One of my favorite things about Berserk is how Miura convincingly made it seem possible for Guts to do what he does to win against these creatures. Despite how powerful his enemies are, somehow there is still a balance between it feeling sort of grounded and real while at the same time larger than life and fantastical.

the point of lost children was to show that guts' hatred and lust for vengeance caused him to disregard his own physical health and moral compass to the point where the only important thing is to cause pain and suffering upon these supernatural beings to give them a taste of his own suffering in the eclipse. he would've fought this outrageously hard in every fight for the almost cynical reasoning that he must outmatch these apostles and make them the ones who experience utter despair
