I don't understand a single word of Japanese, but this is honestly the best thing ever. Real racing cars from a number of different racing series, with actual racing drivers that go all out side by side. Now if I could only understand what they said...

Racers are not saying much. Except F3000 driver Hattori Naoki(服部尚貴) at last lap, "Watch it, they're touching each other. These lunatics are dangerous" and talks to the lunatics at the pit gathering. Perhaps most racers driving their real race cars so they had to prove they're worthy. Hattori is the only one just playing around with a Formula. Katsura's(桂) N1 GT-R retired due to gasket problem. And Oh Hui(大井)'s CCI Amenbou Silvia is as in hard condition as you can see at the end. Passenger side's front wheel were not properly tightened to sit wheel on wheel-hub and he says "Be careful everyone". Nakaya Akihiko(中谷明彦) tried his best to not to crash into that Silvia. It could be more interesting if he did not spin.

All the people that complain saying these guys hold back in faster cars to favor cars they want to win...well this shows you how tight this track is, even an 8 second a lap faster F3000 car can't get by in the infield that easily.

Super touring cars are very advanced for back in the day, though this was just before front splitters and Rear wings where allowed which made them significantly faster, you can see the rear has no traction at all even though it's fwd.

Three things that I'll remember from this video : - Nakaya-san was as great as always in avoiding crashes and being as safe as possible (watch other videos where he masterfully dodges things) - the GTO was built like crap... like a lot of other Three-Diamond products (see door opening @2:57) - the NSX would have won if not for the Skyline blocking it hard (and kinda dangerously, Tsuchiya-san didn't look too happy) p.s. fourth : Hattori-san is always the most laid back and having fun ^^

Wouldn't say the GTO was crap from 1 race. The Puma GTO has completed Tsukuba in 59s. It's beaten all of them on the same track including the Supra Castrol GT in both Puma race spec, and the stock MR. The driver is the primary variable. All of them were reliable. Owner's simply needed to follow the maintenance schedule! and use a competent mechanic! Active Aero is EASY to repair!!! $5 fixes Active Aero. It's not even a lot of parts. A couple bolts, wing motor, L bracket, and a couple wires. Active Aero Usually broke due to owner's!!! Bent L brackets from curbs or object. Rusty, or frozen bushings due to neglect and preparing for the weather conditions. Rear wing, due to micro switches failure, that still cost $2. 1. Straighten L brackets/linkages with vice grips, repair done. 2. Bushings rusted due to salt or neglect? Remove them, fix linkage if crooked due to bad driving! (vice grips and elbow grease) Clean/sand them, reinstall, done. 3. Rear wing not working? Replace the micro switches, done! OIL Pan (spun bearing) Denting the oil pan, and damage to oil pick up. Owners, tow truck, and transport driver's destroyed many VR4s using the oil pan as a jack point. Checking Oil!!!! Literally just check the oil levels on a regular basis especially after spirited drives. 5min to check, and top off. Transmission Bulletproof if stock. Check trans fluid, replace as needed. AWS EASY!!! Owners simply didn't keep the fluid levels correct. They also failed to replace bushing's, tires, sway bars, control arms, and blamed the AWS system of electrical failure 🤦🏾♂️ it's completely MECHANICAL!!!!! To break it, you'd need to jump the car. Check for failed hose. ECS easy!!!! 1. The computer is disconnected. Open trunk, pull panel, reconnect. 2. The connection at the strut is disconnected. Inspect, reconnect. If not working, remove, solder disconnected wires, reconnect. 3. Replace the struts. Struts only last 50k to 100k miles. Owners usually just disconnected the computer, they preferred SPORT mode. Comfort feels like a Mercedes, Cadillac or Lincoln. This car was very very very, misunderstood, and the internet gave it a bad rap from those who never owned one or owner's that were bad driver's and usually in over there head's!!!!!! ECU Upgrade to Chrome ECU. Only the ECU deserves hate, the 91-93 ECU. Easy fix, but caused A LOT of confusion and problems. Remove battery, remove ECU, open ECU, clean, replace blown/leaky capacitor(s), solder new capacitors, close ECU. Test ECU. Reinstall ECU. Reconnect battery. Start car. Clear codes. Drive. Mitsubishi redesigned the ECU for Gen 2/3 95-99. A Gen 2 ECU is backwards compatible. Buy a Chrome ECU! Hydraulic Tensioner Upgrade to SOLID. The original part fails around 60k-70k miles. The 6G72(T) is an interference motor. Do the RECOMMENDED!!!!! 60k service every 50k miles! These cars regularly achieve 300k-400k miles, and are still very much on the road as daily driver's in 2023. VR4 owners were hitting 300k miles back in 2003. The Base, ES and SL guys are between 300k-500k. Most of these cars you'll find for sale have minimum 50k miles. The SOHC is the best one if you don't care for AWD. You can swap in the VR4 motor, and it'll be as fast or faster than a stock VR4.
Could someone identify what car was the Toyota sedan?

Toyota Carina Super touring spec for JTCC, the same car raced in BTCC in the early 90s.

Sorry but the GTO is N1 spec there is no way in any world it could compete with the GT500 Supra it's a near production spec race car.
