With last round lock back ever time. I did not notice any group size, increase or point of impact shift when shooting the barrel hot or cold. The weight is shifted to the rear with the profile design and the barrel even matched up to the receiver better. This is my new duty barrel paired with a Vcog.

Love your content and you dudes have really taught me a lot that has made me a better marksman and a more competent concealed carrier too. This barrel is probably great, Rosco really knows how to make good barrels and people are really sleeping on stainless barrels. They're so much easier to machine and that results in a more precisely manufactured barrel with more consistent wall thickness of the barrel and its easier to machine a pristine crown on stainless. I'm also curious what effect the heat from the machining process itself has on the barrel. I've never seen any manufacturer discuss this so I'd be interested to hear about it. I'm someone who has been known to dabble in cartesian coordinate systems myself so if you could get the Rosco guys on the channel to discuss about the actual process of manufacturing barrels I think that would be really interesting to a lot of us. I gotta say something though. You guys discounted nearly every shot outside of a 1" diameter as a flier or by saying "ohhh that's just me", alright, maybe some of them. But come on man...the groups were good even with the "fliers", most people shoot a few 3 shot groups and find one or two that are sub moa and then say "look at this guys, I gots myself a sub moa Bear Creek". Very few AR15 barrels truly stay sub moa in 9 or 12 shot groups. It just is what it is. I'm not saying that sub moa AR barrels don't exist. But they're few and far between. 1.5-2moa is good in an AR15. It just isn't a precision rifle. There are other platforms designed specifically for that. I hope you guys make a boatload of cash off this partnership. I know the whole economy including the gun industry has slowed down. If I'm ever down in Florida I really would like to take a class with you guys. You got a great range and seem like good dudes.

Rosco’s have consistently been the best performance for the price in the market I’ve ran. Across all my rosco barrels (a 12.5, 14.5, 16, 18 and 20 ) they are all .65-1.1 moa shooters with 77 SMKs and a relatively cool barrel. They are by no means as good as my Criterion’s or Centurion barrels, but those are also 3-4 times the price. The extra money from a truly premium barrel buys you .4-.65 moa groups cold, and a sustained sub moa barrel when it’s screaming hot (think long range rapid engagement training). If your accuracy requirements (aka cone of fire for required target size at x distance) are sub moa cold, sub 2 moa hot save your money and go Rosco. Keep in mind the vast majority of shooters aren’t sub moa shooters and this will be completely adequate for 90% of shooters.

I have 2 Criterions and man they're good shooters. My 11.5 is a Criterion Hybrid and I built a 16" SPR type rig with a Criterion CORE which is kinda thin for a typical SPR barrel but its very accurate and very wieldy. Still, I find myself grabbing my 11.5" Criterion and my 14.5" BCM ELW BFH guns on most range days. I really like my 14.5 BCM and my 11.5" Criterion the most out of all my guns.

@@armorers_wrench agreed on the quality of Criterion. We do a lot of 300-1200 yard 556 shooting at the ranch these days. So i find myself at the stage of only shooting premium barrels anymore in SPR style guns, but still run my “mid tier” rosco guns when i it fits the bill.. and will recommend Rosco to any new and semi experienced shooters looking to upgrade from a factory barrel or reach the skill of outshooting their 2moa+ cold equipment.

Serious question... Unsupressed, that barrel was ejecting at 4:30 - 5:00, and that's in FL on a hot day. I assume because that patrol length gas system has less dwell than a mid length on a 16" barrel. My question is, in a cold environment like a Wisconsin winter, will that barrel move enough gas to cycle the rifle? If not, I wonder if drilling the gas port slightly would correct it for those of us who live in the north.
@RoscoMfg2 ай бұрын
This barrel doesn't have patrol length gas. This barrel is 'intermediate' length gas, which is between Mid and Rifle length. This barrel is ported to run both suppressed and unsupressed, you will have no issues running it in a cold Wisconsin winter. Rosco is located in New England, we test all of our barrels in harsh winter conditions.

Also. It’s the 16 inch version of the barrel that Rosco did with sage dynamics. How does 416r ss with nitride hold up longevity wise? Same as other ss barrels with the 5-10k round estimates?
@DutchK756 ай бұрын
There was a time. That a friend of mine. Who is a armorer and whom I served with in the Marines (Infantry, he became a gunsmith and armorer after the Marines), had helped start a company named Archer Manufacturing. They were cutting their own barrels. And sending them off to be QPQ. There is something magical that happens it's been said when you QPQ/Nitride a SS barrel. And it depends on who is doing the QPQ/Nitride process. They were seeing 12-15k before the barrels were opening up. But they weren't falling off the table. A 1 moa barrel would open up to 1.25 to 1.5 moa. And by the time it started keyholing they were still under 2 moa. And at a 20k+ round count. They had a proprietary rifling method that was called under cut rifling. And their barrels ran super fast. They had data testing on 12.5 inch 7.62mm barrels that had better velo than 16 inch barrels. And they were getting that across the board. If you get on Primary and Secondary's FB group page and search Archer Manufacturing it should bring up old posts. Criterion has also posted in places the longevity of their SS QPQ barrels. Saying the same things. Naked SS barrels do wear a lot faster. I think that CHF is way overrated. A button cut barrel is always going to be generally more accurate. CHF is actually a faster way to make barrels. And they make you pay for it too. Geissele seems to make a very accurate CHF barrel. The ones I've seen from FN and DD are run of the mil accuracy wise. 3 moa but lasts for 30k is meh. Combat accurate for sure. But are falling way behind the accuracy curve more and more. And the pricing on CHF is atrocious.
