What are the best 2 class combinations to box for the upcoming Aradune and Rizlona EverQuest TLP servers? Enchanter, cleric, mage, monk, bard, shaman?

I never did two-box much, but I played with my sister quite a bit. She sat at a computer beside me ran her characters. I can usually get a group with her we could duo. Two of the better options we found was her Paladin and my Cleric. Her enchantress, and my Ranger didn't do all that bad but wasn't the best.... She could drop haste on my Ranger, slow the mob, and things were fine....my Ranger contains most things after she slowed it.

I have always liked the bard/druid combo for sheer versatility, especially in outdoor zones. Everything from improved charm kiting, to root/rotting, to fear kiting, etc. just an absolutely mad number of optional play styles, depending on levels of the characters involved.

I prefer enchanter druid. You dont get rezzes or nearly as strong of heals but you get buffs for charm ds teleport and honestly the most important debuff for pets imo snare

Additional pally info: by luclin/pop they are very strong duo boxing. They can stun lock so no need for slows and their heals are more than enough when stunning, they have best root in the game which covers cc nicely, plus they arnt squishy and have various oh shit buttons. Pair them with any boxable dps class (ranger, mage etc) and you may never need a group again (especially w raid gear but that changes things for a lot of classes)

A paly fits perfectly with a shaman or a bard. Run speed, heals or mana regen, slow and haste. I prefer the shaman for efficiency and hunting named. But bard is fun !

I box a Bard/Paly and it's a blast. Not setting any dps records, but it's relatively safe and very functional.

On the live servers the strongest 2box combo I could make was mag/nec with 2 cleric mercs. As long as you had the absolute strongest pet focus on both of them (with mage pet being the tank), and necro Epic 2.5, you could burst down any boss and didn't even need CC for groups because the mage pet could tank literally everything, all at once, while the necro dotted everything up and it all died in one round of DoTs. The sustained and burst DPS was insane. Toss on a bard free to play account song bot on 3rd account and leave him on auto-follow for even more power. I was clearing entire expansion's worth of group content with just this duo. This was all due to the fact that pet focus earring items were broken and allowed mage pets to tank far better than even the best raid geared player tanks

Monk & Shaman : Because it's for me the most fun. Quality pulling and healing is what make a great group or raid. So if you play right all your groups will be a success and you feel you control thing.

I am an Old School EQ player that pops on from time to time. I do have a well geared Ranger (well geared about 5 years ago) and a Nicely geared Shaman. I have always boxed these two together and I have always done very well. With the Shaman slows, heals and dots and the rangers DPS, I would drop mobs pretty fast. Most of the time I didn't need to dot the mobs with the shaman. I would drop before I get any of them off.

One thing people forget is Pally aoe stuns , great way to get aggro for multi pulls. I used a Pally Enchanter combo.

I've been playing since 2001, off and on, with a mage as my main, and my favorite companion for my mage has always been a shaman. When I play these days, I 2 box with mage/shammy, cleric merc, rogue merc. I can do a lot of level appropriate group content with that combo.

During luclin druid and chanter can rule chardok, druid can dire charm and not have to worry. Keep that chanter rolling.

LMAO back in the old days during release the ultimate duo was my Wizard and my Brothers bard . Kite Kite Kite down time was like less than a minute with his mana song . Had to wait anyways for the mobs to spawn .

Played the Enchanter half of a Chanter/Sharman duo for years. Incredibly powerful combination of slows (mobs), haste (pets & charmed mobs), DoTs (magic and disease/poison) and mana regen, minimizing downtime. Healing wasn't awesome, but was rarely needed. The only thing we really missed as rezzes and transports. Technically not dual boxing, but a fantastic combination.

mage/shaman work well in kunark with COTH... i pull with the shaman... bring the mobs in range of the mage.. coth the shaman to drop aggro on adds and wait to pull a single

I did Ranger / shammy used to Ranger tank in planes of power and shammy heal hole group. And if I had a good tank range go on dps and I’d focus on heals little more.

I would argue that a BiS gear Warrior that knows what they’re doing has just as good of aggro if not better than BiS Knights since most of knight’s aggro is mana dependent and they can’t duel wield to take advantage of essential weapon procs.

I had a warrior and after a while I stopped using 2 weapons and just started going weapon /shield. But still with the right setup with a warrior you don't have a problem keeping aggro. It's been a couple years, 5 I think. So I can't remember the exact set up or account. I just remember having lots of fun as a tank

Paladin / Necromancer is very strong against undead, all you are really missing is haste.

I leveled my main paladin on live grouping with a necro more than anyone else. It really is a wicked combo, with the pure amount of hate a paladin can generate using stuns and self healing. The necro is able to unleash with reckless abandon. Shamans however are the best combo with paladin, they raise our survival via slows tremendously as well in 50+ enhance our dps considerably.

