The Welcome Card is more expensive but comes with discounts on tons of museums and attractions so it could be a good deal if you’re doing several paid things. Also, there is no Welcome Card for 7 days, so you’d either need to buy a 6 day and a 1 day or just buy a normal transport day for however many days aren’t covered by the Welcome Card. Thank you for this. Do I need to scan the ticket on a QR scanner to board or simply show the ticket if asked by a ticket taker on the train?

If you're buying a ticket on the app, it defaults to the current time and will be validated as soon as you complete the purchase. You can also change the time on it if you know you aren't getting on the train until later. If you're buying paper tickets, you need to validate the ticket in the little machine on the platform near the ticket machine. For 24 hour tickets or 7 day tickets, any type that allows you multiple rides, you only validate it on the first ride.

Hello Ali.. the Berlin transport app BVG is very problematic.. i contacted them but it's still asking me to authenticate... I guess it will be ticket machines for me.. Having visited a few times and planning to again it won't be a big issue..

Ugh I’m sorry! You could also try the Jelbi app, the functionality is very similar. It’s also in connection with BVG but seems to have better reviews. It also shows you bike and scooter share options.

Does the trip planner menu only become available when you're in Berlin? I'm trying to get familiar with the app for an upcoming trip and I don't have the trip planner menu available.

Hmm that seems strange. When I’m out of town, I still see the map on the trip planner screen, and when I put in where I’m trying to go, it tries to use my current location, which is obviously dumb when I’m not even in Berlin, but then I can change the starting point. Do you not even have the trip planner option at the bottom?

Yes, the 24 hour ticket that I mentioned in the video is probably your best option. It allows you to ride any form of public transport within Berlin during a 24 hour period, so for a 2 day trip, you should get one per day. You need zones ABC if you will be going to/from the airport or doing a day trip to Potsdam, Sachsenhausen concentration camp, or a few other places. Zones AB will get you everything that is literally in Berlin.

The 24 hour ticket (or any ticket you buy for Berlin transport) covers all Ubahns, Sbahns, trams, buses, regional trains while they're in Berlin, and there are even a few ferries.
