This may all be coming from the "acts of service" person I am. I want to do things with MAXIMUM impact and having been postpartum 2x MEALS and finishing the to do list are amaaaaazing and to have the people who love me the most help me with it?! YES PLEASE!
I recently hosted a baby shower for my sister and we MEAL PREPPED FOR POSTPARTUM. It wasn't my idea but I feel like an absolute genius for actually executing.
Another thing I've been seeing a lot lately is a Nesting Party instead of a Baby Shower and I think that's an amazing idea for moms on their 2nd, 3rd+ baby!!

I am a quiet person and find traditional baby showers rather awkward and not fun. Doing and helping out with things sounds so great! I love these ideas!

I didn’t have a baby shower for my second because my first baby shower was huge!!! We waited 10 years, so like 40 people showed up in excitement. I was blown away. It felt weird having a shower for my second baby. No one asked or offered and I didn’t want to do my own thing and feel like I was asking for stuff, but I missed the community support. It felt like this baby wasn’t celebrated. I mean I celebrated her, but it was disappointing and lonely. She is 15 months now and it still makes me sad. So these ideas are great!!! Awesome ideas! My sister got me a Lactation Consultant as a gift. And it was *amazing*. If you're planning to breastfeed (and especially if its your first) and I highly recommend asking for this as a gift!

I did a nesting party! Very fun. My advice would be keep it small and simple. Otherwise it gets complicated and hectic people don’t know how to do the tasks. Also breaking it up into multiple nesting “parties” to keep it quaint. Such as friends from work, friends from church, family etc

Stick to the registry or provide receipts! I was gifted several items (wipe warmer) that we did not need. I exchanged them for diapers.

💯 When I had my first, the majority of people bought off registry and not a single person gave a gift receipt. It is so frustrating to have a car filled with things you don't want or need and no way to return it, but to not have anything you actually need for baby. With my second (7 year gap, so my friends threw a sprinkle) none of my family bought me anything, but all my friends bought off my registry and it was a much less stressful time!

this is such a good idea! I just recently did a baby shower where we pooled together and did a big cash gift... BUT to satisfy those who can't come to a baby shower without a gift, we did a mommy basket and brought small pampering items/postpartum things for the new mom!

Someone tell me how Shayla knew I needed a baby shower video! I'm 2 months behind you girl! I have been the happiest, most calm, most peaceful person since getting pregnant. BUT the only thing that makes me cry is my baby shower. My mom and my friend equally want to plan my baby shower but it's impossible to get them together. My mom is coming around to my preferences of coed+no games+minimal plastic use. However my friend still hasn't been understanding (husband's best friend's girlfriend/my neighbor). For now I'm excusing ideas I don't like by saying "the other co-host and I were talking about doing it a different way". I'm overly blessed to have multiple people wanting to plan it. However I definitely feel alone when I think of who in my life shares my beliefs (no gender exclusion, minimalism, eco-friendly).

So since you are granola and such, I’m sure you’d love to hear this! I absolutely love the results of switching to tea rather than taking prenatal vitamins. The vitamins I believe have been messing with my hormones. I’m not sure what they use to put the pills together or get the vitamins you need, but after switching to tea 10 of my symptoms have completely cleared up including: -Constipation -Brain fog/memory issues -Fatigue -lack of motivation/depression -Anxiety -Soreness-hip/back/shoulder pain -Headaches -Hot flashes -Nausea -Sleeplessness/insomnia -Circulation issues I use this recipe and I checked it has everything you need and more! Prenatal tea: -1teaspoon red raspberry leaf tea -1teaspoon Nettle leave tea -1/2teaspoon dried oat straw -1/2teaspoon dried alfalfa leaf Add to a 32oz container with hot/boiling water and steep for 24 hours. Strain nd drink every morning I hope you benefit from this comment!