SK/Shm is the easiest choice. You have everything (tank, heal, slow, decent dps) Most of all this duo is good from classic era to live. Ench/Cleric is harder to play. Best dps possible for a duo. You play the ench, you charm. The cleric is mostly here to stun on charm breaks + CH the pet (use a low magic resistant mob for longer charms, if possible a named with high melee dps). After GoD era you will struggle finding a pet. Most people leave EQ at that time so ... Other duos may be great, probably very fun (which is the most important choice !) but won't be named killers like these 2 combinations : ench/cleric tank/shaman A very slow but efficient one is shaman/necro the two best soloers in the game (all eras). Dots and slow, fast mana regen, but long and boring most of the time.

Yeah exp rate is gonna be the same on the new TLPs. Bet is someone will be 50 in 36 hours. Banded is pretty easy. Just need about 200 plat to skill it up.

ABSOLUTELY! Enchanter Mage too. Most use Enchanter for charm alone but the truth....everything the Enchanter can do - assists any and all classes.

charming soloing ... ouch thats a mistake. It is doable but you loose so much time. Charming is definitly a group thing and the group will work for you on : - Heal the pet (cleric or shm) - Take agro or CC on charm break (sk, paly, rng, wa, shm) or root or snare (druid) or mezz (bard) - Add more dps but a full group on the TLP's era will not do a third of the pet's dps. - pulling HERE you are using charming and your pet will hits other mobs hasted continuesly. Ench are powerlevelers this way.

If you do duo choose a good partner, imo cleric or shaman. Some like druid, bard are good, not amazing. Some work well like pali, bst, mage, Sk, but we are not talking of chain pulling or killing higher lvl mobs. And you will die often.

Beastlord and Druid is amazing, you have slows, snares, heals and DS as well as a the pet. Tough to beat for the ease of play.

mage with brd can tank way better, and way more dps output...and if you are really know this game, mage solo with merc and get way more better exp and kill anything mob enc and bard can kill.

You are absolutly wrong. Druid can not heal a melee without slow after luclin. You need cleric or shaman to play one part of the duo tanking. Druids are good healers on classic era but be rdy for long meditation time between fights.

On GoD (which is maybe the expansion with the higher level gap with the previous one) a paladin is even better than a druid for duo with ench thank to stuns. And still on GoD i was able to duo safer with a shaman than a cleric ...

@@skillfulactor09 from classic to PoP, imo the best is enchanter main with a cleric duo. I play ench as a main and do charming all the time. When a charm breaks i use the cleric to stun then i come back to ench and recharm (or tash if needed, then recharm). You have 2 rooters, 2 stunners ... that is very easy. With this 2 toons you can dps like a group and tank on named. (I cleared every towers in Bastion of Thunder with this lvl 64 duo. Only the fire tower resisted. I am talking about named too but you will have to use blurr to avoid some agro on fight and pray for luck).

It is a great duo but try shaman with necro .... it is absolutly amazing ! Slow (think that u can fight 4 to 5 mobs hitting together like a single mob) Snare dot dot dot dot Best mana regen on each class + abilities to transfert hp from each other + necro can gives mana. I am just saying there is no downtime on yellow mobs from 1 to lvl 60 ... 2 pets, their dps and their ability to tank on a bad pull or too many adds. Malo from shm will help your necro better then tashan does. I only see cleric ench able to kill faster and bigger mob (not sure after PoP and GoD). But even a duo ench cleric will need meditation breaks.

@@alandeming7128 amazing dps, very good duo for farming and some expeing specially on kunark or luclin era. It will be tough later, with no tanking no slow and no heal. But you can accept any class with this dps duo. If auto follow and auto attack could be done on a npc this would be one of teh best duo using agro kiting with the ranger and monk running behind doing dps.

Casters can be but very rarely is it done. Once saw an enchanter go beast mode pulling the hole but it was more of an exception than the rule.

Actually i used to pull all the time with my Enc, can leave mobs mez'd in group and ready to go so that the tank and dps can kill stuff and not waste time running around. Enc doesn't do dps so why stand around?

@@Morbian13 When i played my enchanter is was pre aa's, pre charm duration/breaking aa's (whatever those we're called) and so charm was of situational use at best. Massive mana usage and rapid breaks, was only really useful when soloing or when as an oh shit spell when people went LD. Like i said I always had a full group with good dps, its a waste to have the enchanter sitting there even with a charmed pet ...better to be off pulling feeding the group mobs. I recall doing Necro Guardian camp once in seb when i was playing my Rogue, the zone was camped like crazy at that point with not enough mobs top go around and i bitched out the enc for insisting on charming something. i'm trying to convince her we don't need the dps and she's robbing us of a precious mob we can kill lol
