Ari's theory is totally accurate. I was sitting at a red light yesterday at 7:30 am. Car goes through the red light because no oncoming traffic. I go "huh, that was illegal". Moment later, another car makes an illegal left turn at the red. Moment after that, a third car runs the red light after watching the previous two. Point is, there is a limit to how many people will watch something happen before they go fuck it and do it themselves. "The Bert at Mark's bachelor party" fiasco is the number one reason why I "nope out" of almost any podcast with Bert in it, it's always "the Bert Show" where Bert talks and talks and then regales the listeners by 'effin talking some more. The only reason why I'm tuning in to Two Bears now is because Ari is taking Bert's place.

Bert saying that he doesn't really think about other people's feelings, but he's "working on it", is basically saying that he doesn't care about other people's feelings, so he's going to actively have to learn how to act as if he cares about other people's feelings.
