I have had the blue one for several weeks. it is a great fit and I am pleased with the form fitting rubber strap. The sunburst on the blue dial is amazing under the Australian sun. For the price it is top quality. Berny is an expert in doing original design work. Keeps great time and has a nice feel under the water. I have tested it snorkeling and yes its water tight. Overall I am impressed with your review. Your black dial looks great on the orange thin band. Keep up the good reviews.

Thanks for the review! I really love Berny's style which consists of rather raw and tough watch case with precise and clear details on a dial. And they started to make really great straps and bracelets. When I used to have Berny's "railway v1", there was a rubbish strap on it. And I was so surprised with the new type of thick milanese bracelet on v2. And that silicone strap on the "compressor" doesn't need a replacement at all, it's just perfect.

At 11:30 - I, too, have been on a compressor-style kick lately. I, too, love those Rdunaes R3's. I recently picked up a CCCP (brand) Spetsnaz w/ a black retro dial, and YES! It has a similar bezel thing going on where like 1/4 of the min/hr markers on the bezel do not line up precisely with the indices when the other 3/4 of them do. It's weird, *it's illogical.* But it is not a deal breaker on a budget compressor that I like to wear frequently. I just don't *get* it... 🤷🏼

I don't like how glossy the metal looks but overall, that is a great watch for the price, especially the sapphire glass and the 200ft of water resistance is also amazing for this price.

Looks good, especially in the blue. I actually prefer the earlier one, bought a black dial one but kinda wish I'd gone for the orange. Good to see the changes with this new watch but it won't be going on my wish list.

I have Berny's other compressor but i'll be picking one of these up in a future sale ( probably the blue one ). I have to agree with you, there are too many distinct changes too call this a V2 of last years watch, that watch is more of a core diver while this one is more to the dress watch esthetic.

Excellent review as usual and a great looking watch. Big fan of Berny watches, but not so keen on the name. This one would probably look a bit too big on my 6.5" wrist, but I would love to see this dial on a smaller, slimmer design.

Great review as usual. The first version in orange only didn't feel like a favorite, even though I was glad to see an original design from Berny (I assume?). But this one in black/grey looks really tempting. Finishing and specs are typically good for the price with brands like this. My Berny Mondaine homage version 2 just arrived from the 11.11 sale, and it's such great value for the money. Interesting that this particular Miyota movment is less noisy, since I have a couple of Miyota driven watches which are typically wobbly/noisy, hence a slight downside for me. This is tempting, and hopefully that size with those lugs would work on my 6.5 inch wrist.

Yeah, the non 8215/8315 8 series seem to be quiet. Had the day date one in a Cadisen and it wasn't bad at all. 🤷 Just got a Cronos explorer with 8315 hand it's pretty noisy, which sucks, because it's an otherwise great watch.

@@EscapeWheel It's too bad when great built watches have noisy movements. And Miyota is also a work horse like Seiko, like you don't need to service it but just change it after about 10+ years (if it's still not running). Hence it's too bad about the noise.

Those Rdunaes are great. Picked up three colorways during the AliX November sale. Is it weird that on some level I know I'll be getting the other two at some point? 🤷🏼 It's an addiction, but a harmless one.

@@hgr.7857 I don't even consider them gen 1 and 2 they are so different. "Gen 1" had a waffle pattern dial and a different case and different hands.

I've got the older melon yellow version and it's great. I really like this new version, the lack of lume pip on the bezel is a deal breaker for me though. Hopefully they'll upgrade that in the future.

Yep, the older melon yellow version has a lume pip. This newer version unfortunately does not.

I assume the second "Day" is for morning/evening. My Hamilton has the same design. I also think the comments about a wobbly crown are funny after owning a Vostok.

As a general rule, yes. But I knew I was in the mid-day on the watch. I generally stay away from setting the day/day between 10pm and 6am just to make sure I'm way out of the "danger zone"

But only on the “S5” part - S5 Shock-Resisting Tool Steel S5 Shock-Resisting Tool Steel is a silicon-manganese tool steel which exhibits the highest impact toughness among all of the “S” type steels. Had this watch contained a 9000 series miyota, and had another name on the dial, it would have been a no trainer - still, it's a nice JLC Polaris homage.

I think a lot of modern day divers use non screw down crowns. It's a safety mechanism. Doesn't aid in the WR rating at all really.
