While I don't have anything against AKMs, I've never seen one that make me purchase one. But the Galil Ace Gen 2s are so nice looking that I had to change my mind on obtaining one. Its a blast to shoot.

Hopefully someday I can obtain one of the early classic models but till then I’m super happy with mine. I’m looking forward to shooting it with the new grip on it now. That should be a game changer. What did you decide to go with for optics? I’m torn if I want the gold dot holosun or a Eotech sight.

@@takeNshots No optic yet. I have Occam Defense Solutions PH-2 sights and they are really nice. For an optic I was thinking the Holosun Aems in low mount when I have the funds.

@@8RedBear5 I hear you on that, the amount of guns I have needing optics keeps growing. Every time I’m about to get a new optic I end up buying a new gun. I have a Glock 19x on layaway at my shop. Today I just came in to “browse” and ended up putting a Henry Golden boy .22lr rifle on layaway. It has the big loop on it and it’s stunning.

I just looked them up and that product looks fantastic. I’m going to try the gun out next time with just the grip and see how that works. If it still is uncomfortable then I may order the hot pocket once it comes back in stock. I appreciate the suggestion!

I am a big galil ace fan I own a 308 gen 1 and 2 ace and they are awesome. In 762x39 I would say the galil ace is the best money can buy followed by some of the Bulgarian AKs. With all the features, reliability and how much more accurate it is than other AKs nothing really holds a candle.

That’s is awesome! Which gen do you like more? I’d like to play with a gen 1 again to see since it’s been a while but I think I like the gen 1 better.

I'll answer that question, yes. I owned the 7.62x51 sbr and just got a full size 7.62x39. AKs and variants will always be the better rifles simply due to reliability (as long as it's NOT a WASR or something else that uses a cast trunnion, always go for forged trunnions). Galils are just better for the placement of the rear sight and charging handle, even the old Galil SAR, ARM and Micro had slightly improved charging handles.

I got a gen 2 and gen 1 Galil ace 308 and I was thinking about getting a Bulgarian Arsenal in 762*39 but I have decided to get another Galil because it is ready to throw an optic on and use right out of the box and I just love the platform! So many people that buy galils end up getting several because they are just awesome!

Crazy how your saying the mlok rail got to hot. I have the shorter pistol variant,I think it's an 8" barrel or so. I dumped a 75 round drum as fast as I could & it didn't even get warm....
@takeNshots

I loaded 5 mags and after the 3rd mine was scorching hot. I believe I was on the 4th mag in the clip where I couldn’t rest my hand on it as I still had one mag left untouched when I got home. Only reasoning I can think of is maybe because yours is the pistol version so your bullets aren’t being sent full speed down range. You bullets aren’t burning all the powder before exiting the barrel. That’s my best guess at least.

I wanted a Galil Ace gen one much more than a gen 2. The gen 1 had stock iron sights which I prefer plus the handle had removable plates that could hover up the rail and had a place to mount a switch for a light. The gen 1 had so many awesome features they removed when making the gen 2.

Yup it’s a crazy expensive gun for sure…. I have another AK that I spent $1,000 on that is really nice too and comes with a rubber front grip making it really comfortable to hold onto. I don’t think you can get an AK now new for less than $700ish. I’m sure online somewhere they exist but in person in shops around here and at local gun shows I don’t see any for less than that.

@@JamesDeal1982 yea I hear all the time from people in their 50-60’s how they picked up a sks for like under $60 back in the day. Now a cheap sks will still run you $600 and that is hard to come by. Many at local shops around here will cost upwards of a grand or more.

If you’ve ever shot it you’d see why it was $1800. Could say that it’s easily in the top 3 best guns I’ve ever owned and that’s to include my SR15, DDM4, & NEMO. Everything from IWI’s quality control to the performance of the rifle is astronomically better than most rifles you’re going to buy. If I’m honest I’m surprised it’s not more expensive. I’ll be posting a build to my Reddit once it’s complete. Ill reply back here when it’s up if you care to see it.

It’s a 8lb gun minus the mag and sight you may add to it. It’s not light by any means but then again the weight helps a bit when shooting it. If you wanted a more lightweight AK then you could always get a mini or micro Draco.

Ocala shooting range lol . The Wild West out there . Be very careful out there. I’ve seen some bad things happen there . Be safe
@takeNshots
@takeNshots Жыл бұрын
The reasons which give the Ocala range it’s Wild West reputation are the same reasons I love it so much. I love that there isn’t someone breathing down my neck while I shoot watching every movement. Unfortunately that means no one else is being watched either which can be dangerous. However, most folks there do a great job watching each other and calling someone out if they do something they shouldn’t. Everyone I’ve brought there has been impressed and felt safe enough that they don’t want to go to paid ranges again. Sadly accidents do happen and I’ve heard some stories from people there as well as one of the forest rangers who takes care of the property. That range almost closed up during Covid. He said the person in charge of the forest was new and never ran a forest that had a range before and didn’t like it. He said they were trying to use the accidents as a excuse to close it. Added the fact the range costs them money to run but makes no money in return doesn’t help the situation.

The Galil Ace G2 in 7.62 is the best AK ever.* * If you don't care how heavy it is. Currently I have 2 AK’s in my collection and it’s the Galil and the Zastava m70. I like them both pretty much equally for different reasons. Galil not an AK. Does not adhere to any of the TDP packages of any AK variant
@takeNshots
@takeNshots 2 жыл бұрын
I believe I mentioned the Galil is the love child of couple guns in the video. Here’s what is said on the history of the Galil from the internet. As it’s described the gun as a “AK on steroids.” When Israel designed the Galil it borrowed heavily from the AK and the original Galil has often been described as an AK on steroids. The Galil used the same internal mechanism as the AK. Unlike the AK, the Galil featured a milled receiver, better sights, a flash hider and accuracy the AK could only sniff at.

By your logic I wouldn’t be able to claim being Irish because I’m not 100% pure. The Galil may not be 100% a traditional AK, however, it’s generally referred to and accepted by most to be the best AK variant.
@KB-kw8ni

@@takeNshots Maybe accepted by people who do not understand industrial blueprints, schematics, technical data packages and interchangeability for platforms. If 51% of the population say the sky is green but you see it as blue would you still go with the herd and say it is green? The Galil has a partial AK influence but in order for a model to be called a certain type of firearm, it must have the core parts and how they assemble to be interchangeable, of which the Galil does not with an AK. These are words straight from engineers of Kalashnikov Concern.
@KB-kw8ni

@@takeNshots Also as a side note if you insist on calling the Galil an AK then the Valmet is considered to be the finest form in the AK family, not the Galil
