I wish I could understand their observations of the differences (and why the NISMO was slower!) but even the auto-generated subtitles were incomprehensible...

No shit. One day, if no one does this, I want to become an engineer or CEO of Nissan and break the relationship between Renault and Nissan like Mazda did with Ford for the Escape's platform that was also shared with Mercury.

Skyline is originally the brand of Prince Motor Industry and not Nissan original. (On the other hand, Z is Nissan's original.) Prince Motor Industry was got absorption by Nissan in 1966. After that, the first generation GT-R, PGC10 has been born. Until 1985, the development system was divided between Ogikubo (Prince side) in Tokyo and Tsurumi (Nissan side) in Kanagawa pref. And actually, the R32 chief development manager, Mr. Naganori Ito is from Prince. Please investigate the history.
Ironic that the Nismo-tuned 32 was somehow slower than the other one

The NISMO GT-R had metallic turbine blades while the normal GT-R had ceramic blades. While ceramic blades falls short in terms of durability for further aftermarket power tune (nearing 600hp or more) when compared to metallic blades, it’s lighter in weight. In this case, the normal GT-R handled relatively tight corners of Tsukuba better due to having less turbo lag than the other. You can also see how that is evident in the 0-400 drag race, The normal GT-R jumps off the starting line faster, but the NISMO gradually builds up boost and eventually overtakes the normal GT-R.
