH! I do LOVE this video, and I like your other presentations too. By the way, I mentioned you and "Long live the republic" in my SD40 VE Video! I really like all you do!

You won't think so once you drop that pinky catch on it. I love this gun. It was the first gun I ever bought. I would love to run into the guy that was standing in line that recommended it to me and tell him, "Job well done sir".

I love my PX4 Storm Subcompact. Like you...I did not like the way it looked at first. And to be honest...I am not sure why I bought it. Maybe it was how comfortable it was when I picked it up...I don't know. But I am glad I bought it. Mine is the 40 S&W. And at 25 yards...I hit a coke can that was laid on its side with the bottom facing me with my first shot from this gun. It is perfect for me.
