Orinoco is everyone's favourite Womble. The fact that he was Bernard's favourite as well came as no surprise to me.

Only now I've seen this video, so many thanks for uploading it. What a wonderful and creative imagination Elizabeth Beresford had in creating these funny and furry Wombles. Lol. I absolutely loved watching all the episodes when I was a young boy. It was Bernard Cribbins voice that made me become a Womble fan. He really was a true gentleman and a legend in my opinion. He will be sorely missed, but at least we have happy memories of him thanks to The Wombles, KZbin and other media. RIP Bernard 🙏 Orinoco was my fave too :-)

I love the fact that even in his 90s he can put on an "old" voice like making yourself sound much older while already older than most people, is an impressive skill. Of course Bernard Cribbins has many many impressive skills, he's incredibly talented.

I knew he did the voices of a few of the Wombles, but I never realised he did the voice of Madame Cholet as well! impressive to see him switch so easily between them. His passing very sad as he will always be a big part of my childhood and fond memories.

How did he know my favourite Womble was Orinoco? Such a talented man, from Mr Perks in The Railway Children, to Wilfred Mott in Doctor Who. And a singer with two top ten hits "Right said Fred" and "Hole in the Ground". Hopefully he gets buried wearing a Bowler Hat...so all his mourners can sing... "Well, there we were, Discussing this hole. A hole in the ground, So big and sort of round it was It's not there now. The ground's all flat. And beneath it is the bloke In the bowler hat. And that's that"

Orinoco was my favourite in the late 1990s got a soft McDonalds toy of him and always used to take to school, the red scarf came off but mum sewed on again. I still have it.

‘Arabels Raven’ is another master piece performance of the legend BC…well worth a look/ listen…a good egg added it to you tube a couple years ago….which is good as I’m not sure my 1980s BBC tape cassette in my mums loft will play any more

Hmmm, Mr Cribbins (it's an honour to meet you, btw 🙂) I actually always thought there was something going on between Madam Cholet and Tobermorey - there was an interesting scene once when Tobermory presents Madam Cholet with a bunch of flowers or something ... but we then cut to another scene, and don't get to see what happened after 🙂- quite tantalising! It was the episode where Orinoco was "fishing" for pancakes down the kitchen chimney.

Thank goodness he's still alive. The Wombles and Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings aren't sad yet. And what I mean is that when a well known show or show in general loses someone who worked on it, people feel a little sad. I was not a 70s child at all. I'm not even British. But I love british cartoons and I love his work as well.
