(WARNING: BIG RANT. DONT READ IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIME!) Or just make a potato farm with some villagers, slap a minecart hopper under the farm, and lead the hoppers into a composter to make bonemeal. The kelp farms are nice. (Fuel, XP) The sugarcane farms are nice. (Paper trading with villagers) But you really need something that makes bonemeal while you're out adventuring. Something you can walk away from without breaking the game. Another great way to produce bonemeal is a dye farm. Everything a dye farm produces can be composted back into bonemeal. One bonemeal in a dye farm produces a patch of seeds and flowers. But if it's anything I've learned, is that slavery is effecient. Villagers will work anyways, and you might as well let them do it for you. Every machine requires you turn it on/off and you're limited to staying near it, preventing you from turning it on and coming back to it later. But villagers... They always work. Every time I come back from my adventures I check how much they produce. I get piles of potatoes. And I just compost them away. I tend to throw my bonemeal into my sugarcane farm. I might throw some junk in the dye farm when i go to check on my bees. But really, it goes into paper. Kelp > Bonemeal > Sugarcane > Auto Crafter > Paper It wasn't long till I began to realize my farmers kept hanging out by my machine's composters that I decided to automate the villager potato farm. I know there are farms that also use villagers to hand over items into a hoppers & chest. Run the chests into a conposter, automated bonemeal. No AFKing. No switches. Just pure slave labor and collonialism. Welcome to Minecraft. 😔 Yes. Villagers sleep. But the handover method prevents them from sleeping much like how an iron farm does. Nametags might also help so they don't despawn. And a roof over their heads might keep them alive longer. Personally, I fenced in an entire village. Double high. I get the occasional spider infestation. But they really don't hurt anyone. I also avoid raids. Like the plague. Raids in Hardcore are... Well... They're long and tiresome and everyone dies. Including you at some point. So just avoid raids unless you really need an outpost farm. But I have librarians with everything I need to enchant. I don't even use the enchanting table anymore. I get tons of XP with trading paper and glass. Although, I highly recommend you avoid using glass. Strip mining and glitch producing glass is a pain. Just use paper. I have farmers, and Cartographers. The librarians I keep nametagged in a trading post. All ready to be zombified for cheapest prices on hardcore. Otherwise, bonemeal is the bottleneck. Kelping bonemeal doesn't work well. You have to stay near it all the time. I'd rather be in my underground base enchanting gear, kelping XP, accomplishing achievements, or heck... Reading maps. The potato farm has really been pulling the weight for me. Even my auto farm doesn't keep up as well. Besides, I'd rather grow wheat in my auto farm. My iron and slime farm are far out. So i minecart to them when I need to. Or i hide from stupid phantoms. I explode my Creeapers out there as well. Away from eveything. U basically use a copper battlefield and make things go boom. Meanwhile, i keep a creeper trap under my tree farm for discs. My big hurdle is flame rods right now. I really need a flame farm. But I just haven't rrally spent the time in Nether to build one. So potions keep lacking. I'm loving the bundles. But if I were Minecraft, I'd work on making the nether better. End is ok. Overworld is fine. But nether is still somewhat OPed and makes the transition hard to get to end dragon. There are "key conponents" to beating the game. I don't really see how all these side distractions are helping other than giving us more things to waste our time on. Oh look. It's pink. Oh look. Saturation gone. Yay. Leaves. 😑 No, i need fire rods. I need ender pearls. I need potions. I need those core items to progress through the game. But Mojang went and got bent over speed runners, so now we kind of have a broken game with a bunch of extra junk. And that's why i barely play Minecraft much. I just don't care anymore. Not even the capes. Not even servers. The core game is lacking. It's just not fun anymore. It's all work and no play.

The chest and hopper can Cause lag in little low end device as the game will check container every tick causing lag.
