The Baby G, ref BG169R can be had for $50! 200m, 7 time zones, all the g-shock goodness.. this was the must have of the 90’s and for many of us, along with Swatch, was our gateway drug. @christophermaxton73172 жыл бұрын
F1_556_ That's not normal. Mine loses about 10 seconds a day. Which is pretty normal for a watch in this price range. You should have a watch repair expert take a look at it. Usually checking the watch out is free. Then, pending on cost of servicing or repair, decide if it's worth it to fix it, forget about it, or buy a new watch.

Me too! It was my baby, and I was fascinated every time I would watch the second hand sweep so smoothly (compared to all my eco-drive quartz watches) then it was my beater for about a year of landscaping/handyman work and now she probably loses a minute or more a day. Where I live the only place that'll service it would charge me about as much as what I paid for it back in the day. Sadly they're not as cheap as they used to be, huh? Hey, maybe one day it'll wind up on my kid's wrist, but I'll have to see how I feel about putting it in that kind of danger ; ) Form what I've read/heard, that watch probably brought more people into the market for automatics than just about any other watch since the 00's.

For me, value Casio can’t be beat. I had the early ones, pre g-shock; but in 83 I got a rather physical job and I broke 2-3 watches. I bought a g-shock and what a game changer for me. I wore g-shocks from 84-2018. I still have them, I just just can’t get myself to throw any of them away. They are beat to hell, but they just keep going. I did try and buy the Ironman timex and it broke in a week at work, never again. I have a bunch of Invicta watches, nice looking and feels so nice and you can buy so many at a reasonable price. I’m a bigger guy and I like bigger watches. I stopped wearing watches when I retired. I’m glad to see your list since 95% if not 100% of my watch brands made your list. I have 3 duro’s: $35 for blue, $15 for black & gold & $15 for classic black. The black is my favorite-seconds hand hitting the marks perfectly & rotating bezel having no play whatsoever. I put an orange silicone band on for awhile, but went back to the black resin strap for the diver look instead of looking more like a fashion watch. I don’t see why so many people have a problem with the stock resin band? I find it perfectly comfortable & I feel a diver watch should be on this type of band since it’s supposed to be exposed to water. 🔥

If some one is looking for the aesthetics of the DW290 (or can’t find on because TGV bought them all) and wants the GShock specs, I would definitely look at it. Multitudes of colors and spec combos. Also, I would recommend any of the Citizen entry level watches. They are on par with any offering from Seiko and don’t have the quality control issues. You can never go wrong with a Citizen. Part of the beauty of the 40mm Invicta Pro Diver is that is available in easily 40+ color combinations. There's at least 25 dial colors. Case & bracelet combinations include Stainless Steel, Two-tone, Gold tone, Black, IP Blue and Iridescent. They're now available with color matching canvas straps. These watches are accurate and reliable. At one point in time I had 18 in my collection; all different. Here's a tidbit a lot of people don't know: If the model# ends with "ob", it has a coin-edge bezel. If not, the bezel is scalloped.

The Festina Extra 1948 looks a bit like a cheap Chinese 5$ watch at first glance, but it's a really well made beauty once you got it in your hands. Add 50$ if it was another brand. If you like tank style, they have the F20464 from the Classics series. This one is also a really well made beauty and it has a proper two hands movement too. No cheating here.

About the Orient 3 Stars, they are extremely famous in Brazil; they dominate the mechanical niche and the market for vintage pieces - most of them in very unique shapes and bold dials - remains very healthy and very attainable too. On duty in the morning, time for bed ……. Gotta watch this first 🤦♂️. Great content, loving the diversity on the channel. Subtle salute from Blighty to Marc for his recent efforts regarding duty costs to the Uk. Thanks as always - onward and upward 🙏

I enjoyed this content. These less costly watches are still quite interesting.

You can get some very nice Rotarys for under £100 and Accurist is a brand worth a check surprisingly. However love what both of you have picked.

YESSSSSSS!!!! So true, excellent choice Steve, thank you so much. There was a time even the Sherlock Holmes Rotary Canterbury was under $100. I think they might even still be under $200, not abad at all. Best regards, TGV

This is a really good point - more recognisable in the uk probably, but sub 100 accurist or limit, and then around 1-150 rotary. Rotary in particular is not without heritage and they do a nice navitimer tribute you can get for 150 ish.

Had to replay that opening a few times, love the sounds of the computer from Alien, and fantastic watches too as a bonus!

I absolutely love my Riseman! I don't even think I could trade it. Don't wear it so much, just love looking at it. My first G-Shock love

I bought that Seiko SNK from Marc and I can't believe how accurate it is for such an inexpensive watch. Amazing!

My two super heroes in a joint video… always a joy! Just trying to figure out which one is Superman and which one is Batman.

My father in law passed on a SNK809 he had used for 6 years (for some reason it has a 20mm lug width), all scratched up. Its amazing and very comfortable.

Great video. I love the Marlin, Invicta is unbelievable value for your dollar, but as always SEIKO IS KING !!!

Cheap watches are hugely important to our hobby. My favourite watches are F91W Casio, an old 35mm dressy Enicar watch, 5600 G shock, ( and Hamilton pilot pioneer which i don't own yet and its more than $100, but it'll be my next piece for sure) I've sold my omegas and an iwc but keeping those cheaperv watches.... they're light, affordable, beautifully thin (OK maybe not the g shock) and have never lost me huge money and given guilt and regrets like the expensive watches I've bought and sold

One of my all time favorites is my very understated analog Seiko quartz that comes in at just under 5-1/2mm thick. Makes it under the cuff even if the shirt's a little too small. :D

It's crazy to see SNK809s go for like $100-150 now when they were just $70-80 a year or two ago. Great lil watches. The Orient Tri Stars are also decent for automatics though they've got that lil tick to em and don't always come well tuned but c'est la vie. I do love my Casio F-91WC and calculator watch.
