I too am a member of the mystic order of the electric blue squirrel! (ADHD) I have a question about midi controllers - but off topic of video. I have an old AKAI APC 40 MK1 - and I would love to be able to use it with my ipad pro 10.5 (2017). I know that some folks have hacked it to use with BeatmakerIII - but Im not great with the midi programming. To many details - I get overwhelmed - yay ADHD! Have you seen anything regarding this? I have looked high and low. nothing.

We are sooooo in need of something to allow us to change the colours on the pads to then indicate ON and OFF at least but needs to be able to actually have the function to mute or unmute at the same time.

@@walrtbstudios5430 blimey Wal, i think I might be able to help you there. Pretty sure CCs control parameters that are set by a corresponding number. I think they stay the same, i.e. CC#1 always = mod wheel controller, CC#2 always = breath controller. There are some numbers that are undefined (pretty sure you can define them yourself, but I could be wrong so best to google that). If you google for the midi cc list, you’ll understand a little better. I’m not sure how many you’d need to control all the synths you’d want to use, but I suppose it would depend on what you want to do with how many synths at one time, and how many external controllers you have. Not sure if it works the same way inside apps when routing internally (without external controller/s). Slowly slowly, catch the monkey 🐵🐵🐵 disclaimer: I might be completely wrong 😂😂😂

I think it’s Atom 2. It was leaked already that the color feature of AUM is linked to a collab with Atom. I‘m on the LK beta channel and it does not make the the launchpad blink - so you can rule that out.

The Lanchpad blink has been fixed. It will be available on the upcoming version 1.9.5! 😉

Thanks for these awesome quick tips. I especially love tge quick midi learn. That is super useful and time saving! Really curious about the secret app. I have rhe older version of tge Launchpad Mini with only three colors. So i am sure my options will be more limited but still some of those other features might work. No idea what thst app could be. Must have something to do with Ableton probably. So far the only app that made my controller’s buttons light up like that was thr Launchpad app. But i am sure that is not the white screen you blurred out 😉 Looking forward to your reveal!

MIDISynth Control can change the colors and functions already, but there is a limited color pallet and it has some stability issues lately.

My guess is that the app is AUM with colour option for launchpad. I have a mk 2 launchpad so hopefully whatever it is works with that. Jakob, have you tried Midipad 2 with your MC101? I've used it to turn my iPad into a clip launcher for the 707. Works really well as it can launch individual clips, but you can also turn it into a scene launcher, so expand beyond the 8 available on device.

Have you ever run into a midi mapping iOS software that will map one controller CC to another hardware synth knob? Of course you have to know the destination...but wouldn’t it be cool to have an app that “listens” to midi CC devices and routes messages anywhere? And then recorded those CC messages like Bastl Midi Looper?

I think there are apps that do that stuff, however I’ve never used any myself so I can’t be sure. I recommend asking around over at iPad musician group on Facebook and/or the Audiobus forum. There might be people over there that does this type of stuff. 👍🏼

I too thinks it’s Atom 2. I’m so looking forward to Atom 2! Love Atom (1) even with all limitations and the coming version is going to free us from those limitations allowing to ascend to the next level :)

There are a lot of votes for Atom 2, as we know that is coming soon, but why does Jakob have midiSTEPS sitting in channel 1 for a lot of the video? midiSTEPS can send midi and CC to external gear so it might have been updated to interface with launchpads. What ever it is, here is hoping it works with gen 2 as well as gen 3 of the launchpads. Big tease Jakob, keep them coming!
